Music from the Heart| 11.7.03 Wow where to begin. It seems that so many artists, "divas", musicions today are playing the same thing, sinign the same thing, and not quite going anywhere. Have you ever wondered why? It's cause they aren't really feeling the music. All they feel is "Is this how i become the next best thing? How much money did i just make" No longer are they truely feeling strong and powerful emotions that they can convey to the people. They create a society of people jumping on the bandwagon to become the next greatest thing. That's why we have eras in music, the classical age, the romantic. They jump about and try to seduce you to buying they're songs through publicity and things. No longer can i hear flowing lines and see beautiful images through music, i just hear notes and rythems. None of the feelign that was in For Elise or the beauty of Nature in Swan Lake. Everything has just become bland and nothing. Music should be felt should make the crowd hushed, the air sparkle, and the stars shine brighter. It might sound liek i'm just making a hollywoodized version of music, making it romantic and unreal. But that's how music was. It was the expression of the soul. It showed you images and took you places with out limits. But now everything is fake, it's a bunch of repeats copying each other in the same bland music. None of it is the real emotions and feeling that was put into at the other stuff. All they can do is sell sex because that's what they can respond to and they can make the public respond to because it's built into their bodies. Such ways are low and not considered anything by anyones standereds. All they can do is close their eyes and pretend to feel the music or imitate what's already been imitated. There are some good artists out there. When rapping the song the Real Slim Shady comes to mind: "You make talk like me, walk like me, and just might be the next best thing but not quite me!" And some other songs by singers mainly about heartbreak (because that's the strongest emotion they can feel apparently and nothing else) so you don't really get much. The ones that really flow, the ones that really do have somethign to say are the ones that can make you flow with them. Can make you see images of things. Can make you feel emotions of things. Can make you hear the dance of their beat, and not the beat of their dance. The true artists out there, are ones that enjoy their own music, and not worried about how much money they make. They who are truly great, become truly great, by loving what they do, and now how great they become. ~ Wei Authors note: Goodness i wrote this article 3 times, and this is the 3rd time from memory cause everytime i'm almost finished i hit the esc key and had to start all over.
