1 Money matters, signing of cheques, and so on.
2 Discussion of vandalism on Newland allotments.
3 Chrys showed T-shirts with her designs.
4 Newsletter items.
5 Celebration Trees: there was going to be a tree preservation order for them.
6 Criminal Records Checks. CVS advise that anyone working with children, adolescents,
vulnerable adults needs to be cleared (yearly). Checks are free for volunteers,
but CVS charges local admin fee. Stephen to check with national FoE if they offer facilities (sent an e-mail, awaiting reply).
7 Community Pioneer Awards. Chrys to nominate our heroes.
8 CARGO. Report by Chrys. Going well, 1631 bags collected so far this year. Problems of vandalism
on the site, and the stock of pallets had been purloined. Discussion of composting, mulching,
and other related matters.
9 Informal contacts indicated that a HFoE project could lay claim to area committee money again.
Discussion: the allotment site needs fencing, young vandals need to be engaged.
What about a little centre for alternative technology? Recycling, green activities,
education: could push a lot of buttons. Think about it.
10 Picnic or Barbecue. 19 September, a t Hull FoE Wildlife Garden, Newland Avenue allotments,
from 16.00 (4pm) till 18.00, bring food to share. We are to invite Wyke Area Councillors
and Committee staff, as well as Press and musicians
(please, Ian: we won't charge them admission).
11 Carole to buy a cheap gazebo for use at stalls and so on.
12 Alan W's checklist for evaluating projects. This was welcomed, and it will be presented in
the coming issue of Hull Eco; comments are invited.
13 Waste Consultation. There should be a public meeting with an independent expert.
