Mission #28
Completed by Torgorch
I, Torgorch snuck out the back tunnels of Salamandastron and headed to Mossflower. While camping out near a  stream I heard a noise. I notched an arrow and..."Whoa, calm down"said our allie friend Log-a-Log. He was surrounded by his tribe of shrews. I explained our situation back at Salamandastron and the whole tribe agreed to help us. We worked our way southwest and came across the well known sparra warriors. They agreed to fly spying missions on the vermin when we got back to Salamandastron. A couple of days later we came to Redwall. They had just started the annual name day feast and let us join them.Redcurrant wall cake, honeyed baked apples, staberry cordial, crispy carrot,. cakes just to name a few. After the feast the Abbey elders and I held a conference of war. About fifty volunteers agreed to help us.We left the next morning and returned to Salamandastron. When we got there Tammo greeted us "Well, I think we will give those blinkin' vermin a show now , wot wot?"
Mission 20: Sustenance Seekers
By: Lacroon the Gallant
"Sashila an' Swordbane, Tammo's told us to go on a spiffin' food-findin' mission.  Let's get goin', with the battle continuing, none of those ugly blue blighters'll be lookin' fer us now, doncha know!" said Colonel Lacroon as he strode into the barracks at Salamandastron. Picking up his weapons, Sashila saluted, saying "Right y'are ol' chap,  right y'ar.  Let's go!" Fingering his sword, the ferret sitting beside Sashila winked at Lacroon, continuing with "Aye, that's a grand ol' plan, matey." Always a bit uneasy in the presence of the new ferret recruit, Lacroon coughed nervously and added, "Well, ahem, let's be goin', tis' almost dark an' I don't mind tellin' ye I'm a mite starved right about now, wot!" The trio silently left the mountain by a secret back exit under cover of  darkness.  Each had two empty burlap sacks slung over their shoulders to hold any food they could find.  Suddenly, Swordbane stopped.  Looking at Lacroon he said, "I just remembered a stream a ways north o' hereabouts.  Ah'll do some fishing there, an' meet th' both of you a bit later." Without bothering to see if this idea was acceptable, the ferret was bounding northwards with the two hares staring after him.  "Well, I s'pos we'd better get goin'."  suggested Lacroon, and the two headed into Mossflower to find roots, berries, fruits, and anything else edible. The sacks were nearly full when the pair suddenly heard voices coming from straight ahead.  Lacroon hissed, "Must be a vermin forage party, let's go, wot."  Sashila nodded and they crept away from the sounds, until a searat bumped into them from the opposite side. Lacroon shouted, "Eulaliaaaaaaaa!" and threw himself at the surprised vermin, killing him with his longsword before a score or more vermin appeared around them. Their leader, a large stoat, shouted, "Take them alive!" Dropping their sacks, the hares backed up against a large oak and took up fighting stances.  "Let's take some with us, eh ol' chap?"  suggested Sashila. "Aye young 'un, let's...eulaliaaaaa!" The pair fought on against the overwhelming odds, Lacroon with his sword and Sashila with a loaded swing.  Finally, they went down under sheer weight of their enemies.  They were soon roped together and being yanked along the path towards the vermin camp.  The vermin however had lost three searats, two weasels and a pair of ferrets, with four more searats with sizable wounds. After the group had come near to the edge of the woods, who should come rushing out of the shadows but Swordbane!  He leaped over the hedges and barreled through the vermin guarding the prisoners.  Swinging his sword left and right, he cut through the ranks like a scythe. "Thought y' two might need a mite o' help!  Here, I'll cut y' free!"  with two deft slices, the hares were freed and jumping up to aid the good ferret, seizing their weapons back from terrified vermin and joining in the fray. After only a few moments, the stoat in charge lay dead on the ground, surrounded by ten of his comrades.  The remaining few who weren't dead or fatally wounded were high-tailing it to the camp. "Thanks, ol' pal," panted Lacroon, "it was gettin' a bit sticky back there, doncha know!"  After Sashila echoed his praise, Swordbane waved off the compliments good-naturedly. "Ah, t'was nothin'.  You two'd 'ave done the same fer me, and I knows it.  When I didn't find you at the meetin' place, I followed your trail to this dirty bunch.  Y'know the rest.  I got aplenty o' fish in the old stream, an' it looks like you two 'ad some luck too,"  he gestured towards the full sacks that the Blue Hordebeasts had left behind.  "C'mon, let's go back home." The three friends then headed off towards the mountain.

Mission 21: Cured Creatures
By Lacroon the Gallant
"Yes, (sniff, sniff), may I help you?" asked the young dormouse who opened the Redwall gate for Lacroon. "My, my, young sir, you don't look very top-hole, do you?  Well, no matter, me an' my lads are here to fix up your abbey all good an' proper, wot," offered the hare as he made an elegant leg to the abbeybeast. "Oh, thank you, kind sirs (achooooo!).  Come inside and have some food.  I'm, (cough), afraid the best I can offer you is some bread and cheese.  This blasted (wheeze) sickness has wiped out the entire kitchen staff." "Thank you, good sir, we'll help in any way we can, won't we chaps?" began Perigord.  The other beasts Dandin, Reddback, and Sashila, echoed his statement and went inside with the gatekeeper, Brother Nolan. Abbess Gretchen met them coming across the lawn to the main building.  The old mouse looked as though she had seen better days as well.  "Oh, thank goodness you've arrived (sniff).  Pardon me, but this illness has seemed to hit everyone at once.  The infirmary is full, and nearly everyone is unable to do anything at all.  Please (cough, cough), help us," she beseeched the crew. "Don't fret yerself about that, marm, just point us in the right direction and we'll find the jolly ol' cure, wot!" "Well, you see, we don't know what this cure is, per se.  All we have is a (sniff) cryptic scroll many seasons ago.  It says to look on the riverbanks for a red mezzo plant.  That's (cough) all we have to go on.  Maybe you can make some sense of it." "We'll do our best, sir and marm, y' c'n be sure of that!" "Aye, Lacroon! We've been lookin' in this 'ere riverbank fer bally ages!  I'm positively famished, an' we don't even know what we're lookin' fer," panted Dandin, his paws stained and mud-plastered from searching for the curing plant. Lacroon plopped down heavily under the shade of a beech tree."All, right, everybeast, y' c'n rest for awhile.  I don't see how we're supposed to find this bally plant anyway, we don't even know what it looks like." Suddenly, the four creatures jumped up startled when a large otter appeared in front of them, dripping. "Ahoy, mates!" he greeted the surprised searchers. "Bad form, sneakin' up on a chap like that, you know, positively bad form!  Who are you, sir, anyhow? The otter grinned and stretched his paws.  "The name's Sleektail.  I live in a holt a liddle ways upstream.  What seems t'be the trouble, mateys?" "The jolly good Redwallers are sick, doncha know, and we're lookin' fer some red mezzo plants, heard it was the cure, wot." "Ha, I can help y' find the plants if'n ye want," the otter dove back into the water perfectly and disappeared with a tiny ripple.  In a few minutes, Sleektail was back clutching what looked like a bunch of red milkweeds with a paw.  "Here, y'are, mates!  I've got to get back t' my patrollin' an' all, but give me best to the good abbeybeasts.  So long!" and with that he was gone. Within a few days, all creatures were feeling much better after taking some of the juice of the mezzo plants. "We can't thank you enough for saving our abbey, kind sirs!" began the abbess at a feast in their honor a week after arriving. "Well, (munch, munch), y' could show some of that appreciation by passin' another one of those scones this way, marm!"
Mission 37
Completed by Torgorch:  I knew all of the hares who were lost and considered it my personal duty to bring them back.We traveled only by night because plains don't provide much camoflauge. Then we came across a group of weasels. They had every one of our hares.Making sure they did not see us we placed our archers in the trees.Me among them. We all lighted our arrows with fire and shot the ground. The weasels went crazy with fear.I jumped down from my tree and ran to  the middle of the camp with the warriors that did not carry bows behind me.We made pretty short work of it all. While the pandemonium was rising , the warriors chased after the weasels that were  not slain and I untied the bindings of the prisoners. We called our ten warriors together and marched home.
