SECOND FLOOR
The second floor of the place was no less impressive. Two small couches faced each other over a sand colored coffee table with vine worked legs. Tall glass displays stood about the room. Each had glass shelves that held curious trinkets. The items seemed to be organized by region. Little cards placed in front of grouped pieces indicated 'Southeastern Europe' or 'Hungary' or 'Pictland, Brittania.'
"We won't be needing a focus." Theodora steered him away from the cabinets. We have the medallion. Zorikh held up the Van Halen pendant.
"You mean this thing?"
"Yes. Please let me have it." She said. Zorikh place the medallion in her hand. In turn, she removed her T-shaped necklace and gave it to him. "Keep it in your hand. Wait for a few seconds after I leave, then focus your mind on me. My Thor's Hammer will track me." She nodded towards the silver pendant in his palm."
"I thought it was a Thor's Hammer." Zorikh examined it, turning it over. There was a hollow pop, and Theodora was gone. Zorikh sighed. He pulled the Sadja from his jacket pocket and tightened his grip on Theodora's pendant. He gave a premature shiver for the thunder that would greet him at his jump to the Rift. "I really should get earplugs." Then he closed the Sadja over his wrist and was gone.
Theodora was mutely staring at the smooth snowy slope when Zorikh appeared. "You see?" she told him as he came to stand beside her. "We would've been too late. His prints are gone. Good fortune that you had taken his property."
"Where are we going?" Zorikh said, listening to his own voice. The total absence of echo in the place still made him feel miniscule.
"I really don't know." Theodora's voice was almost a whisper. "I really hate a blind jump. Remember, the same goes for the way out." She pointed at his hand, still clutching the silver Thor's Hammer. Focus on me." She vanished as she removed her bracelet. Zorikh gripped her pendant, pictured her in his mind, and did the same.
