Mission # 60; Completed by Swiftback I gathered my squad and headed off to the direction of the ferrets. By the time I got there, it was evening. The shadows had lengthened. We ducked and weaved. I stood up to a ferret. "How are you this evening, Sir Ferret?" Just when he was about to reply, I slew him instantly with my blade. We went around doing that until finally they realized that there was enemys in the camp. They only had a half a score of them left. We ran into the shadows. "Where did they go?" some stupid ferret asked. I gathered all the squirrels with bows. We shot until they had five left. Then the hares bounded out of the brush and slew the rest. "Well, that was easy. Only one dead." MISSION:ACCOMPLISHED Mission #45 Completed by Iceflash From my window on the mountain I could see the vermin coming onto shore. I sent the call through out the mountain to take up your weapons. The window spaces and slots were filled with archers, the shore was full of javelin beasts and slingers. I stood next to the group on shore. There were deep narrow trenches cut in the ground covered over by leaves and drift wood. On my signal Long Patrol hares would pop up and fire there arrows and spears. The vermin were all on shore now and they drew weapons to charge. And charge they did. The volleys of arrows rained down on the foe from above as the horde ran over our trenches. I gave the order for the first row slingers to fire and drop back. Then the javelins came up and let them fly. When the last vermin had passed the trenches I gave the order to jump up and attack. The vermin were unaware of the attack from behind, there numbers were almost cut in half from the unexpected attack. My crew loosed off what little ammo they had left and drew close range weapons. Some of the beasts firing from behind ran into the mountain ready to charge from the main gates if needed the rest ran to the vermin fleet and set fire to the ships which none of the vermin noticed. Since it would be to dangerous to fire on the battle the archers left there spots at the window and joined the beast waiting at the front gate. The battle was long and both sides were losing fighters. Tammo called for the rush to come from the mountain. Some vermin were scared and ran back to there vessels only to discover there was nothing left. Others stayed to fight and still others ran the wrong way and were soon picked off. We diminished the rest off the horde and the ones taken prisoner down by there fleet were made to bury our dead and throw their own into the sea. Though many were lost we still won and we saved our mountain from another vermin attack. Mission #43 Completed by Kailia I took a dozen Long Patrol members with me when I got the mission, armed only with their usual weaponry, and headed out to the marked area. It was quiet when we marched in, and I told those marching with me to keep low. They didn't need the prompting, and crept with me through the swamp. One of them, a sharpeyed hare I'd placed near the back to watch, spotted a rustling in the undergrowth. We charged, shouts of Eulalia and all, only to find three of the members of the original patrol, two hares and a wiry looking shrew. They were a gristly sight, pale and bloodied, though thankfully not terribly harmed. After cleaning them up and tending their injuries, we learend from them that they'd been attacked by nearly all the toads in the area when one of their number stumbled across and accidentally destroyed a nest of their eggs. I felt my paw touch my scimitar then. Evil, slimy spawn they have, and they themselves are not the best parents, so it surprised me to learn of this behaviour. Once the three were ready to walk again, I gathered a small group of moles I had with me. "All right. We don't have much time here, and I think the toads are coming back, but I have a plan...do you think you can find solid soil, in the direction away from Salamandastron?" "Hurr, aye, Marm." "Good. Find it, and dig the deepest hole you can under the soil. Don't break the surface! Then run back here and tell me." The moles set off, dug the hole, and returned running. The toads were coming. Already I could hear them shouting. Once they were in sight, I and my troops sent a swift volley of arrows and stones at them, I using my trusty Starpiercer. Their numbers were reduced by quite a bit, and they kept charging. Finally, they came to the hole. I almost wanted to laugh at the looks on their faces as they suddenly found the ground had given way beneath their feet! Those who didn't fall in ran away shouting about the end of the world. Instead, I shouldered my bow, and the troops moved out with me. It was days before the toads were even spotted above ground again. Mission Accomplished Mission #55 Completed by Bronto the Warrior The moment I was assigned this mission, I went about gathering my team members. I decided to bring two hares, a squirrel, and another badger. Before we left, Tammo told us, “The vermin are presently somewhere in the northern lands, heading south. Slay them before they reach Redwall.” I nodded as I swung my sword over my shoulder. “We’ll do our best, sah!” We left at dawn, traveling north at full speed. As we stopped for lunch, one of the hares saw a cloud of smoke in the trees. “Alright everyone, quiet now!” Silently, we tippawed our way toward the smoke. We found ourselves in a burned village. Using our tracking skills, we soon found the tracks of at least a two score of vermin. “Lets follow these. They’ll lead us right to ‘em.” said the squirrel. In late afternoon, we found the vermin. “Okay, spread out and hit them with slings and arrows.” We were soon hitting them and hard. They didn’t even know where the attack was coming from. Very shortly, there were few left. I put down my crossbow and whipped out my sword. I charged them shouting. “EEEEEUUUUULLLLIIIIIAAAAA!!” They didn’t stand a chance. Soon, we’re heading back to Salamandastron. Mission #35 Completed by Blackfur I went to go investigate the theif. As I was patrolling around the mountain searching for clues I noticed a little tunnel, weather weakened and then someone scratched it out it led to the storerooms when I investigated it further. So then I noticed little pawprint from the water so i followed them and then it led to a room with a locked door so i bashed the door in and what did i find? I saw a little hedgehog just a bit older than a dibbun so i asked him what he wanted and he said food to feed his brother's sister's and his mother because his mother was too old to go out and his siblings were too young and they lived on the beach so I gave him a haversack with provisions and sent him on his way. Then I patched up the hole and went to get lunch. Mission #41 Completed by Danno The great army I was told was traveling through Mossflower woods, so taking a small patrol of six hares and myself we set off. We set out at a speed pace and came into Mossflower from the east. Sending ahead my two runners they spotted sixty of the vermin horde traveling southwest on the trail. When they came back to report my team geared up and was ready. Silently surrounding them from all corners I sent out the charge. "Eulaliiiiaaaa!" it was answered with the same call from my group as they ran. The vermin apparently knew the call because their faces showed pure fear. Taking out some of the outer ones we soon dispatched about forty of them taking only minor injuries ourselves. The last twenty surrendered so we started to march them back towards Salamandastron. When we reached what had been our camp the group tried to get away all but three were taken out by sling bow or charging hares. The last three were questioned and said that their leader had died and that the all that was left of the horde were those three. Being as big as I am I held them with my fist and twitched my saber tip in front of them. "If your lying I will have your guts for garters, understand?" Three heads nodded in approval. I let them go and one kick at me. Slashing at his footpaw I said "Bad form sah!" and watched as he limped away with the other two. I sent two of my patrol to Redwall to make sure it was safe and continued on knowing the vermin were to dumb to lie. |
