Dear Parents
The end of the term is looming large! It has been a busy term and many of you have already spoken to the teachers about all the hard work your child has accomplished. Others of you will do so soon. I hope you have found these interview times helpful and informative. Winter seems to have really set in of late! However on crisp, pristine mornings, this part of God’s creation is impressive. The other morning, the sky was awash with an incredible sunrise that glistened on the snow-covered mountains. It was certainly picture postcard material! And with the Psalmist my heart sang out……. “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth.” Next term will be slightly different, as the swimming programme has had to be put on hold this year. With the re-development of Jellie Park Aquatic Centre and no spaces available at other pools, we are unable to offer this programme in 2007. Some of you will be relieved, others disappointed! It will be back on the timetable for 2008. I hope you all have a very refreshing holiday. To those travelling, I pray for journeying mercies. For those staying at home, I hope you get lots of sleep-ins and sunny days to enjoy with your children!
For me personally, this has been a tough term dealing with my ruptured Achilles, but I am well and truly on the mend and enjoying being able to walk without crutches! I thank many of you for your prayerful support and encouraging comments as you have seen me ‘hobbling’ around the school. A bit of R & R in the holidays should do wonders! See you all again in Term 3! Blessings. Heather Kench Head of Primary School

“All things reconciled: the Heart of Christian Education”
Christian education grows out of both discomfort and hope - discomfort with the divisions and distortions that have shaped our culture, and hope that in the Gospel of Christ there is a wholeness that can touch educational practice as it has touched our souls. All too often, we end up repeating in Christian dress that from which we are seeking deliverance. This presentation will explore, with concrete classroom examples, some ways in which Christian education often falls short, and some glimpses of what can be in classrooms animated by biblical vision. Dr David Smith (Director of Kuypers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning; Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic and Asian Languages, Calvin College, USA; outstanding Christian Writer (The Bible and the task of teaching), curriculum developer and inspiring speaker. This is an exciting opportunity to listen to a world class speaker. Dr Smith will also be available after the talk to answer any questions. Mark this date now!
