Dear Parents

Welcome back to Term 3. It is hard to believe that half of the school year is already over although there is still a lot to be accomplished!

After 17 years at this school as a classroom teacher, I am certainly getting a different perspective on life at M.G.S. in my new role.  Trying to get my head around all the administration systems in place here is taking time, but each day things are becoming clearer.  I have to say that I am missing the all day contact with the children, but I make time to go ‘wandering’ so I can still keep my finger on the pulse of classroom life. The joy of teaching for me has always been the relationships that I have been able to develop with the children in my care.  I don’t want to lose that, so I’m continuing to work with the Year 5 & 6 choir as well as trying to make time to talk with children before and after school and in the breaks.

There are big challenges that we are working through as a school, with the Network issues being uppermost   in most minds.  To this end, I would encourage you to attend the consultation meeting this Thursday evening, 27 July, in the School Hall.  Thank you to those who took the time to complete the questionnaire.  The percentage of returns from Primary parents was pleasing.  Now you need to find out where to from here, so plan to be there!

At our Staff meeting last week, I shared the thought from 1 Kings 3:9 where Solomon is confronted with making the decision of what to ask God to bestow on him.  He could have requested anything and it would have been granted …… great riches, a long life, total victory over his enemies.  But what was his reply?  “Here’s what I want:  Give me a God-listening heart.”  (The Message)  As I take on the responsibility at present, to lead and share with you in this place, that is what I fervently seek.

Thank you for the positive support I have already received from a number of you.  Keep praying for every person associated with this school, so that we can be a community that is purpose driven because God is at the centre of all we do.

God bless

The Garden

Flowers flowing with fruits, food for us to eat
Leaves looking longingly up at the lavender,
Orange tulips opening their buds,
Watered weeds weakening wonderful flowers
Eagerly extracting sunlight,
Ripe red roses ready to be picked,
Seeds slowly sprouting stalks!

 Flower  Poem

Flowers popping out of the ground.
Leaves falling off the trees.
Oxygen for us to breathe.
Weeds growing around the plants.
Everywhere flowers are seen.
Roots to help the plants grow.
Seeds sprouting out of the ground.

Flowers

      Flowers growing peacefully
            Long-necked sunflowers
               Oxygen provided for us
                   Wind making the flowers sway
                        Eating fruit so yummy
                           Roses growing in the garden
                               Seeds sprouting right up
