Are there guidelines for embossing and foil-stamping?
Richard writes:
I was hoping that you could point me in the right direction to obtain
guidelines or standards to use when preparing print files for embossing.
There aren't that many resources on the Web for preparing files for embossing.
However, a good place to start would be the Foil
Stamping and Embossing Association. There are also numerous books
available on the subject, but not having read any of them, I can't recommend
any.
Other than that, the only thing I can recommend is to get detailed instructions
from whomever is going to be doing the embossing for you... some printers/manufacturers
have slightly different requirements. It's always important to communicate
with them from the beginning.
