This Indenture made the Eleventh day of February One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy four between Samuel Bratcher of the County of Bedford of the one part and James Buford of the County Aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Samuel Bradcher for and in consideration of the Just and full sum of two Hundred pound currant money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said James Buford the receipt whereof he the said Bratcher doth hearby acknoledge hath given Granted Bargained and sold and by these presents doth Grant Bargain sell and Confirm to the said James Buford his Heirs and Assigns forever One Certain Track or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Bedford on the Branches of Little Otter River and Bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at pointers on Matthias Mountes line thence South Sixty five Degrees East Eighty Chain to pointers & thence south thirty Degrees West Seventy Chains to a Red Oak thence south Eighty Degrees West thirty Chain to pointers thence North Sixty Degrees West Thirty three Chain to a hickory thence North Seventy two Degrees West fifty three Chain to pointers thence North forty Degrees East Ninety Seven Chin to the first Station together with all and singular the Priveleges and Appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to Hold the above Sold Land and premises with all the appurtainances unto said James Buford his Heirs and Assigns forever To have hold use occupy Possess and enjoy the same with every part and parcel thereof to him the said James Buford his Heirs and Assigns forever against him the said Samuel Bratcher his heirs and Assigns and against the Claim and Demand of all other Persons whatsoever shall and will by these presents Warrant and will forever Defend In Witness whereof he the said Samuel Bratcher hath hearunto with his hand and Seal the Day and Year first above Written.
Memorandum, That in the Day and Year first within mentioned Quiet and Peaseable Possession and Seizen of the within mention Land and Premises with all appertainances was given and made by Samuel Bratcher to James Buford agreeable to the within Indenture
At a Court held for Bedford County March 28th 1774 This Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seisen thereon Indorsed were Acknowledged by Samuel Bratcher and Ann his Wife. The said Ann having been first privily Examined According to Law, who Relinquished her right of Dower in and to the Land and premises conveyed by this Indenture, which is Ordered to be Recorded Teste Ja Steptoe CC |
