Project - Faucets

A typical project would include placing one faucet in the village for every five households. Kok-noi Ban Klang received twice this amount as a result of higher financial contributions toward this project. A total of ten faucets were constructed throughout the village. The faucets included a concrete base and reinforced PVC piping. Instead of rebar, the base was supported with a lattice of bamboo and the form around the base was constructed of bamboo also. In some projects, bamboo is used instead of rebar in the filter tank as well if rebar is not available.

The rain continued. Lightning was visible every evening, and the showers kept the temperatures reasonable, even if the humidity was sticky.

Instead of rebar, bamboo was used to reinforce the concrete bases of the faucets. Hundreds of pieces of bamboo had to be fashioned to form the bases.

The bases were woven from bamboo. It is all in the technique.

The concrete was mixed up by the water tank. For most of the faucets, a human chain was formed transporting buckets of wet concrete to each faucet base.

Each base was made level, then sloped to allow water runoff. Everyone was sure to leave a lasting impression on at least one base.

The concrete bases will help prevent erosion from the newly installed faucets.

Each faucet was supported by wood. The forms around the concrete were made from bamboo.

The end result was so beautiful.
