Yes, that is a Buzz Lightyear hat I'm wearing. This week I was in Orlando, Florida, at a conference, FASEB.  A friend of mine, Kathy, who was previously a postdoc at M.D. Anderson was also attending as a recruiter for the FDA.  It was fun to see her again, and we roomed together in a really nice Hampton Inn.  She brought the baby a t-shirt with "Future President" on it.  Very adorable and patriotic at the same time! Baby's first piece of clothing!

My morning sickness has been more of a "hungry sickness".  Anytime I let my stomach get empty, I would get terribly nauseaous.  I had managed never to throw up, however.  Thankfully the hotel not only had a fridge in the room, but a free breakfast buffet.  So every morning, Kathy and I would go downstairs, eat, and bring all the healthy food we could carry back up to the room with us, as well as several glasses of juice and milk.

I got quite a nice surprise on Monday, as well.  Kathy, who was with me in San Fransicso last year for the AACR conference, has always been impressed with the loot I get from the vendors' exhibits.  This year I got a number of neato items, like a keychain laser pointer and some "beevine" serum.  But the best of all was when I actually won tickets to Disney World!  Kathy and I had been talking about going to a theme park, but I was reluctant to spend the money. I guess fate had other plans!   I sure don't know where that good kharma came from, but I was quite pleased!

Tuesday afternoon I went to the outlet mall and shopped the Carter's outlet.  My hormones were certainly in high gear, since just walking around the store had me misty-eyed with anticipation.  I picked up a set of wrist and foot rattles with zoo animals on them, as well as a rolypoly hippo that has chimes inside.  It was all I could do to not openly cry as I paid for them.  The baby's first toys!

Wednesday, Kathy and I went to Disney World.  We decided to go to the Magic Kingdom, and were quite excited as this was the baby's first trip to The Happiest Place On Earth (which I am quite inclined to believe, despite what the cynics may say). It was hot, crowded, and the line reservation system wasn't all that efficient, but we had a blast. How could you not with free tickets?? I suppose now Joe and I will have to wait until the baby is older before we can go back.  Boy, I love that place!

Thursday, the two of us got up early as we were both leaving that day.  Then I made of the other worst mistakes a pregnant woman could make:  drinking a whole glass of water on an empty stomach early in the morning.  I could barely tell Kathy to go have breakfast without me before all that water came right back up.  THAT is why you keep crackers next to your bed to munch on in the morning.  The good news is that I immediately felt better and was able to go and eat a surprisingly big breakfast.  And that this was the only time I have succumbed to the pregnancy nausea.
