There was so much "Philly" in this game, you could spread it on a bagel and have breakfast. A couple pet strategies that owners can use to match up with an opponent was demostrated late Monday night as the Eagles scored late in the Monday night game. At that point Outlaw and Rick Moses were tied 23-all. Then Donavan McNabb threw a TD pass to James Thrash. The consequences for the BRFL game was as follows:
But one could argue that what I just told you is a load of crap. Outlaw started Baltimore QBs and Rick Moses countered with Matt Stover and Qadry Ismail. The Stover/Ismail vs Bal QB actally netted two MORE points than the Thrash/Akers vs PHL QB. The net of this game was that Outlaw got a TD from another player (Bubba Franks) and R-Mo did not. This game was played between the remote owners of the BRFL. Outlaw lives in Toronto and Rick Moses in New Jersey. "MRI Monday" revealed that two receivers were injured and are lost for the season: Marcus Robinson and Germane Crowell. Both belong to Rick Moses. R-Mo was very thin at WR to begin with. Now, Qadry Ismail is his only healthy reciever. Rod Gardner, David Patten anyone? Around the BRFL it was truly "stinker Sunday" as low scores were the order of the day. If you examine the Weekly Summary, you will notice that teams averaged 29.6 points. In four of the previous five weeks, that average was over 40. New England WR David Patten, who ran, threw and Caught (2) Tds accounted for 27 points. He alone would have tied of beaten seven BRFL teams! |

Jones-Klingman 27 Brad Moses 24JK did not impress with scoring totals. Only one TD and a two pointer from Peyton Manning and 11 points form Ram kicker Jeff Wilkins provided the bulk of the scoring. Brad Moses also recieved the bulk of his points from a a QB and a kicker: Atlanta QB and Mike VanderJagt. B-Mo falls to 3-3 |

Cantrell 34 Cousins 24"Missing the Bus" cost Cousins a win and leaves him at 0-6. Last week, he failed to start Eddie George and that cost him a win against McCowan. Cousins is the first 0-6 team since Barry in 1995. The week did start promising for CC and early scores were recorded by Az Hakim and Wesley Walls. Cantrell has been noted for working teh waiver wire to rebuild his team. This week he worked special reserve to land Jay Feely 8 points and the Chicago D (7). |

Dietrich 27 Best 23Usually when Bud plays Best, these two light up the scoreboard as evidenced by the 127 combined points scored in the '99 Super Bowl. The 27 and 23 scored in this game represents the third and second worst totals in this 10 game series. This week Bud got TDs from Tim Biakabutuka and Eric Moulds. It was Biakabutuka's season swan song as he broke is foot and his lost for the year. James Allen may have lost his job and Terry Gleen did not dress. Some guy named David Patten replaced him and scored 27 points...the same as what Bud scored. |

Ricker 38 McCowan 27McCowan (3-2-1) lost for the second time, but maintains a 1/2 game lead in the West as both Jackson and Moses lost. Only the KC QBs and Marvin Harrison managed a TD in this low scoring week. |

Brown 55 Jackson 19Jackson ended a three game winning streak. The only bright spot was a guy that Jackson picked up earlier, Anthony Thomas, scoring 9 points. The "A-Train" will probably find a spot in Jackson's line-up immediately as usual starters Terry Allen and James Stewart have not been impressive of late. |

Week 6 Preview |
|
Six weeks into the season and in most places, things have tightened up. Every team that was 3-1 going into last weekend lost. Every team
that was 1-3 going into last weekend won. So we have a lot of 3-2s and 2-3s. The parity is in the middle, but there are extremes: JK is 5-0 and
Cousins and 0-5. Both are rarities at this time in the season. Looking at week 6 since 1993 we have had jsut one 5-0 team (Bud, 1995) and two 0-5 teams
(Barry 1995 and Talbot 1999). Like this season and 1995, 1992 was such a year where we had both undefeated and winless teams in week 6. At 5-0 were Czupryna and Ricker, at 0-5 were Bratcher and Berger-Browell.
Last week was not a good week for me picking football games. I was 2-4 and my season record to 18-11-1. I even lost picking games to my seven year
old. "Daddy, I like Green Bay over Baltimore, Seattle over Denver and New England over San Diego"

Ricker (2-3) vs McCowan (3-1-1) (-1.5)Ricker gets the Rams against the Jets. Last week the Rams were stalled by, but victorious over that other New York team, so expect them to a lot more paydirt this week. We tend to overlook the rest of Ricker's roster and with good reason as he's got a practice squad guy and an total free agent. However, most weeks, he won't need them. This is one of those weeks. Ricker in a tight one. |
Brown (3-2) vs Jackson (3-2) (-8)Jackson's been a pretty good mood this week. And it ain't just from the pure oxygen they have been giving him. He has won three straight and is now scored more points than any other team in the BRFL. Pneumonia can't get him down, either will Nander. Welcome Home, Calvin. |
Cantrell (1-4) vs Cousins (0-5) |
Best (3-2) vs Deitrich (2-3)Last week Best was stunned by Moses 49-48 and left 20 points on the pine. This week Laveranues Coles and Ron Dayne are in the lineup. The Vikings are facing the Packers (Duante Culpepper had 4 TDs against them last year). These two teams have played very high scoring games over their history with an average score of 52-34. They trade off victories. Since Bud one the last one, Best will win this one. |
Rick Moses (3-2) vs Outlaw (1-3-1)After showing early promise, Outlaw has faded significantly in recent weeks. In week 5, he gift wrapped victory for Cantrell. One hopes that that was the season's low point. He'll recover, but not this week: Outlaw to fall to 0-2 against the Moses family. |
Jones/Klingman (5-0) vs Brad Moses (3-2)You wouldn't expect gods to frown on anyone named Moses, but B-Mo used up about three seasons worth of luck last week in his 49-48 win over Best. First he pulls Warrick Dunn (13 points) from his lineup at 12:59 AND then Emmitt Smith fails to score on Monday night. Not to mention Ricky Williams scoring on the last play of the game... Hines Ward with a dubious stretch to the stripe... Much, much, too much luck. But I'm over that... I think.... Maybe... |
