This site has been started to support the views of South Cardon Mine website. It does not claim to be a definitive source of information on mine  terms but aims to explain some of the terms used in the South Caradon site for those new to mine history.  

The list of words  explained is therefore by no means complete, but it is growing as the content and research on the Views site expands. Likewise the illustrations are mainly from the remains of South and East Caradon mines. Future expansion may include developing the site in its own right and introducing examples from mines all around Cornwall and Dartmoor.
