Wordmaster
Before the meeting
- Choose a word for the day, preferably a word that would help build member's vocabularies. Write the word in large letters on a card.
- Post the card containing the word of the day on the board at the front of the meeting room before the meeting begins.
During the meeting
- When called on by the Toastmaster, rise and explain the Word-master's function. Explain the word of the day, including correct pronunciation and an example of the word in a sentence. Explain that each use of the word of the day during the meeting will offset an "ah" on the "Ah" counter's list.
- Listen carefully to all speeches, reports, comments, and other uses of spoken language. Keep track of correct usage of the word of the day.
- When called on by the Toastmaster, rise and give a brief report on the use of the word of the day by members.
