Measuring is an absolute necessity in many facets of modelling including testing. Some may be quantitative, while some may be qualitative. These include length, angles, grades, volume, weight, speed, draw bar pull, electrical values and even centering. Some of these may be combined to yield valuable information. Accuracy depends on the application, but in general the closer the better, within reason. The devices and methods used vary widely in cost, complexity and accuracy. The least expensive are your BUILT-INS: eyeball, feel and hearing. For specific tools see TOOLS INDEX/MEASURING & ALIGNING
