Jones-Klingsman is no longer undefeated. They had won the first six games this season after sweeping the playoffs in 2000. McCowan administered
the punishment 73-56. It was the highest scoring BRFL game of the season with 129 points scored. The game started with the Thursday night Indy/KC game. DMC's KC QBs scored 21 points. JK's Indy QBs countered with 14, but both of those scores went to Marcus Pollard and Marvin Harrison - DMC's guys. The score going into the weekend was DMC 34 JK 15. In the early Sunday games, DMC added 12 from kicker Martin Grammatica, and this game appeared over by halftime. Then JK rallied furiously in the second halves of the early games with scores from Joe Horn (2) and the Saints D. At the start of the late games, JK had claimed the lead 50-46 and extended it to 10 with an Ike Hilliard TD. However, McCowan rallied quickly in the third quarter with back to back scores from Lamar and Rod Smith. A Denver defensive TD was added later. The 6-0 start is now tied for the second longest winning streak since the start of the season. Bud's 13-0 start in 1995 is tops. In 92, Czupryna had a 6-0 start, also coming on the heels of a championship. CZ was also stopped in week 7. JK also has the distinction of having both a nine game winning and nine game losing streak. McCowan proved worthy of his lofty ranking, the 73 point game is the leagues highest this season. The win allows him to keep a 1/2 game lead in the West at 4-2-1. Trailers Jackson and Brad Moses were also winners. |

Cousins 20 Outlaw 14From the higest scoring to the lowest scoring and as you would expect, two last place teams. However, there is big news in that Calvin Cousins is finally a winner! It's not the worst ever BRFL debut. Twice teams had lost 10 games to open their BRFL careers, Howrigon in 1991 and Barry in 1995. The 34 combined points is the lowest scoring BRFL game this year. In fact, you have to go back to 1999 wk 10 Stroupe 23 Talbot 10 to find a lower scoring game. Cousins got a TD from Tennessee's QBs and Az Hakim. For the second straight week, Jerome Bettis was left on the pine with a two TD game. Outlaw was depleted by his bye week, but missed an opportunity to tie by leaving Miami QBs on the bench. It was Outlaw's worst game since 1993 wk 14 Czupryna 23 Outlaw 10. |

Brad Moses 62 Brown 35Brown reluctantly jumped on the David Patten bandwagon (claimed and then tried to recall him a couple days later), but Patten did not immediately head for obscurity...he scored again this week along with Troy Brown. The other end of those TDs, Tom Brady, sat on Nander's bench. His starter, Oakland went scoreless. Trung Canidate picked up another score, but his days may be numbered as Marshall Faulk should return soon. |

Best 47 Rick Moses 28Rick Moses, he of the three big backs, had zero TDs among his backs, but two TDs among his WRs, Qadry Ismail and Darnay Scott. Newly acquired David Terrell was on the bench with two scores. Other than them being shut down, R-Mo may have other problems with his backs as both Edgerrin James and LaDainian Tomlinson came up injured. They may miss some time in upcoming games. That's important for week 8 as he faces his brother. |

Jackson 47 Ricker 38Ricker lost an opportunity to tie for the in the East, and now falls to third with the same record as Cantrell. Next week's game should be interesting as a the Rams take thir bye. |

Cantrell 35 Dietrich 23After averaging about 42 points in the season's first three weeks, Bud has yet to score than many since the first rounded of division play ended. He has only averaged 27 ppg since then. His points of note this week came two scores from Denver QBs and a score from the newly acquired Rod Gardner. When does Fred Taylor come back? |

Forget parity...check out symmetry. Look at the league standings. Each divison leader is mirrored at bottom by a team with the opposite
record. In the center of each division are two 3-3 teams. I thought I'd point that out...Just a weird stat.
Last week was another sorry week for picking games. I was 2-4 and am beginning to flatten out at 20-15-1. I have not yet had that "triple win weekend" yet this year that has my fantasy team, NC State and the Vikings all win. They are all 3-3 and there is a pattern. If NC State wins on Saturday, my fantasy team will also win, but the Vikings will lose. If NC State loses, the Vikings will win, but my fantasy team will lose. Every single week this has happened. More evidence of symmetry, I guess. |
Ricker (3-3) vs Jackson (3-3)Jackson saw his three game winning streak crash to earth last week as he was whipped by Brown. He was without the services of San Francisco QBs and Terrell Owens. This week they return, but face Chicago... Chicago has a good defense again. (Probably for the first time since '91). Jackson will unveil the A-Train, Anthony Thomas. The man had 188 yards last week. He's ready for prime time. Ricker won last week despite a below average game from his Rams. The Rams return home this week, but also face a tough D in New Orleans. Tough, but familar. A shootout is possible. Ricker hasn't beaten Jackson since '95. He will this week. |
Brown (4-2) vs Brad Moses (3-3)Brad Moses will be without Atlanta QBs. His choice is New Orleans at St Louis or to go fishing. Brad might as well go fishing. For real. Nander is all over this. |
Cantrell (2-4) vs Deitrich (3-3) |
Best (3-3) vs Rick Moses (3-3)It's the battle of the teams with weak wideouts. Both these teams will start three backs. Best leads the league in point percentage by QB...if you've never seen this interesting stat page on myfl . His Minnesota QBs are leading the BRFL in points scored, but this week they face Tampa in Tampa. The Bucs are desparate. Best's other players have rather favorable matchups. This might be the week that he relys on them rather than on Culpepper. R-Mo's three starting running backs are in the top six in fantasy statistics. He has a competant QB in McNabb. Bye weeks to the backs and McNabb have been keeping him down the last couple weeks. He's full strength this week. Look for a huge R-Mo win. |
Jones/Klingman (6-0) vs McCowan (3-2-1)McCowan does match up well with JK, as he owns Marvin Harrison and Marcus Pollard. JK does match up well with either QB that McCowan could start, NYG or KC. I do smell an upset, but I said that last week I was going to ride the JK train as far as it takes me. |
Cousins (0-6) vs Outlaw (2-3-1) |
