Hull Friends of the Earth Annual General Meeting and subsequent Ordinary Meeting Tuesday 6 April 2004, 20.00 at Recycling Unlimited, 151 Newland Avenue Hull
16 Members present, one apology
1) Membership was up from last year. When we are asked how many members in the group, the answer has to be the number of people paying subs. So would people please remember to pay. There is a standing order mandate with each issue of Hull Eco. This is convenient if the people at your bank can be bothered to read.
2) The Treasurer reported a successful year. Membership subscriptions covered newsletter costs, even though we had to reimburse some members for their banks' stupidity. Not much new stock bought, but some old stock cleared, and good sales of donated plants and books at various stalls. proposed to buy small quantities of most popular items from FoE catalogue. We also have a stock of low energy light bulbs to sell. The Lord Mayor's Parade cost more than it brought in, but some of the costs were for permanent benefits (like repainting the milk float). Proposed to do it again this year. Recommended and agreed to keep membership at £5 waged, £2 unwaged.
3) The Shredder scheme brought in enough to cover insurance with a bit over, but the funds were slowly going down. Expansion of the collection should bring in more income.
4) Co-ordinators' report: a satisfactory year.
5) Election of officers
  • Alan and Sue to continue as co-co-ordinators
  • Debbie to be Treasurer, proposed by Hilary, seconded by Pam
6) Activities

  • Chrys reported on garden waste shredder project. Alan raised the question of finance for a new shredder for WOW.

8) Sierra Leone. Our donation had been received and we would be hearing about what goes on in SL.
9) Hilary and Alan T agreed to take part in Lord Mayor's Parade.
10) Bike Week Ride: agreed for Sunday 20 June.
