Legolas

Legolas is definitely one of my most favorite characters from Peter Jackson's movie trilogy, based on
J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy.
For this costume, I set about doing my research on LotR Costume, a great site for all your LotR costume research if you're interested.
Mind you, I only did the undershirt and jerkin for this outfit. All the other pieces to this costume were obtained by other means. (See Naira's site, The Blue Sword for information on the cloak).
I started out with a simple pattern for a shirt with a mandarin collar. I made the undershirt, being sure to split the seams. For clasps, I made these really cool, elaborate metal frogs that hook together. The fabric was a soft silvery lining.
I modified the same pattern to make the jerkin. The sleeves were difficult to conceive, that is, how to make them, but I finally got that down and sewed it all together. The fabrics I used were light green/gold tapestry type material and a darker green/blue faux suede. Over the upper part, I went in with light blue fabric paint to make that really cool art nouveau design.
My friend was so kind as to send me some photos of the costume.
So the actual fabrics used for this are suede and silk dupioni.
