Dear Parents,
A brief UPDATE before the end of term. I must admit it was nice to write up the programme for next week on the Primary staff notice board - HOLIDAY! Staff and children have worked very hard this term and have achieved some great results, some of which I shared in the last Primary Update. In the Primary School we do suffer from ‘crowded curriculum’ - too much to teach and not enough time to teach it! However, the staff do a very good job at getting the balance right for children. It has been very pleasing for staff to be able to catch up with parents at the parent/teacher interviews held on Tuesday and Thursday last week and Wednesday this week. It’s a great chance to discuss your child’s needs and strengths and think to the future. This is one of three formal reporting times during the year, the others being initial interviews in March and a written report in December. However, you are welcome to discuss your child’s progress, etc. at any time during the year. You can also have a look at your child’s profile of work, at any time (with a couple of days warning for the teacher). In reporting to parents our aim is to be honest in our assessment, to be comprehensive, to act on the assessment information we have collected and to communicate this information effectively to parents. Through the assessment process the ultimate goal is to assist children in their learning as much as possible. Reporting is a two-way process. We do rely on parents to give information to assist us and also to approach the school if there is a concern. It all goes back to the home/school partnership. Your first approach to the school should most often be through the classroom teacher - they know your child best. Other avenues of approach, should an issue still not be dealt with, are through syndicate leaders [Years 0-2 Marion Gudsell (Rm 2), Years 3,4 Heather Kench (Rm 9), Years 5,6 Andrea Richardson (Rm C)] or through me … Head of Primary School. So keep those communication channels open! Thank you for your consistent support of the Primary School in so many ways … see you after the holidays! John Stackhouse, Head of Primary School PS No paving stories this time … but the path building does continue!
Parents of Year 6 Children To assist us in enrolments for 2005, please let me know if your Year 6 child is not returning to Middleton Grange next year (Year 7). We would appreciate this information in writing so we can confirm offers of place for 2005.
Last issue of the Primary Update we had a Room 9 pupil applying for a job as a clown! Well, here’s another one! What is going on in Room 9 … Mrs Kench please get your children back under control!
Middleton Grange School Christchurch 25 May 2004 Dear Mrs Kench I have always wanted to be a clown, so I am applying for the job. At the back of my wardrobe I have the perfect clown suit. I often practice just for fun. Also with my suit ,I have a bright red nose, make up, big shoes and red curly hair. I am very confident for it, I have been in many shows. Right at the back of my garage I have a unicycle. In my show there will be handstands and headstands, tricks, and I also have a huge magic set. From Danielle, Rm 9
