Subject: Daniel Ross
I am the great great grandson of Daniel Ross who was married to Eliza Ross in S.A about 1850. The information here is the recollections of my grandfathers brother John C. (Jack) Ross (1899 - Still Going in Ballarat) in 1970.
Daniel Ross (d. about 1860) was christened Rossshire on one the Duke of Sutherlands estates. Arrived on the Grindlay (via The India) in 1841. No known relatives or D.o.B. The samre applies to Eliza Ross (Moore)
They had 4 Children William (1851), Robert (1953), Mary Ann (Molly 1958) & John C ( Chang 1859).
Eliza Moore was christened in County Tyrone Ireland no dates. Died in about 1910 probably in W,A.

Hugh and Henry Rourke brothers from ireland, woodcutters at Bushy Park took over the Dandenong Creek Run which included Bayswater, parts of The Basin, Studfield and Wantirna. They built their home on Mountain Highway near the intersection with Malvern Road, Bayswater. Cattle on these runs roamed the bush. The properties were not fenced.
