BARONY
- Company: Better Games (USA)
- Authors: ???
- First publication: 1993
- Genre: Oriental fantasy
- Theme:
For thousands of years, even before the first overlord united the
barbarians of the West, the Eastern dynasties thrived. Though even
to this day they still battle the winter incursions of ice ogres
from the north, the never ending construction of great walls that
crisscross their kingdoms lessens the impact of these attacks.
Wealthy beyond measure yet imprisoned by an inflexible social order,
the eastern realms greet the newly arriving western trade explorers
with courtesy and extreme caution. There is much to lose should their
advanced technology and sophisticated ritual magic be unwisely bartered
or worse stolen and exploited by these visiting barbarians. Yet they can
not turn away these foreigners, because of an ancient legend that
suggests one of the woolly bearded travelers is destined to serve
and proclaim the Great Khartoum who will rule a united world.
The players will take the roles of samurai lords, mystic scholars
and ninja warriors trying to protect their lands from domestic
rivals, powerful magical orgres and of course adventuring western
freebooters.
Not so much a quest oriented game, but instead emphasizing players
involved in court intrigue and magical mysteries, setting policy,
negociating with diplomats and quelling personal ambition.

- Authors: ???
- First publication: 1994
- Genre: Weird Pulp/ Horror in the 1920's
- Theme:
Welcome to the world of Fantasy Noir.
It's a mean old world out there. The sorcerer upstairs conjures too loud;
the guy down the hall drinks blood from a six-pack; that stiff you left in
the alley is up and walking around. If you're lucky, the Guild will pay you
for tonight's work; if you're not, you're going home in a box.
A small box.
The World of Bloodshadows is a roleplaying game setting that combines pulp
adventure with dark fantasy. Tough detectives in weathered trench-coats
swap biting comments with vampires in evening gowns. Humans walk down dark
streets side by side with demonic breeds and long-dead ghouls. And death -
or Undeath - waits around every corner...
Go outside the cities and discover the terrors of the Wilderness. Even the
most powerful shapeshifter or sorcerer fears what waits in the ruins...
Your weapons on the world of Marl are magic and technology - but neither
replaces a good head on your shoulders.
And you'll have to work to keep it there.
