Commander Deanna Troi Counselor, USS Enterprise Deanna Troi is the daughter of a human Starfleet officer and Betazoid royalty. Troi is not fully telepathic like her mother, but is capable of some telepathic communication with other Betazoids and is good at sensing people's emotions. Troi stayed on Betazed for most of her life and met a Starfleet officer named Will Riker. Troi joined Starfleet and became a counselor. She was assigned to the Enterprise-D as a Lt. Commander, where she was reunited with Riker. Their past relationship brought the two of them close again, though they never fully committed to one another. Deanna even became close to Worf, though their dating was short-lived. Deanna passed the Commander's exam and took on command duties. She remained devoted to counseling, however, and continued to help her crewmates, including Reg Barclay, who worked on the Pathfinder Project. Troi finally married Will Riker, and they left the Enterprise together to serve on his new ship, the USS Titan.
