A golden fish worked hard every day. He spent every moment for thinking and practicing how to jump over the water gate. Time passed quickly. He practices tens of thousands of times for each day.
One day he just easily jumped over the water gate. He went into the “Wonderful land.” His dream became true. He transformed into a dragon. So you can imagine how excided he was!
The next day the dragon stood on the “wonderful land.” He turned his head and looked at the other side. He saw many fish toiling to practice jumping. He said to himself “I am a dragon now. I am a successful.” So he thought he didn’t need to work hard again, and he decided to stop learning. He said, “ I need to relax.” He just ate, drank and played every day. He felt so happy every day!
That summer there was a drought. So the dragon king commanded the thunder and the dragon to create rain to water plants and flowers. At once, the thunder and the dragon went over to the earth. The thunder held his hammer in the air. Suddenly, the sky became dark and overcast. After that the sky displayed lightening and thunder. However, when the thunder halted for a little while, he saw the dragon moved his hands and legs to scratched the sky, but he couldn’t drive the rains to fall down. The thunder was disappointed. He asked the dragon, “What’s matter with you?” The dragon was very ashamed.
The dragon king sighed and said, ‘Thunder, don’t give him a hard time. He is a dragon in name only, not in ability. He needs to become a fish again.”
I think that this story reminds us that we should not let the temporary accomplishments blind us. We should not be so proud of our success that we are satisfied with ourselves forever. We need to keep away the two words “proud” and “satisfied.” Otherwise, people will stop learning, and that will make people fall behind.
