Woke up early that day to have breakfast at the lobby and no one got up till 8:00AM. We took Manots, Susan, Mildred and Carme to the Metro (train) station because they wanted to go downtown DC to see some sights. Then Elvie and I did some last minute odds and ends shopping like batteries etc. We had lunch with Nina at KFC near the mall. Then we drove back at the hotel and found Lahla still packing and unpacking her things. Sabi ni Elvie para siyang DAGA ..kutkot ng kutkot sa mga gamit niya.. ha ha ha ha .. We practiced our number - DIANA ROSS AND THE SUPREMES� "STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE". They all enjoyed our number, I tell you. It was hilarious! Towards the end Lahla and I did some dirty dancing to make fun.. and they were all shouting!!! Palakpakan eka nga eh!!! We all stayed at the hotel hoping we can catch a nap.. but the clock seemed to be too fast and soon it was time to dress up. As soon as we arrived and entered the function room we met several classmates we have not seen from Thursday dinner at Nina Galang's place nor at the Worldbank Auditorium that Friday night. SIGAWAN, AKAPAN, HALIKAN ng marami.. we were so happy to see them all including Mary Ann Cooper who came all the way from Ohio and was flying back that early morning. She was with her sister Jane who resides in Maryland. The program started with the opening speech of Nina Galang and she did a great job. Maybe we can post it at our website. The first number was our act STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE and as I mentioned earlier it was a hit! Everybody loved it! Nina was sensational as Diana Ross and so with her backup singers, Lahla and myself (will post photos of this number.) Then we had a number PANDANGO SA ILAW performed by Flord Orquiola and her husband who both danced so gracefully. Everyone enjoyed their number. I took a lot of photos of this dance. There was the beautiful FASHION SHOW from the collections of Lena Bernabe, modeled by Mildred Dominguez, Charito Kabigting, and Carme Merete. Narrated by Elvie Reyes and Yvonne Rivilla.. wow na wow talaga and all eyes sa mga gowns. How Lena kept all these clothes was phenomenal. They were all ORIGINALS! Then the most hilarious number was the singing and dancing performed by the former MELOMINTS who called themselves now the grooving LOLAMINTS. The dance was choreograph by none other than Mary Ann Channey who used to be a professional modern dancer. They all wore an AFRO WIG together with James (Maryann's BF) who performed with the Lolamints. There was this part where Elvie Reyes would hug him but James lost his balance and fell on the floor with Elvie. There were games hosted by Sylvia Mesina and Cocoi Andal and they gave away lots of prices. Raffle tickets were given to almost everyone because we had tons of give-aways including those they brought from the Philippines. Line Dancing was led by Irene Dumual who happens to be a Dance Instructor in California. Then there was a professional DI who led the ballroom dancing with a cha-cha. There was NON STOP dancing and we all danced with each other even without partners. Leilani Besa, Emer Castor, Ivy Zialcita, Linda Arambulo.. all our demure classmates during high school were all dancing the twist, boogie, jerk, mashed potato and MASKI POPS.. ha ha ha ha ha... I hope somebody took their photos or you might see them on the video. Certificates of appreciation and recognition were presented to several individuals. Details will be provided later. The party had to end at 12:30AM and time to say good-bye which was very hard after a non stop excitement for the past 3 days. I drove back to Boston with Nieves Zialcita and Maryann with James rode with us and brought them to Baltimore airport. Meanwhile Ivy's husband took a different route to make sure we will not hit traffic. It was a very pleasant 8 hours drive although we made 2 stops. Ivy and husband Bong were still talking about the reunion. It was obvious that they enjoyed the party as well. Beth
