See Ryrie Family = Commissary Stewart Ryrie, son of Alexander Ryrie and Margaret Stewart, was born on November 29, 1776 in Camster, Caithness, Scotland, was baptised on November 29, 1776 in Bower, Caithness, Scotland, died on December 11, 1852 in "Arnprior" near Braidwood, NSW at age 76, and was buried in Braidwood Cemetery, NSW. He wed on May 22, 1802 in Thurso, Caithness, Scotland to Anne Stewart (sister to a one-time Governor of New South Wales) c1780 in Scotland and died on June 25, 1818 in Marchiston, Edinburgh aged about 38.
Stewart next married Isabella Cassels on May 15, 1825 in St. Cuthbert's Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, daughter of John Cassels and Isabella Neilson. Isabella was born in 1802 in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, was baptised on June 18, 1802 in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, died on May 12, 1855 in "Arnprior" near Braidwood, NSW3 at age 53, and was buried in Braidwood Cemetery, NSW. From Yerang, the earliest settlement in the Yarra Valley was established 1837 by brothers Donald, James and William Ryrie who overlanded from Monaro in NSW with 4 convict stockmen bringing 250 head of stock, also wine grape cuttings. The Ryrie brothers held a 43,000 acre lease on land between Woori Yallock and Olinda Creek that was bordered on the north by the Yarra River.
