Sports

Each day we would enjoy sports activity no matter how exhausted we were. We learned a Thai game called Takraw which is a combination of volleyball and hacky-sack played with a wicker ball. To our surprise, we picked up the jist of the game, only to be amazed at the athleticism of the villagers. We also played volleyball, frisbee, and fished in the river.

For more information on Takraw, check out the picture at this website: www.sepaktakraw.com.

When we arrived, we watched a very strange game. By the time we left, we had earned a high degree of respect for Takraw.

Three on a team and the net is about as high as a badminton net. The ball can be hit three times with either the feet or the head. No hands allowed.

Kim and Sara donned the local cheerleader outfits to cheer on the USA.

The villagers can kick their feet over their heads and "spike" the ball over the net.

Fishing in the river proved challenging. Eating the catch proved courageous.

Hmm, doesn't seem to be too difficult. Wonder what I caught.

Here is something I tried to pick up. Christine makes me go outside to juggle burning swords.

Oops, it is Paul! Never said I was any good at this.
