Why make Songlations?

I have two main reasons.
(1) It is a good niche to cover since I am already bilingual, and
(2) I want to help Spanish students who want to immerse themselves in the language by immersing themselves in the music. I took French as a third language in high school and I watch Japanese anime, so I know from personal experience how helpful it can be to compare original work with translations. I know this page doesn't have very much yet, but I'll keep adding more songs. Slowly, slowly, yes, but steadily.

What do you focus on in the translations?

I am translating the songs so you can understand them in Spanish, not rewriting them so you can sing them in English. I try to keep closely literal translations, but sometimes I have to heavily reword a line for clarity. Check the translation notes at the bottom of the pages.

You say not to take without permission. What does that mean?

It just means that I don't want people to copy these translations and repost them on the web. You can use them for school projects and other personal uses. You can quote them and link to them and critique them and everything else; just don't repost the entire translations somewhere else on the internet. Thank you.

Please feel free to e-mail with comments and suggestions. I don't update regularly, but I do keep your feedback in mind when I get down to work on the website.
