It's hard to believe it was only twelve months
ago that Honeyz first sashayed slinkily into the pop consciousness.
Their debut single Finally Found, introduced the angel-voiced trio
to the British public and promptly went on to sell more than half a million
copies. The follow-up, End Of The Line, notched up similarly impressive
figures. And with their album Wonder No. 8 going gold in the UK with
sales of over 200,000 copies, Honeyz are now firmly established as
one of the brightest stars in the R&B/Pop firmament. "We're still only
on the first step of the ladder," says Celena, "but we're determined to keep
on climbing."
1999 has been a busy year for Honeyz..
In May, they launched in the United States with Love of a Lifetime,
complimented by a sexy new promo directed by Billy Woodruff (Toni Braxton,
Usher). Recently, they consolidated the huge success they'd had in other
territories, notably Australia, where Finally Found and End Of
The Line have both gone double platinum.
So now it's all eyes to the future for
Honeyz. They can't wait to take their finely-crafted soulful harmonies
over the Atlantic. So, it's been a hectic year for the group with harmonies
as sweet as their name, but with all they've already achieved, what now for
Honeyz? Naima smiles cheekily: "To conquer the world, of
course."
