I was hiding behind a tree as I watched the searats march toward me. The other twenty-four members of this mission were also hiding. We had surrounded the searats and were ready to open fire.
I let out a bark. It surprised the rats, but signaled the hares. In a flash, twenty-five vermin fell dead. I watched as three hares ran out to the remaining five. I notched an arrow into my crossbow and aimed. As one searat went down, the hare ducked as a vicious-looking sword swung toward her. As the rat prepared to swing again, he sighed and fell face-first into the grass with an arrow sticking out of his back. I shot my arrow into the side of a rat that was throttling a hare. The hare took advantage of the vermins moment of pain. It pulled out a dagger and staved the rat. The remaining vermin ran for the sea, but was killed before he made it.
In a few minutes, we were heading back to Salamandastron.

I was patrolling the northern wall of Redwall when I heard a sound in the forest. I peered over the wall. I saw the remaining twenty stoats that had attacked my home village. I fitted three arrows on my crossbow and took aim. After I shot them, I moved to a different part of the wall and did the same thing. The stoats started ducking behind trees and returned fire. But I was no longer up there. As gently as I could, I opened the north wall gate. I charged out into their midst, the Bloodwrath was in control of me. When I was back in control of myself, I was standing in the midst of a slaughter. Not a scene I would ever want to recall again.

I was in the lower levels of Salamandastron. That seemed to be the place where the crabs were thickest. There were so many that I had to jump from one crabs shell to the next and avoid those dangerous pinchers of theirs. And it wasn’t easy. I was getting extremely annoyed of these crabs. They were everywhere, in every single room of Salamandastron. The crabs were even killing any beast that came too close to them.
I was about to turn back when I saw a hole in the floor up ahead. One crab crawl out of the hole at a time.

“So that is how that got in!” I said to myself.
Nearby, I saw boulder that was just the right size to fit snuggly in the hole. When I reached it, grunted and heaved until it was lifted. I walked slowly over to the hole. As I reached it, a crab was trying to climb out. I kneed it in the eyes and it fell back in, knocking others down as it went. I smiled as I dropped the boulder into place. Now that no more crabs could get through, we had to get the ones that were in out. I headed back toward to higher levels.

It was night when we left to forage for food. I was carrying two baskets as I climbed out of a small window. I waited for the three hares to join me outside before we started down the mountain. After several minutes we reached the base of Salamandastron. We broke up, but headed the same way from different positions. I had to duck behind a tree or bush several times as vermin passed me. When I was sure I had made it, I began to forage. I found a pear tree and dropped at least a dozen into a basket. Then I found some apples, grain, and berries. I continually piled food into the basket until it was full. The other basket was specially made to carry water. I heard a stream nearby and headed for it. When that basket was full, I started to head back. That is when trouble occurred. Two ferrets were walking toward the stream—and me. I found a boulder to hide behind, but wasn’t fast enough. “Come out, you!” one called out. I drew my sword and notched an arrow on to my crossbow. I stood to my full height, hiding my weapons. “Its that one badger that had killed Cap’n Mida!” the other ferret said. Before either could call out an alarm, I shot my crossbow and jumped over the boulder in one move. The ferret I shot dropped dead. The other tried run, but I hurled my sword like it was a spear. The ferret didn’t get far. I was soon on my way back to Salamandastron.

I was hiding in some bushes as I watched the ugly lizards march toward me. The other twenty-four members of this mission were also hiding. We had surrounded the Death Corps Horde and were ready to open fire. I let out a fierce bark. It surprised the lizards, but signaled the hares. In a flash, twenty-five lizards fell dead. I ran out to the remaining five. I grabbed two lizards’ tails and started to swing them over my head. As I released them, I ducked as a vicious-looking sword swung toward me. As the lizard prepared to swing again, he sighed and fell face-first into the grass with an arrow sticking out of his neck. The remaining two fought a couple of hares, but didn’t last long. In a few minutes, we were heading back to Salamandastron.

The forty hares and I—Bronto—crept as silently as we could. We had reached Redwall as quickly as possible. I had been to Redwall once, and it was a beautiful place. But the easy and adventure less life of the Abbey just didn’t fit my tastes. We had left for the Abbey the moment that the report of its capture reached us. We are now making our way to the east gate. A hare next to me pointed toward the wall top. A single guard was marching back and forth. I signaled a hare with a long bow. A shaft flew up and hit the stoat guard in the neck. He fell from sight as a call went up from other guards. I stood and ran to the gate. I put all my weight into the gate; it shattered like thin ice under your footpaw. The two guards who guarded that gate turned to see what was outside. Two arrows hit them and they fell dead.
I rushed into the courtyard. Apparently the horde leader had called some type of a meeting. All the Redwallers and vermin were outside. I ran for the Abbey, where the leader had ran. The Redwallers, having seen a badger stampeding across the lawn backed by forty hares, encouraged them to start fighting back.
“Kill them! Kill them all!!” I shouted to the hares and Redwallers before entering the Abbey.
Inside, I heard the rat’s feet stamping up a stairway. Using my unique sense of smell, I ran up another stairway to intercept him.
Reached the top floor first and hid, waiting. Knowing all vermin, they try to stay as far from a fight—if they’re alone—as possible. Sure enough, the vermin leader appeared and walked to a window to view the battle.
“Where is that badger?” he asked himself. “Right here!” I answered.
He turned just in time to see a giant paw heading towards his face. My punch was so powerful it flung him through the window and out into open air. His scream pierced the still air as he fell all fighting below stopped to watch the rat fall. He landed with a splash in the pond. I pulled out my crossbow as he emerged and swam for shore. When he was in shallower waters, I let the arrow fly. It killed him instantly. Seeing their leader fall, all fight went out of the vermin. We had won! Redwall was saved!!
Mission # 70
I put together a squad of creatures, mainly otters because they could attack from the water. We headed off, near to evening so we could attack in the dark, for the forest part of the river, the opposite of where the village was. They probably wouldn’t expect us to attack from there. We reached there just when the last rays of day slipped away. We got a quick meal and made a plan. Now, time for action. The otters dived in near the camp. They surfaced and then attacked from the water. Then the others, or us, charged. They had been weaker than we thought. None of them lived to tell the story.
