What Magick Is


And Where it REALLY comes from


One of the most frequently asked questions I get from people is "If you're a Witch why don't you cast a spell on me?" Well, quite frankly I don't feel like wasting the energy. This usually solicits some sort of "yeah, right" look. No, really. Casting a spell is HARD work if you want it to work right. Besides, there is NO SUCH THING as instant gratification in the Craft. Why waste precious energy on some closed-minded person who isn't going to get the instant results they wanted and even if you were lucky enough to acheive instant results for them, they would write it off to coincidence?
Annother question I get is "What is Magick anyway?" Well, that's a very good question. I have heared it described as "Prayer With Props" and that's basically it, however (there's always a however with us, isn't there?), Rather than dropping to our knees, going "Bless so ans so and bless so and so and oh, yeah help me get that job" and going to bed, there's alot of work involved. I know there's alot more to straight prayer than the simple words I have provided, there has to be faith in deity. Well, We have to have faith in deity, ourselves, our ablility and the work we want to do. OK, so what IS magick, anyway? It's the ability to control the forces within yourself to the point where you can have a hand in the forces around you.
Now that you know what it is, what can you do with it? Alot of stuff. I personally have used it to help someone get a loan, to help draw love (ok, I KNOW I'll hear it for that one but I did not manipulate any one person, or ask for any specific person.), help a friend get over a manipulating, demeaning, cheating man, change traffic lights, get my car un-stuck from the snow, and to help my plants grow.
Well, what is Magick NOT? It's not a way of manipulating people, it's not a way of hurting people, nor is it a method of revenge. While you CAN do all of this, it's concidered not nice and quite unethical. However (ther's that word again!), It is concidered perfectly alright to defend yourself, if you are REALLY in danger, not from a psychopathic gunaman or anything, but if someone is messng with you psychologically or are stupid enough to use thier magickal ability to hurt you, you are entitled to self-defence. I have done this many times.
OK, so where does it come from anyway? The ability to do magick comed first from within the Witch themself, it also comes from the Lord and Lady, the Earth and ALL natural objects (rocks, trees, kitties, etc.). There is no magick in your computer, your carpet or the plaster of your walls. Now, there IS macgick in stones and such, but it will only work for the witch if it is made by them to work for them or specially made by annother witch for them.
