Malachite | A copper ore Cu2CO3(OH)2,
a copper carbonate mineral.
It is also used as an ornamental stone and is related to Azurite. Malachite is a beautiful green and is formed in layers varying in colour from apple green to dark grey-green.

Man Engine | A device used to raise and
lower men down a mine.
A man engine consists of a rod or pair of rods moving rhythmically up and down with steps attached .Steps on the shaft wall enable men to step on and off, raising about 12ft at a time.Normally worked by beam or horizontal engine in an arrangement similar to a Pump engine. First introduced to Cornwall in 1842. |
