Before I came into this world, I lived in my own world – small, comfortable, but dark. When I turned over my body or stretched my hands and feet, my mother would soothe me with her hands. Sometimes I could hear my mother sing a song, not strongly, only lightly and slowly.
When I came into this world, I felt a little bit nervous. “What is the world?” I tried to open my eyes to take a look, but he light was too strong. I was not used to it. So I closed my eyes at once. The nurse gave me a bath. I could relax my whole body. Oh, I felt free!
My dad came to see me. My dad said I looked like my ma, but my ma said I looked like my dad. Nonsense! They had hair, I did not have hair, and I had more wrinkles than they did. I thought I looked like an old fellow.
My dad and ma brought me home. Ah, I was so lucky. I had my own bedroom. It was colorful. But my ma said, “Let him stay with us for some time.” So I stayed with my dad and ma at night, but I slept on my little beautiful bed.
In the following days, my grandpa, grandma, uncles, aunts, and cousins came to see me. They liked to say, “Oh, so cute!” I wondered, because I didn’t do any actions or show any emotion. If I was hungry or wet diaper made me uncomfortable, I only cried. The crying was a signal to let my mother help me. How could they know I was cute? They liked to say, “Oh, so beautiful,” too. I thought, “What beautiful? I am a boy. You should say handsome.”
When I was six months old, I liked my dad and ma so much. I always called them “ma ma ma,” “pa pa pa” and smiled at them. To my family, I liked to smile too, but I didn’t like to call them. My grandma taught me to call her, but I didn’t like to call, because “Grand, grand, grand,” it was not so easy to pronounce.
But toward strangers, I felt fear. If they looked at me or touched me, I would pull a long face, turn my head and cry. At that time, my ma would pat my back lightly and say softly, “Don’t! Don’t! Don’t be shy. She is your aunt. Good boy, smile!” So I was gradually used to strangers, smiled and showed m baby teeth – only two of them.
I am eight months old now. I like to hold the rails of my bed and stand up, but not for a long time. I like lying down and sitting more.
But I am so long and so strong, I looked like a baby more than one year old. So some people asked my mother, “Can he speak? Can he walk?” No need to doubt my ability. In the future, I will be a singer and a runner, but I don’t like to speak and walk now. Some people admire me: “Oh, so handsome!” I can be sure I will be more handsome that my dad.

All People In The World Are Brothers and Sisters By Wah You Lee Contents |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
When I was a junior in high school, I learned a sentence; All People in the world are brothers.” It drew a great picture in my mind—all people living in a peaceful, friendly life, oh, how happy they are!
But in reality, it is absolutely different. There is a lot of unfriendliness, hatred, opposition and war. Since the twentieth century, there have been two World Wars. After the second World War, there were civil wars in China, Korea, and Vietnam. Three years ago, there was a war between Bosnia and Serbia. Now the war between Israel and Palestine is proceeding. Also, there have been oppositions between America and Russia, and Western Europe and eastern Europe. All these conflicts have ruined the economy and the civilization of the world and have massacred innumerable people. This is smashing the people’s peaceful dream.
Some wars have happened between “brothers.” All the opposition and war is based on “interests.” There are many kinds of interests. All of the individuals. Groups parties, nations and countries have their own interests. Therefore, there are many oppositions and wars in the world.
During times of opposition and war, many heroes appear. They offer their intelligence and abilities and even their lives to their groups, parties, nations and countries, but they only consider their own interests. If they put themselves in the opposite situation, thought about the interests of the other side, and especially the interests of mankind in general, they would make a concession. The conflicts could be solved.
In the world, there are no enemies forever, nor are there friends forever. So alliance is necessary. I hope that many alliances are fighting for peace, not for war. I hope that everyone will consider the phrase, “We are all brothers and sisters.” Let us live a peaceful life.
