MARCH 2005

TUESDAY MARCH 1ST , 2005

ok we have even MORE snow today, this is way too much, I can’t get out of our driveway so I don’t go in.

I continue on my spring cleaning binge. There is so much that needs to be done to the house, the windows need replacing, it needs painting, the kitchen tile needs replacing, and there is way to much STUFF in this house.

The tax refund was a good one this year and we’ll be using it on the house.

I have cleaned the Kitchen, and the living room and the dining room – next stop my closet and bureau’s.

FRIDAY MARCH 4TH , 2005

Keith gets a phone call from Dylan’s teacher. It seems that when we were on vacation, Dylan went on one too. He hasn’t done, any homework, nor does he do his class work, he sits and day dreams.

Keith asks her to get all the missed or incomplete work together and we will get it done. This doesn’t go over well with Dylan. Since now he has been found out, he has a huge pile of papers in his desk, in various states of unfinished.

We get this all taken care of, and Keith wants the homework left on the kitchen table to be checked by him in the morning to make sure it’s done. So I back out of the homework stuff.

Note: I stumble on an ad for Laminate Wood Flooring for $1.25 per sq. ft. and head out to get it right after work. I get 13 boxes and 3 rolls of underlayment in my Mazda3 (and it’s NOT a hatchback) The price for our new floor, $448.59 Awesome.

SATURDAY MARCH 12TH , 2005

Ahh we have yet another snow storm, this one dumps another 6 inches on us. It doesn’t bother us tho, we have a guy coming to give us an estimate on new windows for the house and then we are going to start putting in the new wood floor in the kitchen/dining area.

Mom gets home and the boys are both still in PJ’s, not a problem, I hadn’t planned on going anywhere.

We install the new dining area light and work on Mom’s design for nightstands, and matching headboard.

We get the window estimate 4-6:30 and set up a date, and there is no more time left. so we call it a night. Gramma B has arrived, she was headed to the north shore when the roads got worse than she wanted to handle and then didn’t feel safe to drive from where she was back to RI, so I told her to come and stay with us.

SUNDAY MARCH 13TH , 2005

1st thing was a new foyer lamp – with a really short ladder, but my awesome husband gets it done.

The new floor goes in; the whole family is at it. Ian and Dad pull up the linoleum, I cut it up and Gramma B, bags it for the trash, Dylan is running around with the shop vac. We have the whole kitchen stripped in 20 minutes.

On to the flooring – we start empting the room at 10:30 and have it mostly back together by 7:00. it looks fabulous.

Not a bad days work

TUESDAY MARCH 15TH , 2005

I get a call from Keith telling me “thanks a lot” I ‘m wondering what I did now??? seems that Ma loved the flooring so much, she bought some for her house and Keith gets elected to put it in. Ok, when do WE go do it?? I got you into it. I’ll help.  LOLOLOL

FRIDAY MARCH 18TH , 2005

Keith gets ANOTHER phone call from Dylan’s teacher; it seems that she has been writing in Dylan’s Homework book (otherwise known as BEST BOOK) that he is again at the not doing class work and not doing his homework.

Keith calls me at work to let me know this, now I am livid. I asked him to his face last night if his homework was done. yep he tells me and come to find out, he hadn’t even brought it home.

I split work early and head to his school. SURPRISE DYLAN – YOUR BUSTED!! His teacher and I spend at least ½ hour going thru the kids backpack, it is stuffed full of papers he didn’t want anyone to see. and the BEST BOOK is forgotten when there is a note in it, that he thinks he’ll hide from the receiving adult.

He has a HUGE pile of stuff to finish, and it seems as if he has been taking Pokemon stuffies to school (with my approval – on the condition that he puts them away when he is supposed to) and when he is told to put them away in his backpack, he puts them in his desk. NOT Happening kiddo.

I take the pile of work and the toys home with me. When I get there I then head to his room and collect the GameBoys, the video game guide books and the games and controllers for his PS2. no TV either for 1 month, since he had been on punishment for 2 weeks and within 1 day he is back at it.

When he arrives home, I tell him to sit at the table and get started, he has a lot to do, he makes a fairly good dent in it, as I am getting ready for bed, I tell him to do 2 more papers and he can call it a night.

A few minutes later I hear him in his room, ”What are you doing?” “Coloring” is the response. “Did you do those 2 more papers for me?”  “Yep.” “Good, Go get them” he takes of for the kitchen and then doesn’t come right back, after a few more minutes I get up to fin him searching his pile of papers for something he can pass off as done. He has LIED to me again.

Mom just doesn’t get it?? Why lie over something so stupid????? I send him to bed, no playing, no waiting up for Dad, no nothing!!

SUNDAY MARCH 20TH , 2005

We head to Ma’s and Keith attempts to repair her broken bed frame, while I install the CD Burner that I bought her to keep all her digital pictures safe from Hard Drive crashes.

Also Keith and Ma go to the store and pick up her wood floor and bring it home.

Then we all head off to brother Lance’s house for dinner. They are living in Michelle’s parent’s cottage by the lake, nice place, but the road getting there is the pits. I is dirt and full of LARGE ruts.

We have a nice visit, dinner and watch the Atlanta race, then head home to get the boys in the tub and to bed for the school week ahead.

SATURDAY MARCH 26TH , 2005

Keith and the boys head to Gramma B’s, this is flooring weekend. Ma already has the carpet up and a lot of the baseboards pulled off (she is having 85% of the interior painted too) so they set right to work.

Keith and the rest put in a 12 hour day and have made a big dent in what needs to be done.

I am at work an have a quiet evening at home alone. Can’t leave the dog overnight so I plan to head down in the AM

SUNDAY MARCH 27TH , 2005

EASTER    SUNDAY

I arrive to find the house in chaos, but the bedroom is done, the hallway and the dining area, all that is left is the living room. They have been busy.

We get things finished up around 5:30 – 6:00 and I grab the boys and head for home, Ian is looking exhausted He has been fighting a cold for a week now and it just doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Both kids sleep on the way home, and are quick into the shower and ready for bed. I let them wait for Dad to get home before they have to do lights out. He rolls in around 9:30 he is exhausted too.

MONDAY MARCH 28TH , 2005

Today is another follow up visit to DR S. in Boston. Mom was naughty last month, with all that was going on with the vacation and all; I never got Ian a set of labs in the middle. L

Dad goes with us this trip, he was supposed to have Jury Duty, but didn’t have to go.

The appointment is at 2:00 and the weather is awful. The rain is torrential, but at least it isn’t snow.

Dr S is pleased with Ian’s appearance and can find no weaknesses (not evening his neck) we discuss the lowering of any medications???? Ian listens with baited breath. if the labs all come back normal, we may go down again on the cyclosporine, but he is not sure if the drop will be to .40 cc’s or .30 cc’s

That news makes Ian’s day, since I have been threatening him with a switch over to the shot form. Since he has had so much trouble keeping it down. He gets himself all worked up, because he doesn’t WANT to take it. Then the brain takes over and makes him puke it up after he takes it.

I’ve been asking if he wants to get sick again… the answer is of course NO, but I remind him that this medicine is what is getting him well and it needs to go in and STAY in.

Dr S. then asks if we are interested in helping with a study they are doing on Dermatomyositis. I agree since they have taken such good care of Ian. I feel we should help others avoid what we went thru if we can. (I was the same way during pregnancy – they had all kinds of interns etc in with me – and we did the same while Ian was here in Oct 03)

Ian agreed also (I wouldn’t have forced him by any means) Dr S said there would be NO ADDITIONAL Dr visits, nor would there be additional blood draws. They would on NORMAL labs, merely draw an additional amount to be used in the study. That cinches it for Ian. He says if they can learn something and get him better faster or help someone else NOT get it at all, he’s all for it. What a great kid.

The Bonus of doing the study is that his original Dr. is the one running the study and we haven’t seen her in ages. When she arrives, she is amazed at the change in Ian. he has grown 2 inches since she last saw him and grown his hair longer.

She runs thru the tests, even tho he can ace them, she remembers what he was like when she 1st saw him.

We didn’t have time to get lunch prior to the appointment, so we head to the Galleria and have supper.

We head for home at 6:00 and don’t arrive until 7:15, the rain and the traffic were awful. Keith calls his Dad. (he was supposed to call last night, but got home to late) Dad has been busily trying to find Keith a job in the area. At 1st try a few weeks ago, it was 2 places. Now he has 4 more to add to the list. Things are looking up.

TUESDAY MARCH 29TH , 2005

The folks from Amvets are to come today to pick up 1 of what I am sure will be several loads of donations, since I am cleaning any area in the house I can get my hands on. It needs to be done. But if we are relocating, I don’t want to waste time moving junk we no longer need, use or want.

Around 10:00 I get a call from the realtor in Florida, one of the lots we were interested has been released. Are we still interested? YES!!! YES YES !!!He will Fed Ex the stuff to me AND a return Fed Ex envelope and we can get things started.

Well the day went for bad to worse. The folks from Amvets were a no show, so I still have a room full of junk. And may have it til mid April. Humph!

Next a friend calls and has news about our camping spots for the NASCAR races in New Hampshire. It seems as if we are not ALLOWED to use 2 spots for our very large trailers even if we PAY for 2. Their rule is 1 space per camper/RV. (this is a new clause on the paperwork.. it is NOT on mine) never mind the fact that their spaces are only 16 ft wide, and if I open my slide, my trailer is 11 ft wide, add 2 ft for the stairs and 6 more for the awning and you get 19 ft wide and then where do we put the truck??????

I guess it is all about the money, tho it would seem that as long as they get their money, they shouldn’t care how much room you get. their spots are WAY to small and if this is how they want to be, fine… when the tickets come up for renewal they can sell them to someone else. They have gone from FREE camping to $125.00 a spot and now 1 spot is all you get.

At other tracks the sites are much larger (at least 20ft wide) and if you want 2 fine, as long as you pay for it, and they are only $50.00 a spot.

Maybe the sales will drop enough and they lose a race date next year. And then they can see how much money they make.

Next the window guy calls and tells me, the person that said the windows would be installed on the 30th and 31st, shouldn’t have told me that and we aren’t even on the schedule yet. Now I am REALLY not in a good mood. I am about ready to tell him to keep his windows, after all the problems with the color selection, and now this.

THURSDAY MARCH 31ST , 2005

Tonight is the night that Ian and Dad sleep over at the Museum of Science in Boston. It is a field trip thru the middle school. Dad has volunteered to be a chaperone.

I arrive home at 2:40 just before Ian, and for a switch Keith is home. He is looking over the paperwork from the house in Florida. 1st he tells me, we should be able to have the elevator we want because the 2 houses will be different enough if 1 has the bonus room (ours) and the one next door doesn’t. So he is ready to move. Then it’s we can’t do anything till the kids are out of school, (June) then only one of us will be down there, because the house will be done around June (no I was told 8-10 months that means Dec to Feb) He’s NOT ready to move.

I tell him I will look over the paperwork while they are at the museum.

They are supposed to be at the school at 5PM to get on the bus to head in.

There stuff is all packed in trash bags and Dylan and I take them up to the school and then head home, for a quiet night just the 2 of us.
