Mission #83
Done by Swiftback
Since I knew that they wouldn't take long for the vermin to attack, I immediately got everybody to help in some way. First, I assigned lookouts, day and night. Then I got all the moles to dig holes surrounding us about 30 feet from the mountain. After that, I assigned a couple of beasts to ask Irongrip to make 200 sharpened spearheads. We put those at the bottom of the pits. When we finished with all those, we gathered pebbles to boulders and put them on top of the mountain. Then, we gathered dry driftwood, grass and flint and put those at every window, after making them only slits. We also put barrels of arrows, sling pebbles and spears at the windows. We got all the vegitation off the sides of the mountain, putting it inside. Finally, we blocked all the entrances. We waited two days. "Major Swiftback, we have sighted the army," one of the lookouts told me. "Good. We are ready for them. Get everybody to their stations, on the double." "Yes sir." We just hid in the mountain, seeing what they were going to do. "Cheeeaaaarge!!!!" Their leader called out. They ran with battering rams for the door, but before they could reach them, they fell in the pits, losing two and a half score fighters. Then, while they were still in range, but retreating, the archers, slingers and spear throwers made their move, killing three score more. The survivers hid out of range. Then, three nights later, they attacked again, but we were ready. We lit the grass and driftwood and threw them out the window, killing half the remaining army. Then, we pushed down the boulders from the top. Before the remaining ones could get away, we emptied the rest of thebarrels of rocks, arrows and spears. Only 32 vermin remained when the
retreated for good.
Mission *34
Done by Redback
As I seem to unaffected by this strange flu, I realized that a lot of the group have changed their diet, thus lowering your blinking defense stuff that protects you getten' sick or what ever it called So, me bein' a squirrel and all I climbed to the very top of the libary and got me self the oldest book I could on cures and Herbs. So I opened it up, and great! 'Twas in ancient Lomehedge writing, but thank goodness I payed attention to my teaching at Redwall before I left, I was only a dibben you know? But that is another story. So I start readin' and it said right before mine own eyes it said to cure, flu of disease or something like that I don't know it cook up the sick creature or creatures each very special diet. Oh my goodness, well sorry Tammo, and Irongrip the cook comes first this time, I made the cooks favorite meal for him and I could tell by the way he ate it. that settle the whole matter. In a four week's time everybeast was better.
Mission #71
Completed by Redback
Well as soon as I recieved word that that my (step_adoptive) family was under an attack, you can guess what I did. I took the nearest score and set off after the Vermin. When I finally got there I was too late. They were gone, not dead, but taken as Slaves, well at least not for long, Trailblazer, our runner came back and reported that they were a night ahead of us. I so Took off after then bye mid-day we saw them so we dicied to what until dark. When it was dark I took my 5 best archers and we took out all six sentries. To me it looked like arrows grew out of their bodies. So when snuck futher into there camp i mapped when the vermin, mostly Stoats and rats. So I took the archers and javelins and told them where to shoot, Sucess we would had them bye surpise but on the scam screamed when he died. So we Charged into there camp I dropped the two closest with me arrows as I ran toward the Slaves they were safe. I went to over look the battle ground the the leader and a fine dirk and two handed sword so I took them both. Now arrows on my side as I carry my sword on my back and my dirk threw the shoulder strap, as we walk back to the great Mountian I wonder what would've happen if I had dicied to stay at the mountian would my family be alive. So as we approach the mountian, I wonder will next young be a warrior or a peaceful creature I will always hope for the peace full one..
Mission #73
Completed by Urthblade
I watched the three foxes from behind an old oak tree. The vermin were apparently waiting for someone. I felt the Bloodwrath rise in me as I remembered what my mission was. The poor female hare was one of my friends, Songbrook. A tear ran down my cheek as I remembered her beautiful voice singing. I knew I was going to avenge her death before the day was through. Suddenly, the foxes stopped talking to one another as a hooded figure walked up to them. One fox said, “We did our job. Where is our pay?” “The three of you have done well.” The beast said. I noticed a small shift in the robes it wore. The figure continued to talk, “So, here is your three’s reward.” Suddenly, two throwing daggers flew out of the robes. They buried themselves in the foxes. The third turned to run, but my arrow found its mark. The fox fell dead. I stepped out from my hiding place, pointing my crossbow at the double-crosser. The figure didn’t seem scared. It said, “If your going to take me back to Salamanastron, Urthblade, you may as well kill me.” It pulled its robes off to reveal a mouse. I immediately recognized him as Jared Fieldmouse. Jared pulled out a curved dirk. “Put down your crossbow and fight me!” I did as bidden, and pulled out my broad sword. Jared attacked me a fury. I grabbed Jared and tossed aside. He charged again. I raised my sword to swing, but kicked out instead. Jared jumped over my leg and knocked the sword from my grasp. It fell behind me. Jared punched me in my nose. I fell to the ground, landing on the flat of my sword. To my worst fear, the broad sword that Lord Russano had given me broke under my colossal weight. I grabbed Jared and threw him head first into a tree. Standing up, I picked my broken sword. The blade couldn’t be put back together. But the handle still had potential. Turning, I picked up the traitor and dragged his dead form back to Salamandastron.
Mission #86
Completed by Torgorch
First things first as me Mum used ta say. I gathered all the hares willing to go with me on this mission, about 40 hares they were. I chose me good mate Danno to acompany as secondary officer. we traveled to Redwall in about two days. As we approached the outer walls we heard a distant "Kree! Long-ears comin' Lord Steelwing!" Suddenly half a score large black birds came zooming down toawrds us. Luckily we dropped half of them quickly and escaped in to Mossflower. Later at our camp we heard "LOGALOGALOG" as the gousim came at us. Once they realized we were from Salamandastron they took us back to the stream. There we met up with the Redwallers. They werent in the best shape. We organized all the warriors and built some seiging towers. Then all the able-bodied redwallers, the gousim and us set of. The Redwallers went right up to the walls and started climbing up the steep stone. Some were pecked at by the birds. Meanwhile my hares and the gousim fired our bows and slings getting the birds of the abbeydewllers backs. Then all the hares and I picked up our short ranged weapons and charged the main gates. The gousim stayed behind in the forest outskirts to keep firing javelins, slings and bows at the defending birds. Just as the first Redwallers were reaching the upper layers we broke the gate. charging thru screaming "Eulalia!!" I slew the leader and four more. We gutted all the birds easily once we got them on the ground. Once again the Redwallers thanked us, and once again it was bally nothing!-Torgorch

#49 Completed by Swiftback
Immediately, I grabbed my weapons, picked a score of fighters and trackers and and rushed out. We followed their tracks until we reached a rock pileup. The tracks disappeared at the pile-up. They probably covered them. We got out our weapons and walked in. About 20 paces or so, there was a forked tunnel. I picked the best fighter to be the leader of half a score of fighters and trackers and had them go one way and I took the rest the other way. We came to a dead end about 200 yards after the fork in the tunnel. I slumped down against the wall. All of a sudden, it moved! We came to a room where there was a battle going on! The other squad had already arrived. I picked 2 moles to escort the cook out and 2 hares and 3 otters to guard them. The rest of us joined in the battle. A while later, the battling finished. We had wiped them out. We only had 2 dead while none of the enemy had survived. We rushed as quickly as our injuries would permit us to catch up to the cook and the others. When we arrived at the mountain, there was snacks waiting for us because the cook had gotten home before us. Yummy!
