This Indenture made and entered into this 20th day of June 1843 between Samuel B Field and Nancy his wife of the County of Adair and State of Kentucky of the one part and John Bratcher of the County and State aforesaid of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said Samuel B Field and Nancy his wife for and  in consideration of the sum of One hundred and forty dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold unto the said John Bratcher a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of Rock Red Lick of Harrods fork of Crocus and bounded as follows (To wit) Beginning at a white walnut Black Walnut and elm corner to Charles Vigri's survey, thence with his line S 76 1/2 W 62 poles to a dogwood and poplar in said line thence S 3 1/2 W 17 poles to two dogwoods in Clayton Millers line, thence with his line N 80 E 14 poles to a beech, black oak and hickory said Millers corner, thence nearly with his line S 6 E 44 1/2 poles to a gum dogwood and poplar supposed to be a corner to a survey made in the name of Robert Harvey, thence with a line of said Survey S 10 E 80 poles to a poplar and white oak thence N 67 E 30 poles to a hickory and dead Oak thence N 24 E 80 poles to a black gum and maple, thence N 28 W 73 poles to the beginning containing fifty four acres be the same more or lefs together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining.  to have and to hold unto the said John Bratcher his heirs and assigns forever and the said Field & wife doth Covenant and agree to and with the said Bratcher that they will warrant and forever defend said land from and against the claim or claims of all and every person or person claiming by through or under them in any way whatever  to him (the said Bratcher) an his heirs forever

I William Caldwell clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid do hereby certify that this day this deed from Samuel B Field and Nancy his wife to John Bratcher was produced to me in my office and acknowledged by said Field to be his act and deed and the said Nancy being examined by me separate and apart from her said husband declared that she did freely and willingly seal an deliver the said writing and wished not to retract & acknowledged the same again shown & explained unto her to be her act and deed and consented that the same may be recorded
Whereupon I have recorded said deed together with this certificate in my office  Witness my hand this 24th day of June 1843
