Class placements are determined using the following criteria:

Social considerations - how does a child relate to others
generally, and also specifically to certain children. Should they be put with other specific children or separated? Behaviourally, which teacher or combination of children would be best?

Academic considerations - does this child need extension or
remedial work? Are they with like-needs and like-abilities in the class? We do not want children to be isolated academically. We do not, however, stream classes.

Personality considerations - how will this child function personality-wise with her/his peers? Which teacher would be the best ‘personality fit’?

Learning style considerations - how does the learning style of this child fit the teaching style of the teacher?

We aim to provide quality teaching within a biblical context. We also aim to have a happy child because happy children learn better!

We rely on comprehensive information from class teachers and also
information/comments from parents. As teachers we see your child in the school context. Needs exhibited,
behaviour and abilities can be quite different in the school context
compared to home.

If you would like to make a comment about the placement of your child for 2003, please do so by 8 November. Please make your comments in writing to me.

We cannot guarantee to place your child in a specific class with a specific teacher because there are so many variables to consider. We do, however, always endeavour to place your child in the best learning context we can. Placements will be issued with reports on Friday 6 December.

A wonderful quote from Martin Luther King (Jr) ...

“Those who passively accept evil are as much involved in it as those who help to perpetuate it. Those who accept evil without protesting against it are
co-operating with it.”

This is a key concept to teach children about bullying. This is an issue we, as a staff, will address as a result of our Term 3 - Years 3-6 Bullying Survey. More about the survey and our findings soon.

BUS BEHAVIOUR …

A Reminder to Pupils and Parents
Travelling by bus to and from school is proving to be a very popular option. This is a reminder to both parents and pupils, of the high standard of behaviour we expect from all bus travellers.

Tickets should be bought at interval, they cannot be purchased after school.

Pupils are to be polite and courteous.

Primary pupils have seating priority.

No food or drink is to be consumed while on the bus.

Correct uniform is to be worn.

Bus ‘monitors’ and ‘drivers’ should be respected.

Travelling on the bus without a ticket/bus pass could result in a detention.

It is a privilege to travel to and from school by bus. This privilege will be removed from any pupils who are unable to behave in an acceptable manner.
