Nauians Alien race indigenous to Pollux V. Thousands of years ago, meteor impacts on their planet caused an ice age, and the Nauians built undergound shelters where they kept themselves in suspended animation until the ice age was over. The security measures of these shelters led to the appearances of demons to intruders, in particular the Acolytes of the Stars sect, which had established a colony on the planet. The stasis machinery failed to awaken the Nauians, and it was through the efforts of the crew of the USS Enterprise that the Nauians were finally revived in 2268. Subsequently, the Nauians expressed a willingness to share their planet with the colonists and apply for membership in the Federation. ("Demon World" [25A]) Conversations with the Nauians reveal that they are aware of the race known as the Ferengi.
Navigation The bridge duty station of the starship's Navigator. It is the bridge control station used for course selection and trajectory. The navigation system also allows for determining the starship's actual position, velocity and direction of travel.

Neutral Zone
There are two Federation neutral zones, one with the Klingon Empire and one with the Romulans. By treaty, no ship is allowed to enter the Romulan Neutral Zone, while the Federation and the Klingon Empire may compete to develop planets in the Klingon Neutral Zone, as specified in the Organian Peace Treaty.
Newton, Issac (1642-1727) Human genius, founder of modern Earth physics and mathematics. Born in Lincolnshire, England, died in Kensington, England. Sir Issac Newton is credited with the development of calculus, the principle of heterogeneity of light, and the three laws of moving bodies. Newton was known for being secretive of his research and hostile towards colleagues. Nonetheless, Newton is, along with Einstein and Hawking, one of the foremost physicists in Earth history. This entry appeared in the disk version of JR, but has been removed from the CD-ROM version. The computer entry erroneously says that Newton was born in 1643.

Nimbus III A barely habitable Class M planet in the Neutral Zone. Dubbed the "Planet of Galactic Peace", Nimbus III was the site of an experiment by the Romulan, Klingon, and Federation governments to bridge the gap between them. A colony of Klingons, Romulans and Federation civilians was established there in 2267, but the experiment was a dismal failure because each government had instead sent their criminals and other social undesirables to the planet. (ST5)

("Demon World" [25A])

The current Captain of the Olympus Mons is Garth Tyler, a descendent of one of the Martian colony founders. The Olympus Mons is currently assigned to Alpha Quadrant near Omega Corvus; its unclassified missions include defending outpost Sigma III against the Elasi, and escorting the famed poet Virchan on her tour of Symphony Alpha. The Olympus Mons' prefix code is A37-654SKT-8ENM1-36E. The references to Virchan and the prefix code have been removed in the CD-Rom version of JR. Furthermore, the removed section referred to Virchan as "...on his tour...", which is wrong since Virchan was established to be a female Vulcan in her entry.

Omega Corvus A Federation system located near the Galactic Barrier. The Omega Corvus system contains a small colony of several hundred scientists who study the Galactic Barrier and some of its more mysterious phenomena.

Omega Maelstrom
An uninhabited system with proto-planetary debris scattered throughout the plane of the elliptic. While some of the asteroids are large enough to support mining operations, all early attempts at developing the system were abandoned as uneconomical. Last report indicates that certain Menalvagorean revolutionaries and pirates may be using abandoned industrial sites as hideouts.
Omegans Single-celled organisms which live on Onyius II. They have a healthy metabolism and long life span, but an extremely low rate of reproduction. They were enemies of the Alphans, another form of single-celled organisms who also live on the planet. In 2269, at Captain Kirk's suggestion, the Omegans agreed to overcome their differences with the Alphans by joining with the Alphans to form a new species, the Gammans. ("Light and Darkness" [JR])
Onacan A Lachian family which has been at odds with the ruling Seransi family. In 2269, members of the Onacan family seized control of the Smithsonian Annex on Nova Atar III, and claimed ownership of the Quelque probe, the probe which discovered the planet Lachian generations ago and led to the successful relocation of the Lachian people. The Onacans agreed to surrender peacefully when the Federation agreed to halt the return of the probe to the Seransi family, and send observers to mediate between the Onacans and the Seransi on the fate of the probe. ("Museum Piece" [JR])

Onyius II
A Class M planet in a system consisting of three unformed planets. Because of the high level of micro-meteorite activity in the system, it is unusual for a Class M planet to exist. The planet is not inhabited and is not scheduled for colonization. ("Light and Darkness" [JR])

Organian Peace Treaty A peace treaty between the Klingons and the Federation inspired by the Organians. (The Organians have enough power to stop all starships everywhere, so the peace will be maintained de facto whether anyone wants it or not.) ("Errand of Mercy" [TOS])
Organians A race of transhumanoid beings that can manifest themselves in many forms; the Organians are a race of extraordinary power and wisdom. Organian intervention in the Klingon-Federation War resulted in the Organian Peace Treaty, which settles border disputes between the two cultures. ("Errand of Mercy" [TOS])
Oroborus Virus A virus deadly to Romulo-Vulcan physiology. The Oroborus virus was named after the mythic worldsnake that swallows its own tail. It was accidentally created on Station ARK-7. Shortly after the creation of the virus, ARK-7 was raided by the Romulans, who were subsequently infected with the virus themselves. The crew of the USS Enterprise were able to synthesize a cure to the virus, and used the cure to treat the Romulans. Following the peaceful withdrawal of the Romulans from ARK-7, all samples of the Oroborus virus were destroyed and all data relating to the virus were erased from the station's computers. ("Love's Labor Jeopardized" [25A]).
