History: Always
one of the top students in her school, people always knew she had
an extraordinary mind. To say that she was always interested in
psychology and enjoyed dabbling in the class's social politics is
an understatement. She was always the kid sitting alone reading,
though it was usually a college psychology text, and she was
always listening. She became interested in psychology very early
on, her father being a clinical psychologist with a private
practice, and read all she could on the subject. She delighted not
only in knowing how the human mind, complex as it was, perceived
things, interpreted them, made decisions, and otherwise
functioned, but also by learning how to exploit and apply this
knowledge. By the time she was in middle school, her clever,
calculated interactions shaped who dominated the pecking order,
though it was never her, and she made sure that nobody knew she
was doing it.
Upon entering high school, she was suddenly in a completely
different environment, with a new people and many
"gifted" classmates. While learning to adapt to her new
school and the people in it, some of whom were psionic, she
discovered her own "gifts" and made friends with people
who had similar levels of intelligence. They understood her and
could relate to her stories, some of them able to understand or
control the interactions of atoms or chemicals as she understood,
and could now control, the interactions of minds.
She sometimes described watching her plans being carried out in
predictable patterns by the "in-crowd" as "sticking
my fingers in a puddle and then watching the ripples bounce each
other and the edges to create the pattern I had wanted to
see".
Anna dislikes Heather, one of, if not the most popular girl in
school. Anna sometimes describes her as "a rock in the
puddle, which only complicates things". This along with her
shallow values and interests led to a smouldering aversion, a
dislike just short of loathing, though Anna considers such weak,
negative, obstructive feelings beneath her and is almost ashamed
to admit she has them. To convince herself these feelings don't
exist, among many other reasons, she is submitting to join The
Assembly, a team of teenage heroes which Heather belongs to.
Another reason was her decision that she could use her
"gifts" to help the city, and she realized that this
would be easier with help.
She took the joking name one of her friends used as her new name:
the C-Freak. One of her favorite tricks is to use her knowledge of
psychology in conjunction with psionics to "mess with"
people, get them to do as she wishes, or just incapacitate them.
She will admit that sheer psychokinetic force is good too, and
preferable to entering the barren cognitively -challenged minds of
the brainless thugs she has to deal with now and then. |
