Thomas Fulton decided to migrate to Port Phillip in partnership with Robert Langlands, brother of George and Henry, and arrived at Melbourne with his family in February 1842.
Thomas Fulton 10 September 1813 - 18 February 1859 was baptised at Dundee, Scotland, son of Thomas Fulton (d.1866), wrought-iron worker, and his wife Isabella, née Wheelwright, at Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland and died Bendigo, Victoria, Australia when he fell down a mine-shaft.
Thomas Fulton was in partnership 1845-55 with Robert Smith and George Annand. They erected a steam engine for the first mill in Melbourne and turned rack woolpresses for squatters, went on to invent other machinery. He was a Congregationalist lay leader, Port Phillip district (Victoria), Australia, also farming machinery manufacturer.
He was survived by his wife Elizabeth, née Black, and seven of eight children.
