| Powers: Brooks isn't quite sure as to the range of extent of his newly found powers, but they include the ability to open "voids" which allow him to move himself, or anything else from one place to another. He can also create reflecting force fields the protect him from projectile attacks. He is learning how to channel this energy into an offensive power. |

Brooks was a reclusive kid who didn't have any real friends besides the movies. When he learned about his powers, he became very confused and scared. He is shy, quiet and wary of his powers, and his burgeoning life as a hero, and member of The Assembly. |
| Motivation: To uncover the truth behind the events that gave him his powers. He hopes, secretly, that he can be "cured" and return to his normal life. |
| Why That Name?: As an Assistant Manager at Evergreen Park Theatres, Brooks Aylesworth was in charge of putting together the new movies and repairing any prints that became damaged. He decided to pay homage to both his origin and his favorite hobby through his name. |
History: After being outcast by the mainstream students at his school, Brooks Aylesworth became enchanted with movies. When he turned 15, and was finally old enough to apply at Evergreen Park Theatres, he jumped at the chance. He has now worked at the theatre for 3 years and has worked his way up to Assistant Manager where he was put in charge of putting together and repairing film prints.
One night he received a film that he put together and screened privately for himself after hours (something he often did after he became Assistant Manager.) Unknown to Brooks, however, was that the film was an invention of an unknown entity who had developed a way to use the film as a distributor of radioactive material that would eventually kill anyone exposed. But it didn't work properly. Instead of exposing Brooks to lethal levels of radiation, it mutated and altered him, bestowing upon him unknown powers.
These powers lay quiet, slowly building in intensity and focus until two months later. Brooks was managing the EP6 and was involved in an attempted robbery. The criminal intended to kill Brooks, destroy the closed circuit video and get away with the theatres hefty cash sum. Instead, Brooks' powers manifested themselves and foiled the robbery. Brooks himself destroyed the videotape of the event, went home and tried to convince himself it was all a dream.
Members of the Assembly eventually helped Brooks become Splice, and gave him the opportunity to find out more about his past and gain answers from those responsible, unaware that Splice's greatest ambition is to relieve himself of his powers and again regain a normal life. |
