Jonas Branhult / Sweden :
Hello Makiko!
I lived in Yokohama for 3 months while working as a tennis
coach. I ate a lot of great and healthy food but unfortunately
I have not one single recipe to get started with the
japanese/chinese cooking.
I have just purchased a wok and a deep fryer which I would like
to use in our cooking.
Do you have any recommendations concerning good meals for a
beginner as myself?
Thanks for sharing your experiences/expertese on the net.
There is no way I would have heard of you otherwise.
Sincerely
Jonas
I love to cook with a wok myself. Wok is good not only for
asian cookin but western cooking because it stir-fries,
deep-fries, braises, steams........
I added a recipe for
Fried Rice and hope you'll like it.

Denise / USA :
I was recently in London and ate at a restaurant that
they called a noodle bar. I had a simple dish the name
was chicken with mushrooms and rice.
The dish was very tasty and I went back several times.
One time it had a very small amount of peas in it
(which I could do without). I was wonderering if you
knew how to make this? thank you
Hi Denise! Do you remember what flaver the dish had?
There are a lot of dishes containing chicken and mushrooms
served with rice. Please mail me again if you could.

I'm looking for a recipe for mizo soup.
Any help would beappreciated. Thanks
Some Japanese guys still ask their girlfriends,
"Will you make me miso soup?" in other words,
"Will you marry me?"...
and Japanese women think that is so corny...
Anyway, miso soup is THAT important breakfast item
for Japanese people and some people say it "prevents"
cancer...SO, you gotta have
THIS.

Paulo Fraga / Brasil :
Hi!I would like to know how to make a sauce called here in
Brasil as acridoce sauce.
It is the tradicional red sauce from China. A little sweet, a
little acid. You know? If you don't mind, I'll be very
happy! Thanks a lot
Fraga
Hello! Was that dipping sauce for eggrolls?
if it was, method 3 in
Sweet and Sour Meatballs
will help you.

I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAD A RECIPE FOR
JAPANESE PICKLED CABBAGE (OSHINKO) I LOVE
IT...ANY KIND OF RECIPE WHOULD BE APPREICATED
THANK YOU... MICHAEL
This is the hard one...because not very many people
make oshinko anymore.
It is very time consuming and contains a lot of
hard-to-find ingredients (such as dried kelp and YUZU
citrus fruit).
However, I do have an
easy version of Oshinko
you might want to try. This one can be made within
a day.

Dave / US:
I have been asking and or looking for the recipe for
Japanese Golden Shrimp.
These shrimp are butterfried and have an almost egg-
yolk type of sauce put on
them, prior to simmering under a lid with some sort of
wine sprinkled on them.
We frequent many Japanese restaurants that offer this
appetizer, but none of
them will give me the recipe for this dish. Please
help!!!
I'm not really sure what it was but
closest thing I can think is broiled one...
The recipe I have uses scallop but it has
golden sauce. So I changed some ingredients and
named it
"Golden Shrimp".
I hope this will help.

Michiko Kita / Holland:
Hello, makikosan. I found your homepage today while I
was looking Internet.
My mom realy likes cooking and she asked me
to write you a letter. I want to you to give me a
recipe of a Korean foods. I looked around a lots of
home pages but didn't found them. (Well, I found them
but didn't think so good -.-) Will you?! Please!
I will wait for the answer that you will send to me
soon. I will be waiting!
Konnichiwa! Before I visited Korea several years ago,
I thought Korean people live with Korean BBQ and kimchee.
And I was wrong!! I was so fascinated by their food
especially Sam-Gae-Tang(whole chicken stuffed with rice,
ginseng and other stuff / cooked in soup) and
Pibimbap
(rice topped with beef and vegetables).
My husband suffered when I asked him to carry
4 of the medium size stone pots home.
(I thought I gotta have these for Pibimbap!)
They were very heavy and we had a long way to go...!

I would like to get a recipe for Miso Soup. My wife and
I had dinner at a Japanese restaurant recently, and
we both thought that the miso soup was wonderful.
If you can help, we sould really appreciate it.
Thank you.
Hi james!
Miso Soup is very good for your health
and still tasty. However, try not to put too much miso
paste in your soup because it contains a lot of sodium.

JoAnn/ Hawaii, US
I've been looking for a recipe for: hiyashi ramen
and niku-don ( I don't think I saw a recipe listed on
on your page). I've been looking for a yakisoba recipe,
too. I've tried several, but the flavor isn't the same
as the yakisoba I ate in Japan. I hope you can help me.
I really enjoyed your page!!!!! Thanks!! Aloha!
Hello JoAnn! I added recipes for
Hiyashi(cold) Ramen and
Tondon(Pork on Rice) and Yakisoba(Japanese Chow Mein)
You may be able to purchace yakisoba noodles with sauce
mix (NOT deep-fried instant type) in the refrigerator
section at a Japanese grocery store for your convenience
since you are in Hawaii. You might find them in American
supermarkets, too. I found "Maruchan Yakisoba" at
Ralph's and Lucky in California.
From my Japanese Page;
Fumi-chan from Aichi, Japan is looking for a recipe for
"Cold Pumpkin Soup". If you have one, please send it
HERE.
Miho from California sent me a
Chai recipe.
Thank you, Miho!
