Today is our 1st open house, the
house officially went on the market on the 28th of September, but the
ads didn’t start until Friday The house is
immaculate and our realtor Barry arrives at
So we have a few errands and the family
heads out, while out and about Barry calls (around 1:30) and says NO ONE has
shown up, but it was the same for others holding open houses today, the weather
is gorgeous and the Red Sox AND the Patriots are playing this afternoon , so maybe that is some of the lack of business,
he says not to worry.
Ok we
won’t. we are looking at moving the week between
Christmas and New Years while the kids are off from school.
Things are looking good for the VA Tampa
job and Mom is most likely going to get a job only 2.4 miles from the new
house. Sweet!
Any place would be better than here lately,
we have had soooooo much rain, but we have a great
yard. Not a drop of water inside the house

We get the results – Dr Laura called
as soon as she got them, when I asked for the lab slip I had told her that we
could get rid of the Cyclosporine if they were all normal.
They
are, they are, they are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dad picks up the boys from school and
brings them to Mom at work, off to the Dr’s for an eye check. Since the
steroids could have an effect on his sight.
Well no worries there, he has 20/15 which
is BETTER than normal. And the worries about his sight are only when he is
actually ON the meds, since the dose is now so low, it
is no longer a factor. YEAH!!!
Visit to Rheumatology 0900
We
are up and out of the house by 0700 the traffic is awful today, we barely make
the appointment on time.
Ian
is seen right away and we see Dr Susan. She is the dr
who initially saw Ian back in October of 2003. it is
great to have her back in Rheumatology. She thinks Ian has grown a ton. And he
has, he has grown an inch in 2 months and put on 1.5 lbs.
She
starts the usual tests and then we get to the neck one. Well Ian and I talked
about this one. I asked if he was only holding his head up until it hurt a
little bit and then gave up. The answer was yes. Well bud this is the last
thing you have to pass – so we have practiced everyday since the last
visit. I have coached him to not put it
down until it’s gonna pop off. And this time he holds it the FULL 2
minutes. She VERY impressed. To bad Dr S
isn’t here – today is the final day of Sukkoth (a Jewish holiday)
he would have been thrilled to see that.
I
did learn a nice little tid-bit today… it seems
in Dr Susan’s research it is about an average
of 3 years from initial diagnosis to full remission and off the
medication completely, and she feels that Ian will be beating this in record
time. It has only been 2 years and 4 days from his admittance into the hospital
for it. And all we have left is 2 mg Prednisone, 1 mg Folic Acid, M-F and the inject able Methotrexate once a week on Saturday. That
is WAY down from where we started. And if this set of labs comes back all green
(all normal) we can ditch the Prednisone too. So he would have JUST the Folic
Acid M-F and the shot on Saturday. Sweeeeeet !!!!!!
FAMILY DAY
0700 – 1900 pooped
Ian has
been a little overwhelmed lately, with the impending move, the radical drop in
the amount of meds he has to take, and the fact that it may also be over soon.
So dad plans a family day. After the visit to Children’s Hospital we head
to the Children’s Museum. We walk to the T station and then walk to the
Museum. The kids have a great time. Mom didn’t think to bring a camera,
but Dad took a few with his new phone.
We leave
the museum around 430 and get back to the car around 500 – the traffic
home isn’t bad, we even have dinner out at the 99.
Mom’s
shift boss stops by to reinforce the fact that I am all set concerning the JCP non placarded pallet.
Small problem with Dylan- Dad asks for his homework
book and he doesn’t have it. He gives me a plausible story so I believe
him…. And cut him a break – bad idea.
Dad’s
Birthday
After
school the boys are busy with homework, Dylan working on the “Big6”
project that Dad had asked him about yesterday. So I asked for the “BEST”
book. Uh oh, he doesn’t have it again. Now he’s in trouble. He
tells me he had no homework. Mom lays down the law. I want that book home EVERY NIGHT homework or not.
This is
what he pulled last year, when there was something in it that he didn’t
want seen. I ask if that is the case. He denies it, for a while and then he
cracks. Seems the Big6 was due 10/19 during the week off for the dam crisis, so
I guess he figured he didn’t have to do it.
Now he is
big time busted, I call Dad and fill him in, and we both lay down the law. He
had now lost TV, PC, Video games for 1 month and to boot he is grounded for the
same amount of time because he lied to me yesterday. I told him I wasn’t
happy that he is getting better at it, and I did believe him yesterday, but
I’ll always catch you eventually, I tell him and then the punishment will
be worse than if you had fessed up in the 1st
place.
Mom gets
a tire fixed; we pick up a cake for Dad and run a few errands.
Yet
another open house and yet another bust – no one even shows up to see the
house, this is really getting depressing.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
It is a
strange day for mom. I head out to work at 0515 and the car won’t start.
It turns over but won’t catch. It has a full tank of gas, the lights,
radio etc, work so it’s not the battery.
I go back in the house to call Good Sam –
great it will be 2 HOURS for them to show up.
Guess no work for me today.
I do a
few things, we get the boys off to school and I try the car again. OK this time
it starts, no clue as to why it wouldn’t start before, but it works now.
When the boys arrive home – it is homework
and then out for Trick or Treating. I received a 2nd email from
Out we
go, and no sooner do we finish our little street and Ian is ready to call it a
night. Dylan is ready to do the whole town. I push him for a few more houses
and then we head for home. I find this strange but don’t push. I accept
the explanation that the costume is too tough to walk in.
Our
realtor has stopped by with another realtor friend to get his take on what we
need to do in order to sell the house. The market sucks and things just
aren’t moving. Anyway it is another quiet Halloween, only 7 – 10
kids showed up the whole night.
Ah well,
it is time to head for bed and this is where the night gets ugly. It seems that
during one of his classes a teacher showed a movie about the Headless Horseman.
Ian does not like scary movies etc. and this thing really bothered him. He was
in full blown tears, thinking about the horseman riding down the street, add to
that the fact that he wants to go to
