Mary Doyle, died 8m female Melbourne 1842 #38424 Roman Catholic St Francis, Melbourne
John Doyle and Ellen Murphy baptised Margaret 1841, William 1843 From Paul Blair < pblair at pcug org au > on Wed, 11 Feb 2004 John Harvey Doyle, his wife Ellen (who was Miss Harvey) arrived in Melbourne in 1841. With them were (we believe) their 7 children. The parents were baptised in Ireland (Tipperary?) around 1800, and married around 1820. After a time in Melbourne, they went to the area near Warrnambool. I cannot find what happened to the parents. I've trawled through Victorian records with no joy, and taken a long look at NSW as well, because their eldest boy went there to live. But all to no avail. Equally mystifying is one of their daughters, Sarah. She was baptised in Ireland c.1824, and baptised (or re-baptised?) in Melbourne in 1850 on her 26th birthday. I fancied this was because papers had been lost, and the lass wanted to marry or join a convent. But no amount of searching can locate her information. | ||||||
