This Indenture
made & entered into this 17 th day of March 1853 between
Simeon Bratcher and Manijah J Bratcher his wife of Garrard County Kentucky of the one
Part and Henry Cook of the County of Adair in the State afs d
of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Bratcher & wife for and in consideration of the sum of
One hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid the Receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold
and by these presents doth hereby grant bargain Sell and Convey Unto the
said Cook his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying
& being in the County of Adair on the waters of Rock Lick of Harrods fork of Crocus and
Bounded as follows (To wit) Beginning
at a white walnut Black Walnut and elm corner to Charles Vigris Survey Thence with his line S 76 1/2 W 62 poles to a dogwood
& poplar in Said
line thence S 3 1/2 W 17 poles to two dogwoods in Clayton Millers line
thence with his line N 80 E 14 poles to a Beech Black Oak and hickory
said Millers Corner Thence nearly with his line S 6 E 44 1/2 poles to a
gum dogwood and poplar supposed to be a corner to a Survey made in the
name of Robert Harvey Thence with a line of said Survey S 10 E 80 poles
to a poplar & white oak Thence N 67 E 30 Poles to a hickory and dead
oak Thence N 24 E 80 poles to a Black gum and maple Thence N 28 W 73
poles to the beginning containing 54 acres be the Same more or less To have and
to the premises hereby conveyed to the Said Cook his heirs and the Said
Bratcher & wife for themselves covenant & agree to warrant the
premises hereby Conveyed against any and all claims whatever In testimony where of the said

I W B Mason Clerk of the county Court for the County aforesaid do
hereby certify that this day this deed from Simeon Bratcher & his wife
Manijah Jane Bratcher to Henry Cook was produced to me by the Said
Grantor and acknowledged by the Said Simeon Bratcher to be his act and deed and the
said Mary Jane Bratcher being examined by me privily
and apart from her husband declared that she did freely and willingly
seal an deliver the said writing & wishes not to retract it and acknowledged the
said writing same again Shown and explained unto her to be her act & deed and consented that the same may be recorded
Whereupon the said deed is certified to the Clerk of the Adair County
Court for record given my hand this 17 th day of March
