Masochist Lover (Part I) By Ofelio Chen Contents |
|||||||||||||||||||
For many things we can’t depend on guesses or predictions by vision or hearing. But some people still believe his or her vision. They believe the present science is the more reliable fact. But they don’t understand that the fact is not real as they imagine.
Sometimes people act just for their convenience. They act as if weakness, as poor, innocent victims. If you don’t know them you will believe them. Who knows what they were thinking about? Maybe they were laughing at your foolery.
Now I’ll tell you a true story. The main characters were Cesar and his ex-wife Rosita. Cesar was Rosita’s husband. Cesar was an inward person. He married Rosita in 1970. Rosita came from Hong Kong; she was a very attractive young woman. Cesar was crazy about her. No matter how much Rosita insulted or dishonored him, he never complained about her unfriendly attitude
I knew from my wife that Rosita didn’t love Cesar. My wife asked her, “Why did you marry Cesar if you don’t like him? “ Rosita replied to my wife,” I married him that because my mother obligated me. In my mind my husband was a tall, handsome young man, but he didn’t look like Cesar- small- short and ugly. She considered she was too much woman for Cesar. When she went some place with Cesar, she let Cesar walked behind her. She considered her husband was a very ugly man to go with her; his appearance could be able to affect her beauty. She didn’t know. “Beauty is only skin deep.”
Sometimes I wondered why Cesar could stand his wife’s rude attitude to him. And I asked him. I said, “Do you think Rosita loves you? Is she a reliable person? I think you should open your eyes. She isn’t the person you imagine. You should think about it.” You know Cesar how to reply me? He said, “I love her, I can sacrifice for her.” When I heard that. I knew I had better shut my mouth. As the Spanish idiom says, shut your mouth and the fly can’t enter” I also learned that. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I thanked Cesar for giving me an interesting lesson. Since then, I changed my philosophy of my life. I couldn’t use my method to standardize something. I believed [love is blind, no rule, unreasonable or illogical and mysterious.] I was really stupid guy. All my worry and concern were useless. But I knew. I couldn’t learn the experience from other person’s head. I had to learn it from myself.
Shame and Regret (Masochist Lover Part II) Contents
Cesar and I were business partners for five years. We had a very good relationship. We could talk to each other about anything. We separated because our family members had increased. We knew for our family interest, benefit and future, we had to expand our business.
Before, I always gave Cesar some advice, and told to him what he should do or what he shouldn’t to do. Even his wife Rose wasn’t content with me. I didn’t pay any attention to that. I also told Cesar’s parents (my brother and sister- law) about how Rose treated their son Cesar. To be honest to protected him; it was my duty. I couldn’t let him fall into a hole without bottom. I knew being an honest person was sometimes very difficult. Not everybody could understand you and accept you. But that still wasn’t my problem. The problem was; if I didn’t tell them the truth, I would feel guilty about myself. My conscience would kill and punish me. I couldn’t pretend that hadn’t happened. That wasn’t my character.
One day in a very early morning. I heard some people were calling my name. At hat time my store wasn’t open yet. But the voices seemed to be familiar. A few seconds later, I realized they were Cesar and his mother. I opened my store’s door and let them in. And I asked them, what had happened and that they looked so anxious about. Cesar said, “Yesterday, I sent my wife Rose to deposit some money in the bank. It was money I borrowed from the club and I was thinking about to canceling the bank loan. But she hadn’t arrived at my home since yesterday. I’m sure she stole my money and ran away with her boyfriend, who was my employee.” And I said, “How do you know that?” His mother said, “I was suspicious of Rose and that guy long time ago. I’m sure she ran away with that guy” When I heard that I was extremely angry, and I said, “ long time ago, I had told you Rose wasn’t love for you, and you and your parents didn’t believed me, and also said I was bad guy. Why do you come here today?” Cesar bowed his head, and not saying any word. And his mother turned her face around and she said, “I know, you did that out of concerned fort him.” And I said it was too late to understand my kindness, when they heard that. They kept silence .I realized they felt sorry and regret about the mistake they had made.
Ask For Help (Masochist Lover Part III) Contents
When I saw Cesar and his mother, they had a guilty looks on their faces. My heart was getting soft, and I felt sympathy for them. Poor them, I should give them a little concern especially at this moment. Furthermore, they were my relatives. I also knew that not everyone has a clear mind to handle something. I had no reason to blame them; I had to responsibility help them.
“What do you want me to help you with?” I said. Cesar said, “My little uncle, can you help me to reclaim the money Rose took from me?” The bank account is in whose name?” I said. “The bank account is in Rose’s name.” Cesar said. “Do you have any other bank account joint with your name?” I said. “No, I was always busy at my business, I almost had no time. Rose did the deposit and other transactions from the bank. All my bank accounts are under Rose’s name.” Cesar said.
When I heard that, I believed that the “there is no remedy to cure the fool” I also knew Cesar didn’t have any right to reclaim his money from Rose because Panamanian law at that time. Husband and wife could have their own bank account or property. A spouse didn’t have the right to reclaim each other’s fortune, even if they got divorced. They considered whose name was on the account. I didn’t want to continue to hurt him and I said, “Let’s go to the police station to report this case.”
When we arrived at the police station, Cesar retold his situation to the police officer. When the police officer realized the fact, he said, “I’m sorry, I can’t help you. You should go to the court to talk with the judge. He is able to help you resolve your problem”
When we arrived at the judge’s office, the judge seemed like a very nice person. He asked Cesar, “Let me see…What problem do you have, country man? Can you tell me about it? Cesar told him all about the matter between him and Rosita. When the judge heard all of their matter, he said, I’m sorry to hear that. But our country doesn’t have any right to sue one’s own wife. You are still young and healthy. You can find another woman who will love you and marry again. But this time you should be wiser! Good luck!
