White Springs: Gar Pond and Bridge to Bridge Terrain: Well marked trails are easy for all skill levels. Gar Pond is about 5 miles and Bridge to Bridge is about 10 miles roundtrip. The White Springs area also offers fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking and other outdoor activities. To Get There: From I-75 exit at White Springs (CR136) and head east. Cross the Suwannee River and the road will curve sharply left just before a traffic light. Turn right (heading east again) and you will start leaving town. Just before crossing the Suwannee River, there is a park and a boat ramp on the south side of the road. This is also the entrance to the Bridge to Bridge trail. Continue across the Suwannee River and within a quarter mile you'll see a bar on the south and an agricultural station on the north side of the road. Turn into the dirt parking area just beyond the bar where there is a kiosk at the entrance of Gar Pond. The trails are very easy, with a few logs thrown in for fun. Most trails are singletrack with the trees offering some shade. The trails are maintained by the Suwannee Bicycle Association, and offer ride-guides and social activities. More information is available at their website. Use bug repellant with Deet (March - October) or you will be eaten alive by mosquitoes in this swampy, fertile breeding ground.
