A school is as strong as its community

Dear Parents,

My apologies for there being so long between this issue of Primary Update and the last one!

How deceived we can be!  Just a matter of a couple of weeks ago I was enjoying the fact that the winter had not seemed very long and in fact was quite mild.  Never mind.

Lots of things have been going on in the Primary School lately.  Our Teacher Only Day two weeks ago was excellent.  We did a lot of work on the Arts curriculum development for the Primary School.  We also looked at teaching and planning Christianly.  It was a great chance for the Primary School staff to work together for a concerted period of time.  The Ministry of Education curriculum advisors have been very good people to work with - no, we have to take what we have learnt from there and sift it through our strong Christian perspective.

Someone has left us … and someone has joined us!

As you may well be aware, Mrs Elizabeth Langford has suffered a health setback and has had to resign her long-term relieving position in Room B.  We are very sorry to see Mrs Langford leave us but we will invite her back to say a proper farewell soon.  Our thanks to Mrs Langford for the wonderful work she did in Room B.  Our thanks also to Mrs Brown who has stepped in to teach the remainder of the term before Mr Brent Langford takes up his permanent teaching position in Room B next term.

Getting involved in your school

We are very blessed at Middleton Grange with the number of parents who have got involved and active in the school.  As I have mentioned before, we have parents doing a vast range of things around the Primary School.  I would especially like to say thank you to these volunteers who turn up regularly to help in various ways … Mrs Gayle Crocker, Mrs Claire Bosma, Mrs Sharon Bensberg.  These people have put in many hours of voluntary work!

The new Primary School classroom block … progress report

The opening day for the new classroom block has been set:  this is scheduled to take place Tuesday 16 November at 2.15pm.

The classrooms are now completely closed in and the painters have done a lot of work too.  Cupboards, benches, doors, etc. are also in place.  It’s great to see the progress made.  We really do look forward to their being opened next term.

John Stackhouse, Head of Primary School

Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall but those who hope in the Lord will renew strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint.    Isaiah 40:30,31

EAGLES

1.      I think it means that when you pray and God says maybe you need to wait and see what happens.  And this is another theory when you pray wait for an answer.

2.       I think God is like an eagle because when we were born we feel comfortable about what we have.  But to follow Him we need to learn what to do so we start flying in the right direction but then we do something wrong and we fall, but God forgives us and lifts us up to the right path again.
