38 Weeks LMP (37 Weeks Gestational)     October 15 - October 21
Baby Length: Average is 17 inches; Thomas is much bigger than that
Baby Weight: Average is 6 pounds; Thomas is much heavier than that
Mother's Weight:  Finally leveled off

This week was a busy one for us, probably a little too busy for me.  I spent much of the week trying to get some experiments done in preparation for my committee meeting next week, but in vain, since an essential reagent I need has been backordered.  I've pretty much decided not to ask for permission to write, as was previously planned, since I don't feel like I have enough done.  We'll see what my committee says on the 23rd.

Tuesday, Joe and I had our weekly appointment at the OB.  Dr. Cook had a family emergency and wasn't there, but Brandi examined me and, try as she might, she said she just couldn't say that anything was progressing.  Thomas is still in a great position, and his heartbeat is good and healthy.  He's just not ready to come out yet, apparently.

It's the Guper Guppy! With the capacity to hold space shuttle parts. (we're talking about the plane, not my belly)Saturday, a small crowd of us went to the Wings Over Houston airshow.  It was quite exciting, although I admit it was an awfully long day for me.  Zac, Tara, and her husband Lorin rode with us and it was quite fun to have someone at least as excited and goofy about the planes as I am.  Lorin was like a little kid, crawling up and sitting in all the vehicles he could.  Zac was surprisingly knowledgeable about the planes, which was very handy.  I regret that I was too non-mobile and distracted to really get into it as much as I usually do.  But hanging out with Lorin and Tara and Zac was fun.

Thomas didn't seem to care one way or another for the airplanes or the "sound of freedom".  He was quiet all day, as he usually is when I'm active.  He has really been calming down lately, except for his hiccups.  Hopefully that's a sign that he's getting ready to relocate.

We met up with Geoff and Nick for lunch at Pe-Te's, which is a tradition around Ellington field.  It's truly a hole in the wall that serves up real cajun food in a blueplate style.  The place is covered with paraphernalia from Louisiana as well as from NASA, as it has been popular among the astronauts (apparently it's in the movie Right Stuff, I think).  The food isn't as good as my mother's or grandmother's, but it's still quite good.  They do have a really good roux, which makes all the difference in the world.

After the airshow, we had everyone at our apartment, where Joe cooked up some great enchiladas, which seemed to be a hit.  By the time everyone had headed out, though, I was exhausted and very grateful to Joe for cleaning up everything afterwards.  And I was sunburned, despite applying sunscreen twice and having worn a hat.

The weather has been so wonderful lately, I do regret that we aren't going to the Renaissance Fair this year, but with everything going on and how tired I get and how expensive the Fair is, we thought it best that we pass.  I hate skipping something we otherwise have never missed, however.
