GUN CONTROL:
The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

FIREARMS QUICK FACTS
By Garry Breitkreuz, MP – Updated June 11th, 2003

Background; A message was posted on the firearms digest, asking for input from firearms owners of exactly what their personal 'bottom line' would be as acceptable law regarding firearms. The Original email is posted at the link above.  A question was also raised on the digest: Who are you? and who is this mysterious friend you are compiling information for? Firearms owners, having been deceived and lied to by various officials within our government are rightfully a little 'gun shy' of requests such as this. The answer to this concern is also posted on the above link.  I will be sending 'my' answers to 'the 5 questions'  I hope 'you' will too.. If there is a backdoor, and someone who has the ability to open it, I for one would like to see it used. The 'front' door obviously does NOT work!

ORAL QUESTIONS

Unedited copy - not official until printed in Hansard

Mr. Garry Breitkreuz (Yorkton-Melville, Canadian Alliance): Mr. Speaker, it
has been nine months since the Auditor General blew the whistle on the
billion dollar gun registry. The minister promised that he would be more
open and transparent and that he would provide a full accounting of the
costs, but he has not done either. I ask the minister who is in charge of
this mess for the umpteenth time: How much will it cost to fully implement
the gun registry and how much will it cost to maintain it?

Mrs. Marlene Jennings (Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General of
Canada, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, on this side of the House we are very pleased to
say that the gun registry has been working really well. The Canadian Centre
for Firearms has met the standards that it set for processing licence
applications in 45 days and registration applications in 30 days. The
Internet registration, which is free of charge, has had a major uptake by
Canadians. I think that we can safely say that it is working and Canadians
support it.(Well, How's 'that' for the usual clear, concise answer to a
pointed question? Did she even 'hear' the question? After the latest poll
that shows only 39% of Canadians support the Registry, what IS clear is
the Liberals seem to be living in their own little world, and don't give
a rat's ass whether the taxpayer is getting any value for their money. Value
for money spent (wasted) has little to do with the Liberal Social
engineering agenda. They will, as this federal automaton has, prattle
off any string of words that could form a sentence, and blithely
call it a answer to the question.. Why? because they just don't
give a damn if it's working or not. After all, It's ultimately all about
what 'they' want isn't it?)

And the "Culture of Safety" Continues
Just two days before a Red Deer woman and her son were shot and killed by her estranged husband, she had asked police to escort to her apartment, fearful of a confrontation with him.
On Friday, police helped Blagica Fekete, also known as Betty, get some clothes and allowed her to take her child to a babysitter, Red Deer RCMP Insp. Peter Calvert said. On Monday, a red teddy bear sat among bouquets of flowers laid behind Betty's apartment building where Josif Fekete ended a year-long custody battle by shooting his family and then himself with an unregistered shotgun. The handwritten note on the teddy bear's chest summed up the disbelief and revulsion felt by many in this city. "I only hope this means they'll do something about domestic violence," said the woman, adding police didn't do enough to protect Betty. But the executive director of the Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter said she believes police did all they could. "Rather than try to find somebody who's at fault for what happened, there's going to be more Bettys and there's going to be more Alexes down the road -- we need to ensure that's not going to happen," Moriah Boyd told reporters. "RCMP are short-staffed, we're short-staffed -- there are no resources. We have the answers, we need the resources to be able to put them in place," she said. Police confirmed Josif, who was described by acquaintances as an avid hunter, had other unregistered firearms. (There it is! The whole answer right in front of us.. Those "Unregistered Firearms"! For the want of a single piece of paper to lay beside that shotgun, this tragedy could have been avoided. That's what the 'Liberals' would like you to believe. When in fact, for the want of a concealed carry permit, and an appropriate handgun, this woman and her child might still be alive today. The only thing this government guaranteed this woman and her child was that they would be legally unarmed, and assured of committing 'only' passive resistance. Passive resistance gets you dead just about every time. Had this man thought that she could be armed when confronted, he may not have attempted to kill them. But, if he had, at least she would have had a better chance to defend not only herself, but the life of her child as well. It's about time women started standing up for their right of "Security of the person" and get over this "I cant use a gun, the government says I would only hurt myself" crap!  I personally believe that 'rare' is the woman,  who when confronted with the possible death of her child, would NOT fight with any means available to defend that life!!! It's time cut the bullshit and make defensive firearms available to those that need them! Dialling 911, Ninety percent of the time, only provides someone that can chalk a body outline!)
Police can't get key data from gun registry says report
An internal Justice Department report on the firearms program cites major weaknesses in the ability of the registry to provide crucial information to firearms officers and police. The report says one of the chief goals of the program -- continual screening to make sure gun owners remain eligible for licences -- is threatened by unreliable information contained in a massive database that is supposed to tip police and the Canada Firearms Centre to individuals who should not own firearms. The report said key personnel interviewed for the evaluation, including Canada Firearms Centre officials, were "nearly unanimous" that the centre's structure was poorly designed at the outset, with separate policy and operations branches that reported to an assistant deputy minister who had duties in other areas within the justice department. Firearms centre spokesman David Austin noted the report was delivered following changes to the program the government had already initiated in response to Ms. Fraser's report. Mr. Breitkreuz predicted it will cost the government millions to fix the weaknesses outlined in the justice department report.(The fact the the report was release following 'changes' to the program is irrelevant! The only change of note, was the one from Justice to the Solicitor General. The simple fact that entering data on 4000+ stolen firearms generates a report of 200,000+ hits on the database, which 'then' have to be physically 'matched' to weed out the garbage,  proves that this farce is a HUGE waste of time and money. It has failed every test miserably, and the 'only' thing it does now, and ever will do effectively is waste money and employ a bunch of self serving bureaucrats!)
4 Editorials Slamming the Gun Registry
THE REGINA LEADER POST: Gun registry has run out of ammo
CALGARY HERALD: Another misfire
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Gun registry proven useless
VICTORIA TIMES COLONIST: A 95-per-cent failure rate
(The public CLEARLY does not support this registry.  Yet the Liberals are claiming the registry will go on because the public supports it??? The Liberals are
CLEARLY ignoring the public again, and wastefully continuing on their own 'social re-engineering' agenda regardless of 'what' the public wants, or how much it will cost. It's CLEARLY time to dump this wasteful government!)
Rowdy audience at Erie-Lincoln candidates meeting
The number of Liberal and PC party faithful who had come out to support their respective candidates was clearly visible throughout the meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half. Tory supporters mostly filled the half of the hall to the right of Hudak. The Liberal supporters packed into seats at Badawey’s left. Numerous times, one half of the room would clap and cheer, while the other half stayed mostly silent. And with most of the room made of partisan loyalists, it was hardly surprising that both Badawey and Hudak had to face several decidedly partisan questions and other questions meant to help the candidates get out their core messages. Hudak took advantage of a question from the audience about the Youth Criminal Justice Act – a federal issue – to portray the provincial Liberals as soft on crime by linking Liberal leader Dalton McGuinty to his counterparts in Ottawa. Hudak called the federal legislation a “joke” and the nationwide gun registry created by the federal Liberals a “billion dollar boondoggle.” When asked the same question later in the evening, Hudak gave the same answer, then added: “I’m not a Liberal. I’m not going to change my mind 10 minutes later. I’m not going to flip and flop like Dalton McGuinty.”(McGuinty is declaring that he will enforce this farce of a gun registry, and criminalize ordinary people that happen to think grandpa's old shotgun in the closet is a heirloom, and personal property not to be confiscated by a lying, deceitful government.  If he thinks this will 'help' him during this election he sadly mistaken. )
The truth at any cost

In the official Ottawa Savoie sketches with surreal clarity, policy is controlled by elites: the Prime Minister and his enormously influential officials, partisan mandarins and fluid mix of lobbyists, pollsters and consultants. More troubling still, those humble folks elected to consider and approve legislation as well as protect the public purse are almost powerless to stop Parliament's precarious tilt away from the people. That corrosion of democracy's cornerstone is on public display here. It can be seen every time fierce partisans slide effortlessly from ministers' offices into the public service executive and when government programs - the Human Resources Development Canada loans boondoggle and the $1 billion gun registry are prime examples - run wild without financial control over oversight. (What I find absolutely amazing about this article, is it was published by the Trudeau..er.. Toronto Star!!! The Toronto Star is a newspaper that that usually pushes the point that a Liberal can do no wrong! This article shows 'lots' of wrong.. Maybe even 'they' are beginning to see the light?)
Bear topic springs up during Ont. election debate
“We have to do something before somebody loses their life,” said New Democrat Ben Lefebvre. “We simply can’t have 300- to 400-pound bears threatening people in their backyards.” Liberal David Ramsay, who has represented the riding since 1985, said there still is a bear hunt. “The police are shooting them.” he said, adding the Liberals would immediately “upload the responsibility to the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) where it has always belonged.” (Well, the solution here is obvious. People in Toronto have got to start seeing bears around their school yards, digging through their garbage, and confronting them while out for a walk in the local park.. THEN and only then will they have any concept of the damage a 400 lb bear can do. Until that happens, all bears are 'Winnie the Pooh', and are documented quite thoroughly mind you, in any one of several Walt Disney films.)
Nice work if you can get it
As federal privacy commissioner, George Radwanski ran up more than $287,000 in travel expenses over two years, including trips to Madrid, Rome, Seattle, Charleston, S.C., New York City, Britain and Ireland, his aide Donna Vallieres went with him on many of the trips, spending $205,000 of taxpayers' money herself. Between trips, the two spent $18,000 of taxpayers' money on restaurant meals. Charles Boyer, a top aide to Heritage Minister Sheila Copps, worked his way through $31,486.55 in hospitality expenses in two years. He denied that the wining and dining was to further his boss's hapless leadership campaign. Boyer paid one $209 restaurant bill - government business, you understand - at 10:33 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Former Montrealer Pierre Théberge, director of the National Gallery of Canada, has averaged $100,000 a year for six years in meals and travel. Dominic Taddeo, president of the federally owned Montreal Port Authority, had taxpayers spend $17,000 to have his wife accompany him on official trips. Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson assembled a group of "the great and the good" and last week swanned off to Finland, Russia and Iceland on a $1-million, 20-day junket. Her total budget, $11 million in 1999, is now $19 million. It's nice work if you can get it.(Does 'anybody' believe that Paul Martin can clean up this cesspool of patronage, graft, and corruption? What this country needs is a Federal election ' S O O N' If this bunch of  thieves get voted back in, it will only show that we deserve this kind of wasteful, and corrupt government .)
Leftovers for health
By TOM EMPEY Saturday, September 27, 2003 - Page A28 Belleville, Ont. -- Any faith I had in the federal Liberals to address health costs has taken yet another hit. As I read $2-Billion Health-Care Boost In Doubt (Sept. 25), my cynicism grew with each of Finance Minister John Manley's utterances.  The Canadian taxpayer is not well served by this latest admission of "conditional" funding. Only after the funding of the long-gun registry, dining tabs for Sheila Copps and her aides and, of course, Technology Partnerships Canada loans to companies owned by Paul Martin, will any surplus be directed into keeping Canadians alive.(The gun registry alone, could have put a MRI in virtually every hospital in Canada, and the HRDC waste could have built a hundred 'new' hospitals. The only health the Liberals seem to find important, is a healthy bottom line to their personal finances..)
Fantino unveils Street Violence Task Force
Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino announced a Street Violence Task Force at police headquarters today, taking aim at the courts, politicians and the gun registry for hampering efforts to rid the streets of gangs and gun violence.Fantino cited statistics showing increasing gun violence and urged the courts to work with police to keep gun offenders behind bars."We keep arresting them and they keep getting out. Other people have to come to the problem-solving table. We do not want to work in isolation. ... We keep arresting the same people over and over," Fantino said, adding that the gun registry puts the onus on police to determine whether a gun is registered. Furthermore, he said, "I have yet to find a criminal who has registered his gun." Fantino also presented two new Web pages. One profiles a minimum of 10 wanted fugitives and the other shows the victims of unsolved slayings in Toronto. (I would bet just about anything that not one single gang-banger, drug dealer, or bank robber, has EVER registered a gun! Spending a Billion + dollars to track and harass target shooters and hunters, all in the name of 'crime control', while things such as policing, and cancer reseach go wanting,  is absolutely insane.)
Bury gun registry
Let’s put the Canadian gun registry to rest. Bury it so deep that no other federal program gets infected with the malaise that has cost taxpayers so much and given them so little.  Canadian Alliance MP Barry Breitkreuz has disclosed that one of the major supposed benefits of the registry, tracking stolen weapons, has been one of its worst failures. Only 4,438 firearms have been matched with more than 100,000 stolen guns the program tried to trace. So, what went wrong in Canada? How come the system is forecast to cost $1 billion — which means it will surely be more, judging by other regular government overruns — and it grotesquely fails to deliver? The whole setup is so dismally bad that it’s hard to believe this is an example of mere incompetence. It reeks of corruption, or deliberate sabotage. This is not merely a waste of money — if $1 billion can ever be described as “mere,” considering the good it could have done if applied to health care or education or effective gun control through extra policing. The failure throws discredit on the entire government and public service, standing out as an egregious example of how to do things wrong. If they can screw this up so badly, how can anyone expect them to do anything right? It also diminishes the likelihood Canada will have an effective and efficient gun registry anytime soon. Even if this one were to be thrown into the fire holus-bolus, taxpayers are unlikely to support starting a new one from scratch because the memory of this debacle will be so painful for so long. Too bad. Gun registry was a good idea. It still is. But the execution of the concept has been an unmitigated disaster in Canada, and it’s got to go.(This is where this editorial go very wrong. There is absolutely 'no need' for a firearms registry. There has never been any firearms registry in the entire world that has made a difference. It's as if some people are futilely clinging to the false hope that simply controlling 'some thing' will eliminate or control crime. Registering something will 'never' make that 'thing' safer. If it did, highway accidents, and crime using vehicles would not exist. What's the point of controlling the firearms in the hands of hunters and sports shooters that were never a problem in the first place?)
Hunters prepare for season
Duck hunting season started Sept. 8 and runs until the end of November. To date, interest in hunting licenses for duck and geese has been low, Lamont said. "Bird hunters are way down relative to what they were. The number compared to what they were 20 years ago is down 80 per cent.  "It's an ongoing downward trend." The owner of a Souris gun repair shop says he's seeing fewer hunters visit his business this year. Allan Dodd blames the federal government's much maligned gun registry and licence fee increases for discouraging many hunters from hitting the bush and marsh. "Everybody you talk to says the same thing: they are regulating the sport to death and people are getting sick of it," said Dodd, owner of D5 Gunsmith Shop. "Everything is getting so expensive because of it they might as well go out and buy a quarter of beef."(The urban 'disney powered vote', is destroying our hunting traditions.  And, in the long run will destroy a lot of the wildlife in the country. Their already shooting nuisance deer & bears, & 'hordes' of geese that foul parks,  playgrounds and endanger airports. 20 years ago 'before' over legislation there were very few of these problems. Look at what happened since the urban vote started controlling rural areas and customs.. )
VOTE TO SUSPEND GUN REGISTRY SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 1, 2003
Mr. Inky Mark (Dauphin—Swan River, PC):  Mr. Speaker, I am very pleased on behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada to take part in this debate.  Let me first congratulate the member for Saint-Bruno—Saint-Hubert for her motion. Ms. Pierrette Venne (Saint-Bruno—Saint-Hubert, Ind. BQ): For the record, I will read it into Hansard. It states:  That, in the opinion of this House, the government should immediately suspend application of the Canadian firearms program in order to hold a public inquiry into the reasons for the program's extraordinary cost overruns, and to submit a structured and detailed strategic plan that would have to be approved in advance by this House. That sounds pretty rational in light of when one looks at the mess that the whole Bill C-68 gun control legislation and program has become. Canadians out there watching know the mess that this program is in. As has been mentioned, it pitches urban Canadians against rural Canadians. Unfortunately we know that back in 1993 the Liberals thought this was a good program because they thought they could sell the idea of registry and safety together, but unfortunately that is not the real truth. The truth is firearm use and crime are unrelated. (This may, or may not amount to anything. reading through the hansard, Ms Venne agreed to allow the word "suspend" to be change to the word  "study". If this is the case, it only means MORE money will be wasted while they 'study' the blatant obvious. We'll just have to wait until October 1st to see where this farce goes next.)
Registry tracks mere fraction of stolen guns(.PDF File)
RCMP: 250,305 FIREARMS IN THE GUN REGISTRY HAVE THE SAME SERIAL NUMBERS AS GUNS LISTED AS STOLEN IN CPIC. THE RCMP HAVE PROVEN CONCLUSIVELY THAT THEY HAVE REGISTERED 4,438 STOLEN FIREARMS (SO FAR)!(Another of Rock's dubious reason for a firearms registry shows up as another dismal failure of this farce. )
Vandals trash shooting club
Vandals who trashed a Barrie-area clubhouse had best be looking over the shoulders - they damaged the premises of the Barrie Hunters and Anglers Club on Russell Road in Springwater Township. Huronia West OPP detachment officers said the vandals broke into the club Saturday. They smashed windows and sprayed graffiti on walls. Outside the clubhouse, on the shooting range, they damaged target stands and a clay pigeon launcher, and stole clay pigeons. Damage is estimated at $15,000.  Anyone with information is asked to call Huronia West OPP at 429-3575, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
(Obviously young punks pissed off  that they didn't find any guns. Guns are no longer stored at clubs. There are far too many idiot kids running around whose only punishment when caught will be a 'liberal slap on the wrist'. Hell, you can't even kick their collective asses when you catch them in the act or 'you' will be charged.. )
Tories get cop endorsement
Police union boss fears Liberals
The Toronto Police Association is throwing its support behind the "law-and-order" Tory party, fearing a Liberal majority will lead to labour unrest. "If the Liberal government gets power, you'll see thousands of police officers marching on Queen's Park in the next two years," said police union boss Craig Bromell.  He said sources have told him the Liberals will revise the Police Services Act to suspend officers without pay and fire those who don't give statements to the Special Investigations Unit.  The Liberals introduced the SIU in 1990 to investigate death and injuries involving police officers.  Bromell said cops will begin a newspaper and radio campaign in support of the Tories next week. (The Toronto Police don't support the Federal Liberals useless gun registry, why should they or anyone else support the Provicial Liberals and their support for it?)
$10 million more? Hands out again for gun registry
Canoe link. May vanish within 24 hours
Canadian Firearms Centre spokesman David Austin said the money wasn't new cash, but was leftover money from the previous fiscal year that's being added to the current budget - prompting howls of criticism from opposition MPs. The money is listed as a "new appropriation" in the documents, rather than a transfer of funds. "There's smoke and mirrors here. This $10 million is just pouring money down a big black hole," said Alliance MP Garry Breitkreuz. "The supplementary estimates are asking for new money and asking Parliament to approve $10 million." The documents also show that it cost more than $100 million to transfer responsibility for the controversial gun registry program from the Justice Department to the Solicitor General in April. "This registry is a farce and a waste of taxpayers' money ... and to have them try and slide more money into the particular project ... is totally breaking faith with what the government's responsibility is in managing taxpayers' money," added Tory Leader Peter MacKay.  Walter Robinson of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation said the feds are wasting money to prop up its gun control program.  "It's like shuffling chairs on the deck of the Titanic," Robinson said. "It just adds to the litany of waste that is the gun registry ... whether it's new money or old money, it's wasted money. Period. Full stop." (It's always reassuring to know, that the Liberals believe this is only tax dollars, and not 'real' dollars, so after wasting a billion instead of the promised 2 million, David Austin has said, they have "Leftover money from previous years"(??)  And, also remember when you vote in Ontario, Dalton (yuppy) McGuinty said "I'm a big huge fan of gun registration" and will enforce this travesty. Like most Liberals, he has no qualms about wasting your money. Well Mr Martin! Are YOU going to continue this incredible waste? Or do the right thing, pull the plug, and end it now!)
UNBELIEVABLE! THE GOV’T ITSELF IDENTIFIES 90 PROBLEMS IN THE GUN REGISTRY
“The additional cost to fix these problems – plus all the ones they missed – should end the gun registry.”
Ottawa – The government’s most recent evaluation of the gun registry identified ninety problems with the gun registry.  “But that’s only half the story,” says Garry Breitkreuz, Official Opposition Critic for Firearms and Property Rights.  They missed documenting some of the most important problems.  For instance, police will never know where the registered guns are stored – let alone the whereabouts of the millions of unregistered ones,” reported Breitkreuz.  “The Minister didn’t have this report when he issued his so-called ‘Action Plan’ in February or tabled his departmental ‘Estimates’ in March.  Fixing these problems – and the many his bureaucrats missed – will drive the gun registry costs much, much higher than the billion they already wasted,” predicted Breitkreuz. (It's all going to be in Mr. Martin lap.. What are you going to do Mr Martin? Keep right on wasting?)
Senate committee considers arming Coast Guard
OTTAWA - To boost coastal security and protect Canada from possible terrorists, it may be time Canadian Coast Guard crews carry guns, some members of a Senate defence committee say. Proposals include crews carrying sidearms and ships with weapons mounted on their decks. Colin Kenney "What we see right now is the Coast Guard watching all sorts of violations take place. And for them to deal with it, they have to go back to get an RCMP officer, or a fisheries officer or an environment officer," said Senator Colin Kenny.  (Only in 'gun-o-phobic' Liberal controlled Canada, could a "Coast Guard" be unarmed. How do you 'guard' something with out having the power to defend it? Rather than make them dangerous, the Liberals will no doubt change their name to 'Coast Watchers' much like our 'Boarder Watchers', and 'Park Watchers'.. A better question is How many people were mistakenly under the impression that the Canadian Coast Guard was 'Armed'? Any reasonable thinking person would say 'sure their armed', but nope, not in hoplophobic Canada! Better to be victims, than gasp... armed! Liberals are quick to promote 'passive resistance' and so are cemetery monument engravers!)

St. Albert MP brings Scottish money-sense to Parliament Hill
'Money disappears out through every crack imaginable'
OTTAWA - John Williams is a Scottish-born banker who spent his life keeping an eye on people's money.
No wonder, then, he is the man behind the recent headlines of profligate government spending. An accountant turned Alliance MP, Williams dug into government records to reveal nearly $600,000 worth of travel and dining expenses by National Gallery Director Pierre Theberge.  He unmasked the spending of Heritage Minister Sheila Copp's aide, Charles Boyer, who put $30,000 on the public tab in two years, dining in some of the national capital's finest restaurants.  His initiative created the Commons operations committee, which hauled privacy commissioner George Radwanski on to the carpet over his $10,000 in hospitality expenditures. "It's part of the accountability process. I take no personal pleasure in pointing these people out," he said. (Maybe 'he' takes no personal pleasure from it, but a lot of 'us' sure do!)
Ottawa $1-billion over budget, estimates show
OTTAWA -- New government documents detailing $5.5-billion in costs put Ottawa $1-billion over the budget it set out in February. The spending details include $10-million on the controversial gun registry and hundreds of millions of dollars for defence. Much of the $5.5-billion, detailed in the government's supplementary estimates tabled yesterday, was announced in the last federal budget or made public in subsequent announcements. The estimates give details that weren't available when the budget was published.(What? A billion over budget? I wonder which Billion Dollar useless bureaucracy they could cut and not affect anyone or result in hardship for anyone (other than bureaucrats of course) Hmmm its a hard decision. Boy I hope the door doesn't hit David Austin in the ass on his way out!)
MP slams Tory 'politicking'
A Tory promise to snub Ottawa's much-debated gun registry has drawn fire from Parliament Hill, with MP Paul DeVillers recommending the Progressive Conservatives holster the pre-election rhetoric.  "It is just a lot of politicking again," DeVillers said on Monday. "They are trying to endear themselves to gun owners who think this promise might mean something. (The province) should accept (its) responsibilities." Listed among several key party platforms outlined in PC candidate Garfield Dunlop's campaign literature is a vow to combat gun-related crime, "instead of harassing law-abiding hunters, farmers and sport shooters. "Paperwork and registration rules under the federal Liberals' over-priced, ineffective gun registry will NOT be a priority for provincial prosecutors." DeVillers, however, said gun owners shouldn't be under the misapprehension that laws governing the national registry won't be enforced. (Yup, The Liberals are right, and the MAJORITY of Canadian Provinces, and 61.2% of the population are wrong.. Hey Paul! Go give your head a shake! The liberals are running scared, they have literally wasted more than a Billion Dollars, and have absolutely NOTHING to show for it but cancelled cheques, and lots of rich friends)
And NOW it Starts In Switzerland
The Swiss justice minister, Ruth Metzler, has called for stricter gun controls in order to boost public security.
There are between one and three million guns in Switzerland, according to the justice minister, who described the situation as “worrying”. A "Small Arms Survey" by the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva found that there are 1.2 million guns in private hands in Switzerland.  Metzler said a central register would be a step towards increasing public security. She said it would better distinguish people who own guns for hunting or special collections from those who misuse them.(Switzerland is a country that never had a firearms problem, because just about every family has one.. Now, the Swiss antis want to 'register' those guns for: are you ready for this? "Public Safety" Has it ever entered their feeble little minds, the reason the Swiss are generally safe from criminals, is most of them are armed. Out side of the act of one crazy person, Switzerland has not had a problem with firearms. Britain had Dunblane, Canada had Montreal, Australia had Port Arthur. Thats four now, It's as if someone plants a crazy person in each country to get the gun control ball rolling!)
Oz Guns amnesty won't affect criminals
The NSW government will press ahead with its illegal handguns amnesty despite admitting it is unlikely to take firearms from the hands of criminals. Police Minister John Watkins officially launched the "no questions asked" campaign that will allow people with illegal firearms to hand them to police with impunity from October to March next year. It coincides with the six month national gun buyback scheme for recently outlawed types of handguns.
Police have backed the amnesty but Police Association president Ian Ball said it was obvious criminals were not going to be handing their weapons over. "Let's be honest here," he said. "Honest people who have had guns in their possession when they probably shouldn't have are going to be the ones handing them back. "Criminals are not going to hand them back." Nonetheless, he said, the association was very supportive of the move. "Anything that gets guns off the street is a good thing," Mr Ball said.(The guns their getting 'off the street' where probably never 'on the street' to begin with! The guns on the 'street' are in the possession of criminals. The guns handed in would be those that 'might' be used by honest people in self defence against those criminals. So what their doing in Australia, is raising the 'victim rate' just as they did in the U.K. )
Big change coming, Martin vows
"This was a vote for renewal. This was a vote for different ways of doing things. It's very, very important to understand just what a fundamental shift in the way (which) the government is going to operate is really going to occur over the course of the months," Martin told reporters after his de facto win of the Liberal leadership race on the weekend.  While Martin was long on over all themes of pending government change yesterday, he was short on policy details. He said he plans to travel the country over the next two months when he will talk about the "democratic deficit" and the importance of "giving Parliament back to the people." He intends to make his first stop in British Columbia, signalling the days of western alienation are over. (Uh huh! I'll believe it when I see the incredible bureaucratic waste of the Gun Registry Gone.. Until then, he's just another tax and spend liberal, and future dictator in waiting! I doubt if 'one' person could ever ferret the rot out of 'this' government!)
Subject: Stand - Up
(Relayed from the Firearms Digest
Volume 06 : Number 504)
The following is a poem penned by Elaine F. Yanoshewski of Watson, Sk., on 2003/01/03. Mrs. Yanowshewski had been diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and at this date (2003/09/20) lies on her death bed at RUH in Saskatoon. As you read this poem I would ask that you give reflective thought to the plight of Cancer patients/victims and the Billion Dollars squandered on the Firearms Registry. We all in our lives know of a loved one, family member, friend, colleague or associate that has been touched or afflicted with this devastating disease which will claim the lives of an estimated 65,000 Canadians this year. As we give reflection and thought to what could have been, had the scarce financial resources not been squandered, might not we all offer up a silent prayer for those afflicted with what can not only be referred to as the medical curse of not only the Twentieth Century but also the Twenty First Century. STAND - UP
When Rock was in the picture, he tried to run the show
Failure was so evident; Chrétien said he must go !

Oh ! Not out of government, just to another slot
I wish they could accept it; for him there is no spot !

No guns in this country ? no powder or shells
This is so ridiculous; to anyone who dwells
In a land always known, for a rifle by ones side
Again, the losers in this mess; are those who law abide.

I've never known a criminal, to register his gun
Before he shoots a victim; and then decides to run.

Knives are now so popular, bats are used a lot
Crimes will never disappear; less painful to be shot !

Cruelty is so rampant, but the Libs must think it's cool
Why else would this have happened ? more control in their rule ?

Cutbacks in the budget, health care down the drain
But money flows like water; for gun control, that's insane !

But we're a placid people, trusting the leaders {?} in command
Too late before we realize; we've also lost our land !

The sweat and toil of yesteryear, pioneers so proud and strong
If we don't stand together; our heritage will be gone ....

Millions spent thus far ......
Another extension to register ...

Xmas Eve... two shootings and four stabbings, in Calgary.
...... A total mess,,,

Gordon Jump of WKRP and Maytag ad fame dies at 71 in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Gordon Jump, who played a befuddled radio station manager on the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati and made his mark in commercials as the lonely Maytag repairman, died Monday. He was 71.(A little off topic, but this man was a marvellous actor, and responsible for one of the best comedy lines at the end of one of the best skits in the history of television: One episode of WKRP involved a Christmas celebration, and to promote the radio station, Mr Carlson (Jump) had hired a helicopter to drop live 'domestic' turkeys into the parking lot of a mall. Les Nesman the stations 'on the scene' reporter was giving a drop by drop description voiced like the Hindenburg disaster: "People are running in all directions, turkeys are falling everywhere, smashing through windshields, and striking the ground like bags of wet cement". As Mr. Carlson was listening to this, his line was: "As god is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly".. Just something that always pops into my mind at daybreak during  turkey hunting season, because 'wild' turkeys 'do' fly and very well at that!.. )
Shopkeeper fought back
A Calgary pharmacy owner, who 17 years ago shot and killed a robber on a busy southwest street, has sold his business.  Steven Kesler, who gained national fame from the dramatic incident in November 1986, sold his South Calgary IDA pharmacy at 2039 33rd Ave. S.W., in the Marda Loop neighbourhood, last April. Kesler was a legend in the area for nearly 20 years. On Nov. 8, 1986, two masked men entered the drugstore just before 3 p.m. One of them, carrying a loaded gun, went to the back of the pharmacy where Kesler's wife Mary was dispensing drugs in her job as a pharmacist. Kesler was confronted by another robber at the counter in the front of the store.  Kesler chased the bandit out of the pharmacy and down the street where he fired a single shotgun blast into the man. Timothy David Smith, 27, fell to the street unconscious still clutching $115 from the robbery. He later died in hospital. Kesler then returned to the store, where the second bandit remained. There was an exchange of gunfire inside the store, the culprit fled to his car nearby, where Kesler began clubbing him with a shotgun as police arrived. Kesler was charged by city police with second-degree murder. But a jury acquitted the Calgary man. Four hours after the verdict, Kesler was back working in his pharmacy. ( I would bet that the 'old owner' was never robbed again! If the new owner is smart, he will take a lesson from the old owner, and take his  shot gun out of storage during business hours.)
'Another' Unarmed Couple terrorized in home invasion
"There was a knock at their front door and a female voice called out that she had a pizza delivery. One of the homeowners answered the door and a male and female suspect rushed inside the residence," Valles told reporters at a news conference Friday. "The male, who was armed with a silver handgun, ordered the couple to an upstairs bedroom. The home was ransacked." Valles said a victim was ordered to open a safe that contained a large amount of cash. "It might be that they came across the safe in their search of the home or they might have had prior knowledge." The gunman is white, 20 to 27 years old, five-feet nine-inches tall with a slender build, a slim face and a goatee. He was wearing dark clothing and a black baseball cap. His accomplice is white, in her early 20s, five-feet five-inches tall, 120 pounds with straight brown hair with light streaks. She was wearing an orange hat. (At least 'this' time they knocked!  The Liberals have their fondest wish.. Passive, unarmed, people, make the very best  victims.)
U.S.: System Blocked Some Gun Purchases
WASHINGTON - About 1.7 percent of potential gun purchases were blocked last year by the nation's background check system, slightly below the 2001 level, according to new Justice Department figures. About half of the 2002 rejections by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System were for people who were convicted felons or who had been indicted for a felony. Another 14 percent were blocked because of a domestic violence conviction or restraining order. All told, about 136,000 of the 7.8 million background checks were rejected in 2001, the Bureau of Justice Statistics said in a report released Wednesday. That compares with 151,000 rejections out of 7.9 million checks in 2001, a rate of 1.9 percent. Since the system began in 1994, about 976,000 of the 45.7 million background checks have resulted in rejections, for a total rate of 2.1 percent.(And I'll bet it doesn't cost anywhere close to the Billion and a Half wasted 'so far' by our bureaucrats, and their federal 'We'll believe what ever you tells us" elected minister chumps. The F.A.C had a much better record than the liberal farce were dealing with now! at least the Americans are following up on restraining orders. In Canada, the restraining order is just a piece of paper a potential victim can swat his or her attacker with!)
Oz Amnesty targets illegal hand guns
It's being billed as the "no questions asked" amnesty to encourage people to hand in illegally held guns. "It's a final warning to those with illegal weapons - hand them to police now," Police Minister John Watkins said. "Because if officers come breaking down your door, there'll be no amnesty left." Mr Watkins today will announce a state-wide firearms amnesty beginning on October 1 and running until March 31. At present, people caught with illegal guns face jail terms of up to 14 years, but Mr Watkins warned that the Government was developing new measures to crackdown even harder on hand-gun crime. "Time is running out for criminals carrying firearms," he said. The six-month NSW amnesty, which coincides with the Federal Government's national hand-gun buyback scheme, will urge people to hand in guns to any police station throughout the state. Since 1995 a total of 207,215 firearms have been surrendered by the NSW public in two gun amnesties and one buyback scheme. In the most recent state-wide firearms amnesty - from June 29, 2001, to November 2, 2001 - 5772 guns were handed in, Mr Watkins said. "It's time again to help our police achieve a safer community by reducing the number of illegal hand guns within it," he said. "If a hand gun owner is unlicensed or the weapon is not registered, that's an illegal gun. "A confidential, no questions asked, call to a police station will sort out any questions. "While we are particularly concerned about illegal hand guns - all rifles, shotguns or other weapons can be handed in at this time." The Federal Government's National Handgun Buyback Scheme kicked off on July 1. Since then 2702 firearms have been bought in Queensland, 2094 in Victoria, 569 in Western Australia, 441 in Tasmania, 356 in the Northern Territory and 354 in the ACT. The scheme will be launched in NSW and South Australia on October(Well!! This oughta work! I can just imagine all those dutiful criminals lined up around the block and handing in their weapons. Why it's the great liberal dream! If fact, what will actually happen is exactly what happened in the U.K. All those (armed) criminals will now find pickings much easier than ever before. No longer will they have to fear being shot while breaking into your home, or raping your wife and daughter. Those criminals, they must have the best government lobby group every conceived? What's the next step on criminal lobbyist agenda? Same as the U.K., Make self defence illegal!)

Whose platform will fight crime?
Canoe link. May vanish within 24 hours
Crime rates notwithstanding, all three parties are promising to hire more cops. The differences are just a matter of degree. Both the Tories and Liberals, for instance, promise 1,000 more officers over several years. The NDP,
characteristically, says "more police officers need to be hired to stop ... (wait for it) ... the spread of private policing." Silly me, I thought we needed more cops to stop crime. But that's the New Democrats for you. They'd reduce crime by building housing, raising welfare rates and establishing $10-a-day daycare (?!?). They'll
"increase security" in our jails and young offender facilities by, you guessed it, "scrapping privatization." (Like no one ever escaped from a publicly run jail?) The Tories, of course, have long recognized the biggest problems with our justice system lie in Ottawa. But they've pledged to do what they can. They won't enforce the feds' silly gun registry, for instance, but will insist instead that Ontario prosecutors seek the toughest sentences possible for gun crimes, and will set up special courts to prosecute them. They also demand Ottawa establish a mandatory 10-year prison term consecutive to any other sentence for the use of a firearm in a crime. Will the feds listen? I doubt it. And for what it's worth, I could find no mention of guns at all in the Ontario Grit platform.(If Ontario votes in the Liberal party, which is already conferring with the federal liberals, five years from now this provence will again be deep in debt and crime will be soaring. The P.C.'s ran Ontario for a straight 43 years before the liberals were elected last time. The provincial debt never exceeded 43 billion dollars. After only ten years of Liberal/NDP rule, the debt had soared to 100 Billion. The P.C.'s have gone a long, long way to getting that inherited debt under control again. Will Ontario throw all that hard work away because 'teachers unions' are pissed off at the P.C's ? I certainly hope not!)

Gun records unreliable at Australian crisis-hit registry
The NSW Government is facing a staff revolt at its police firearms registry amid fears the database containing records of the state's 200,000 gun owners and their 1 million-plus firearms has been corrupted.
There are also growing concerns about the collection of data, and evidence that as much as 60 per cent of the database is inaccurate, according to Shooters Party MP John Tingle. The 50 staff employed at the Murwillumbah headquarters on the North Coast are in the middle of the first mass relicensing of every gun owner and firearm since the Port Arthur-inspired national firearms buyback. They are attempting to process 18,000 registrations a month but in some months they get through barely 5000, says Mr Tingle, adding that the delays are causing confusion and anger, particularly in regional areas where there is deep cynicism about the politics behind the exercise."We have produced documentation from dealers' records showing that the registry database was about 60 per cent inaccurate," he said.  "I have also had a great many anecdotes of individual shooters either being credited with firearms they never possessed and others whose own firearms that don't show up on records. It is only going to get worse because the registry is so overloaded that it can't keep up with inflow of data."
(Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't all this seem vaguely familiar? I wonder if they've designed  their registry with the "Highly Successful Canadian Model" in mind? Or, more likely, the  possibility that paranoid gun control freaks are for the most part highly incompetent. In which case, it WAS designed very much, like the Canadian model..)
Jeweller could lose eye after robbery
Livelihood at risk after horrific beating in home invasion Trio of attackers
A North York jeweller may lose an eye and his business after a terrifying ordeal in which he was tied up, pepper sprayed, viciously beaten, threatened at gunpoint during a robbery in his home office.Roger McBean, 50, was working in the basement of his home just after 10 a.m. yesterday when he heard quick footsteps in the kitchen above him. Knowing his doors were locked and no one else home, McBean rushed up the stairs where he was confronted by three attackers, one wielding a gun. What happened next were some of the worst moments of his life. In an interview last night from his home, McBean said his face looked like "Frankenstein's" as he iced both eyes while he lay on his couch. He said he initially refused to give his attackers the combination to the 1,588 kilogram safe, home to an assortment of rubies, sapphires and opals, as well as earrings and pendants that were ready for sale. But when the men, who McBean said were around 25 years old, began cutting him with an X-acto knife, he complied. They held it to my face and said, `You're either going to open the safe or we're going to sit here and start cutting your face up,'" said McBean. "Plus they had the gun at my knee and the guys said, `I'm going to shoot you through the knee cap."(If there was any excuse for the keeping of a firearm nearby, this is it. You can take a gun out of storage for any reason whatsoever, and use it for self defence in your own home if necessary.  Personally! I prefer a short, tactical, 12 ga Pump. The most recognizable defensive sound in the entire world is the racking of a pump action shotgun.  The chances are almost 100% if he had one, and racked it while going up the stairs, all he would have heard is feet running out the door. Because criminals are largely cowards, this would have just been another, among the thousands of defensive uses of a firearm every year, where no shots are fired, and no one is injured. A lot of grief could have been saved that day, but the government insists defensive firearm use is virtually non existent, and could be punished. So, the victim list keeps climbing. Just make sure your not going to be on it!)
GUN REGISTRY SURVIVING ON DECEIT, COVER-UP AND TAXPAYERS’ MILLIONS
Ottawa – Justice Department documents obtained by Garry Breitkreuz, Official Opposition Critic for Firearms and Property Rights, reveal that the Justice Minister has repeatedly broken his promise to be “open and transparent” with Parliament about the cost and administration of the billion-dollar gun registry.  “The Minister promised Parliament seven times that he would be more open and transparent, but Parliamentarians are just as much in the dark now as they were last December,” declared Breitkreuz.  “For example, the government still refuses to answer our key questions: How much will it cost to fully implement the gun registry, and how much will it cost to maintain?” “Breitkreuz’s office has filed 376 Access to Information Act requests since 1999 and claims it has been more difficult to get information in the last nine months.  “Nothing has actually changed since the Auditor General blew the whistle on this billion-dollar boondoggle last December.  Sure, the Solicitor General is now in charge of the mess, but the Justice Department is still answering the Solicitor General’s Access to Information Act requests about the gun registry,” stated Breitkreuz.  “The gun registry program was built on deceit and cover-up and only survives because of them.  Canadians will only learn the truth when the Liberals are no longer in charge.  Voters can only make a proper decision at election time if they have the information they need.  By hiding information from a parliamentarian, they are undermining democracy because Canadians can’t find out what’s happening in Ottawa,” concluded Breitkreuz.(Will Martin do the 'right' thing and end this boondoggle? I doubt it.. The only thing left to do is keep pounding away until 'someone' gets charged under the firearms act, and the 'right' to have this tested by the court is allowed. Currently, all charges have been made under the 'criminal code' because they know that the firearms act is a pile of rubbish and to be used for harassment purposes only )
CAUCHON IN CONTEMPT OF PARLIAMENT (AGAIN)=20
Mr. Garry Breitkreuz (Yorkton—Melville, Canadian Alliance): Mr.Speaker, I wrote to you on July 17, 2003 to give you notice of my intention to raise a question of privilege with respect to: first, misleading statements made by the justice minister in the House on February 3, 2003; second, similar misleading statements made in a new release issued by the justice minister's department that same day; and third, the failure of the justice minister to provide all the documents requested by the Auditor General in her office's letter to his department dated February 14, 2003.  We were not made aware of these misleading statements or the Auditor General's letter until Tim Naumetz reported it in several CanWest newspapers on July 16, 2003. This is the first opportunity I have had to raise this matter as Parliament has been in summer recess until today.(snip) The Speaker: I want to thank the hon. member for Yorkton—Melville for his usual zeal in pursuing this matter and certainly for the assistance that he and the government House leader provided to the Chair in dealing with this matter. I understand he is going to deliver a volume of material to the Speaker's office later this day for me to read. I will plow through it at some point and then return to the House in due course with a decision in respect of the issues raised by the hon. member and responded to by the government House leader.(I believe the tactic might now,  be for the speaker to get a broom and sweep all this under the table as usual..If Cauchon were to resign over this, Chrétien would only promote him anyway.. In Liberal Land, Incompetence is always encouraged and rewarded by promotion !)
Opposition critic makes appearance at firearms owners’ meeting

A firearm owners’ information session held at the Paris Fair Grounds last week attracted about 200 people to hear members of both the Canadian Alliance party and the provincial Conservatives, as well as representatives of the National Firearms Association, discuss Bill C-68, also known as the Federal Gun Registry. Saskatchewan Alliance MP Garry Breitkreuz, Official Opposition critic for Firearms and Justice, was on hand to explain his opposition to the registry. Breitkreuz, who first coined the term “billion dollar boondoggle” to describe the initiative, estimates the current cost for the registry to be fast approaching two billion dollars although the Auditor General has only been able to tabulate costs of slightly more than 1 billion.  “That’s 500 times over budget,” stated Breitkreuz. “That’s government out of control.”(It's only a matter of time before this farce is gone.. Thanks to people like Alliance MP Garry Breitkreuz, this farce is dying the death of a thousand cuts.. Paul Martin would have to be incompetent to the extreme, to defy virtually all the provinces and keep the horrendous, useless,  waste running... Call me an optimist!!)
Rotten in Denmark,
The Liberals would never take action against their own. Now the police are doing it for them. They are probing deeply into the sponsorship scandal and the Human Resources Department, and spreading fear in the party hierarchy. A most egregious example of "see no evil, hear no evil" involved the PM's close friend, Alfonso Gagliano. Mr. Gagliano was up to his eyeballs in allegations of impropriety, the sponsorship scandal being the latest one. Mr. Chrétien's response was to call him a great public servant and name him ambassador to Denmark. It sent an insulting message to the Danes -- "Here, let this fellow sample your pastries while we try and clear his name." And it sent, as one member of the Chrétien cabinet told me, a cynical message to the Liberal team: If you're loyal to the boss, you can do anything -- and you'll still get rewarded. The investigation into shady activities by Quebec Liberals could haunt Mr. Chrétien in retirement and could plague the party going into the next election. Many of the files were below and out of sight of the Prime Minister's Office. But many weren't. Viewing all the examples of abuse of power, former Reform leader Preston Manning once remarked that "a fish rots from the head down." While overly harsh, that pungent observation is not entirely without merit.(There will be 'minor' changes when Martin takes over, but the running of the government and country will 'still' be in the hands of lying, self-serving bureaucrats. The ONLY way to get rid of the rot and corruption, is to vote it out once and for all)
Area tourist operators facing one-two punch
According to the North Western Ontario Tourism Association (NWOTA), the biggest problem facing outfitters across the region always has been a combination of indifference and interference from the very people elected to help them.  NWOTA president Tom Pearson said he and his industry are being pummelled by a one-two punch from the governments—one federal and the other provincial.  Pearson, who owns and operates Camp Narrows Lodge on Rainy Lake, said the national firearms registry has proven to be such an irritant to American hunters, many no longer bother coming here.  “Our federal government must be working for North Dakota tourism,” Pearson lamented. “I used to get around 100 duck hunters every fall, but now they are going to North Dakota, where the hunting is almost as good and they aren’t being bothered.” Pearson said all American hunters not only must fill out special forms before bringing their firearms across the border, they also are required to pay a $50 fee every year for each gun they bring. “If it was a one-time deal, it probably wouldn’t be so bad, but who needs the hassle?” he reasoned.  Apparently many of his regular customers don’t need it. Since the legislation came into effect, Pearson has seen a dramatic drop in the number of waterfowl hunters he depends on to finish off the tourist season for him. “I only have four duck hunters this year and one bear hunter,” he noted. “Last year I had none.” “With Manitoba only four hours away, that’s where people are going now,” said Pearson. “Between the loss of the bear hunt and the gun registry, I’m down to a four-month season now.  “I might as well close up at the end of September.”(If  Liberal Yuppy McGuinty gets in, the hunting industry will be finished in Ontario. Remember, this tofu eating city dweller wants YOU in jail if you have a old, unregistered .22 in the closet. Apparently, his party is in favour of bringing 'everything' out of the closet! The bear hunt MUST be re-instated. There was no scientific reason to ban it in the first place. The Registry? Well, that's just a matter of time before it's gone. If the feds won't charge anyone under the firearms act, they make the act even 'more' unconstitutional by not allowing it to be tested in court, and simply using it as a method of harassment!)
Candidates discuss bear hunt
The enforcement of the federal gun registration, the reinstallation of the spring bear hunt and Ministry of Natural Resources funding cuts and hiring freezes were all topics of discussion and debate between Conservative candidate John Yakabuski, NDP candidate Felicite Stairs and Liberal candidate Derek Nighbor.  “I will actively campaign to reinstate the spring bear hunt. I was opposed to it (stopping the hunt) in 1999 and I remain so today. I will work to extend the deer hunt and, let me be clear, you have my commitment and the commitment of Ernie Eves that our government will not be doing the dirty work for the federal Liberals on their wasteful, ineffective, billion dollar persecution of law abiding gun owners,” Mr. Yakabuski said. Mr. Nighbor pointed out it was the Conservatives who cancelled the spring bear hunt in 1999.  “There were a lot of polls run in the greater Toronto area that indicated that the bear hunt wasn’t very popular and that’s why it was cancelled. People who were in those polls were from places where bears are Winnie-the-Pooh and Smoky The Bear and not a 400-pound sow running through your backyard or a large bear with two cubs running by Eganville District Public School,” Mr. Nighbor said. (Perhaps a rural poll should be held to decide on how many nuisance bears should be transported to Toronto, and released in the High Park, and Humber/Don valley areas? One or two close, personal, encounters 'should' be enough to change some minds, and perhaps permanently scare 'Pooh' out of them!)

The Hunting Channel – Category 2 specialty service
In this decision, the Commission approves the operation of a new Category 2 specialty television service.
The Commission received an application by Dieter Kohler, on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated (Dieter Kohler), for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language Category 21 specialty television service to be known as The Hunting Channel. The applicant indicated that the proposed programming service would be devoted to all aspects of hunting and fishing. It would include programming that educates the viewer on the conservation and future of wildlife, food preparation, and safety issues relating to the use of firearms and bow and arrow hunting. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application. Based on its examination of this application, the Commission is satisfied that it is in conformity with all applicable terms and conditions announced in Introductory statement – Licensing of new digital pay and specialty services – Corrected Appendix 2, Public Notice CRTC 2000-171-1, 6 March 2001 (Public Notice 2000-171-1). Accordingly, the Commission approves the application by Dieter Kohler for a licence to operate The Hunting Channel programming service. (Speciality channels are only a couple of bucks a month, but the 'big' hurtle will be getting the left wing cable and sat providers to carry it! Once this thing hits the air(?) Call your provider, and demand the "Hunting Channel". Perhaps we might even get a version of 'Canadian Shooter' based on the U.S. American Shooter series that was dumped from TNN. I for one would love to see the IPSC Nationals (To be hosted next year by the Barrie Gun Club, Barrie Ontario) Taped, and broadcast. Most people have never seen a match, and have no idea of how much fun it can be.. Certainly a lot more interesting than 'golf')
United right means better government
The federal Tories and Canadian Alliance have taken a tentative first step to uniting the right in Canada. It’s about time. They agreed Sunday to join forces against the Liberals this fall — a truce of sorts that may lead to a formal unification agreement, but that’s still a long way off.  The current system of a split right has hurt the country’s democratic system. A fractured Parliament may serve the Liberal desire to hang onto power, but it doesn’t offer Canadians a clear choice.  If the Tories and the Alliance are both political conservatives as they claim, they should unite and stop the infighting. It’s doubtful a Liberal government with a credible opposition would be as arrogant to create a $1-billion gun registry that most provinces in Canada won’t enforce anyway. Or, the insult of the federal offer of $250 million in aid to Ontario after the SARS crisis cost the province’s health-care system almost $1 billion. The Liberals recognize a strong opposition with electability keeps them more tuned to the public’s wishes and criticisms. It also scares the heck out of them. (It's about time, is 'right'.. Now, if they would only get together and form 'one' party, the vote splitting would stop, and the Liberals would be gone!)
C.F.C. WEBSITE SECURITY ADVISORY
Predictability and Vulnerability in the Canadian Firearms Centre's On-Line Services Web Site
SUMMARY: The Canadian Firearms Centre (CFC) is the Canadian Government's department responsible for implementing Gun Control regulations in Canada. On their On-Line Services site, users may register non-restricted firearms, re-register restricted and prohibited firearms, check the status of their licence application, check the status of their firearm registration application, and change their mailing and/or residential address. There are two related security issues that allow for a malicious user to not only test and extract valid/invalid Licence Numbers, but also brute-force accounts, however, it is only realistically feasible on accounts that have been secured using a Personal Identification Number (PIN). A third security issue allows a malicious user wishing to target an individual, where personal information is available, but the intended account to protected by a PIN, to force the PIN to be reset without contacting any support personnel and making such a request.  10SEP2003 - The CFC's Manager of Informatics repliedd to the advisory at the request of William Baker, Commissioner of the Canada Firearms Centre. In his reply he stated: "matters raised in your correspondence have previously been examined by the centre, as part of its ongoing security reviews. Currently, our system meets the Government of Canada standards for the data available through our Internet site", however no details as to when, or by whom, these 'security reviews' were conducted, nor any details as to which 'standards' are referred to. As of the date of his email, none of the abovevulnerabilities have been corrected. (This was originally published in the firearms digest.. The Government has been told of these flaws, and basically say their system meets government standards (what ever the hell they are) The information about you on the CFC website database is vulnerable, particularly if it's protected(?) by a PIN number and the government does not seem to care. DO NOT TRUST THE SITE, YOU COULD BECOME A TARGET FOR GUN THEFT.. Do NOT use a PIN Number)..
Authorities Suspend Search For R.I. Hunter Missing in P.Q.
One of the hunters said he heard a gunshot around 9:30 a.m., but never saw Rambone. Around 3 p.m., the other hunters found Rambone's camera and bright orange vest hanging in a tree near a caribou carcass.

Rambone and his gun were gone, and there were no footprints. "Things just don't seem to add up right," Linda Fairbanks, Rambone's older sister, told The Providence Journal. "You just don't vanish into nowhere." The hunters were on the east coast of Hudson Bay in Nunavik, a province in northeastern Quebec. Local police sent dogs and experienced searchers on foot and in helicopters and planes to scour the tundra. The hunters were camped some 100 miles from the nearest road. By Thursday night, the police discontinued the search, saying the costs had grown too high. A day's search could cost more than $10,000. Some have speculated Rambone was attacked by an animal. Musk oxen, polar bears and wolves roam the area. "Anything's possible," Kativik Police Cpl. George Okpik said. "We didn't rule out anything, but at this point we're boggled, basically." Authorities would resume the search if money were made available, Okpik said.(American news is a hoot!  This man may have been dragged off and eaten by a muskox in Nunavik
(sic), a 'province' in northeastern Quebec.. All kidding aside, I hope they find him soon!)
Hells Angel, wife suing police for $3M
In an apparent first in Ontario, a member of the Hells Angels and his wife have filed a $3-million lawsuit against London, provincial and federal police. Melbourne residents Marty and Veronica Zager are claiming police negligence, malicious prosecution and the breach of their Charter rights over drug and conspiracy charges that were eventually withdrawn. "I feel strongly the police took advantage of their authority and they misused it," Veronica Zager said yesterday. "I think they should be held accountable for it." She claim alleges London, OPP and RCMP officers broke open the door of the Zagers' home with guns drawn, scaring two of their children, 7 and 9. Their 17-year-old daughter asked to see a search warrant and was "physically dragged away" by an officer, the Zagers claim. The officers then searched an outbuilding on the property, rented to others, and found drugs. Even though police knew the outbuilding was rented and someone else admitted the drugs were his, police charged the Zagers with possession for the purpose of trafficking, the claim says. Police then alerted the media and the attention prompted their banks to freeze their accounts, the Zagers say. Several of their basic rights, including freedom from arbitrary imprisonment, were taken, the Zagers claim.(Even 'Hells Angels' have rights. And on the surface, it would seem that many of their rights were violated. As a matter of fact, They were being treated as if they were 'legal gun owners and hunters'  Every one knows EVERYBODY has more constitutional rights than gun owners! The Liberals say so!)
HOW CAN POLICE USE A GUN REGISTRY MISSING GUNS FOR A MILLION GUN OWNERS?
“Using the Liberal’s 1976 estimates of the number of guns, fewer than 40% of the guns have been registered.”
St. Catharines, Ontario – The government’s own reports reveal that hundreds of thousands of gun owners have failed to comply with the gun registry.  The documents were obtained by Garry Breitkreuz, Official Opposition Critic for Firearms and Property Rights under the authority of the Access to Information Act.  Breitkreuz was in St. Catharines attending a Canadian Alliance Caucus Meeting and a gun show.  “How can the Liberals still claim that the police are using the gun registry when it is missing information on millions of guns owned by more than a million gun owners.  Public safety would be far better served by putting thousands of police on our streets to fight real crime than by a billion-dollar bureaucracy trying to register all the duck guns in Canada,” exclaimed Breitkreuz.(And 'this' is just playing with the numbers the liberals are using 'now'.. If you take the 'real' numbers into account, there are 12-14 million firearms unaccounted for. Where are they? Well, there in attics, closets, basements, and gun racks all across this country. Owned by people that will 'never' buy a licence to continue owning their own heritage property their families have safely owned for generations, just because of stupid, paranoid,  urban liberals. )
Nfld. won't enforce gun-registry
Canoe link. May vanish within 24 hours
STEPHENVILLE, Nfld. (CP) - Newfoundland has become the latest province to refuse to prosecute gun owners who don't register their weapons. Premier Roger Grimes drew a loud round of applause Thursday night in Stephenville when he said the federal government can enforce the law itself. (It's a stupid law, enacted by a stupid government, controlled by a stupid bureaucracy, AND, you would have to be stupid to fully comply..The CLEAR majority of Canadians say: SCRAP IT NOW
. As for Ontario? vote Liberal, and your sport will be finished. Dalton McGuinty says: "I'm a huge huge fan of gun registration" and he will reverse Ontario's non compliance position. The cost to taxpayers will skyrocket)
Missouri Senate overrides concealed weapons bill vetoMissouri lawmakers this afternoon voted to override Gov. Bob Holden's veto of a bill allowing Missourians to carry concealed guns. The Senate's 23-10 vote to override the veto met the bare minimum required for a two-thirds majority. The House voted 115-43 Wednesday to override Holden's veto. The Senate's concurrence today means the measure will become law in 30 days without the need for Holden's signature. I am absolutely convinced that it is the safest bill that we are ever going to have in this state," said Senate Majority Floor Leader Michael Gibbons, a St. Louis County Republican who voted against the bill during the regular session but switched his vote to override the veto. Gibbons, whose district overwhelmingly opposed the 1999 measure, said he changed his mind after a careful review of laws in other states, concluding concealed guns helped deter crime without any increase in citizen shoot-outs. (Unfortunately, Canadian Liberals do not have the foresight necessary for legislation of this type. Any  Black Badge certified Canadian sports shooter is better trained, and safer than the vast majority of police officers that only fire their weapon once or twice a year during 'qualifications' and the cops that 'do' shoot competitively, will tell you I'm right!) Concerns expressed about Canada's 'leaky' borders
A concern that Canada's borders may not be as secure as they should be was raised in Regina Thursday by federal Auditor General Sheila Fraser.  In a speech on the second anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S., Fraser raised concerns about the number of dangerous or undesirable people who may be getting into Canada.  A report tabled by Fraser in Ottawa in April said immigration officials have lost track of about 36,000 people over the last six years who were ordered to depart but may or may not have done so.  Fraser said she would like to know how many of those 36,000 people are still in Canada but "the fact is that the Immigration Department doesn't know.''(But they HAVE put a Billion and a half dollars into controlling the guns of duck hunters, and took a LARGE portion of the money collected from the new security taxes, and built a bigger bureaucracy while cutting back on the front line! And oh ya! they also gave themselves all hefty bonuses for being so successful at pulling the wool over your eyes..)
Hordes of new Liberal Burocrates Use Security Funds for Bonuses
In Brief: At a time when there are fewer customs agents at border crossings, Canada Customs staff in Ottawa has increased by 22 per cent. So let's get this straight: The reason management bonus payments have risen sevenfold at Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) is that the agency has doubled the number of managers who are eligible to collect them.  Even the scriptwriters for the classic British sitcom Yes Minister -- where bureaucrats basically run the couuntry -- would have been hard pushed to beat that. This is no laughing matter. Since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S., Canadians have been told border security was being ramped up to protect both countries from attack. Instead, the Customs and Excise Union claims the CCRA has massively increased the number of bureaucrats in Ottawa while virtually freezing regional budgets, leading to staffing shortages and the disbanding of anti-smuggling teams.(Again this Liberal government displays it's lack of fiscal accountability.  The lions share of the money collected in tax grabs 'supposedly' to beef up the countries security, have been used to fatten the wallets of bureaucrats. When was the last time YOU got a Ten Thousand Dollar bonus for simply doing your job? Oh that's right! You don't have a tax trough do you? Your simply one of the peons that fill it aren't you)
Quebecer snatches bear cub from mother

A Quebec woodsman who wanted a black bear as a pet, set out Tuesday morning and snatched a young cub from the Gatineau River -- its mother snarling from shore as Denis Ryan sped off on a Jet Ski, holding the kidnapped cub by the scruff of the neck.  The young cub, nicknamed Buddy Bear, was swimming across the river, near Wakefield's covered bridge, and was just a few feet from shore, and its mother, when it was abducted around 9: 30 a.m.  The bear managed to break free from his captor eight times by clawing at him. He tried in vain to swim to shore, only to be dragged back out into the river.  To wear out the bear, Mr. Ryan started running him over with the Jet Ski, forcing the cub's head under water.  The 55-year-old woodsman got his best grip on the cub by holding it upside down by one of its hind legs.  He then started dunking him again and again under water in a cruel attempt to drain the cub's energy.  The cub was now moaning, desperately trying to breathe. (I'm speechless!!! What kind of a F'n idiot is this clown? And he thinks there is nothing wrong in what he did! Someone should grab 'this' mental midget by the scruff and hold him underwater for a spell. It couldn't possible cause anymore brain damage than he has already. This is a 'prime' example of someone that should be prosecuted to the FULLEST extent of the law, and then FORCED to put in a couple of hundred hours of community service on a wildlife preserve just to smarten him up. Of the two creatures on the jetski, the bear was obviously the one with the higher intelligence!)
Outfitters say hunting season not on target
YELLOWKNIFE - Some outfitters in the N.W.T. aren't expecting a good hunting season this fall.
But the problem isn't the amount of game, it's the number of hunters. Boyd Warner is part-owner of Adventure Northwest, a Yellowknife-based outfitting company. He's had a 25 to 30 per cent drop in the number of hunters he has booked this season. That translates into worse financial news. Warner expects revenues for his company to decrease 30 to 40 per cent. The reasons outfitters give for the drop in clientele are varied. They include everything from U.S. hunters snubbing Canada's stand on the war with Iraq to the value of the Canadian dollar to increased paperwork at the border because of new Canadian gun laws. According to N.W.T. Parks and Tourism, there were 1,400 visiting hunters in 2001. They pumped almost $14 million into the territorial economy.(Gee! I wonder what the bright, shiny new member of the 'advisory' committee, who is also a northern outfitter, has to say about this! Imagine, belonging to a government committee that's sole purpose for existence, is to put you and others like you, out of business)
Vet sails through gun safety course
The firearms police who serve and protect the federal government's gun registry legislation can rest easier today, knowing they no longer need to rouse A. W. (Wes) Johnston from his Scarborough bed in some dead-of-night raid in order to scoop up his tarnished old handgun.  The 89-year-old retired postie has now done all that can be asked of him in these menacing times.  He studied, and passed, the government's mandatory firearms safety course, and he is now the proud owner of a little plastic card called the Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence -- complete with his picture on the front, and all the pertinent information on the back -- which confirms to all concerned that A.. W. Johnston is an upstanding citizen and neither a criminal nor a threat to society.  But it has been a long haul. (Well, thank god!! We all can sleep much better now, knowing that this danger has passed, and a Liberal bureaucrat 'someplace' has deemed him worthy to 'continue' to own legally obtained property he has possessed 'safely' for over 50 years.  What would we do without ignorant bureaucrats and stupid Liberals protecting our every moment from obvious dangers such as this?)
North must solve own bear problem
The North is being ravaged by bears. Mike Harris won suburbia’s blessing by banning the spring bear hunt.  The results have been devastating. Dozens, perhaps hundreds of tourist outfitters suffered serious economic loss. Some small operators relied on advance payments from hunters to get through the winter. Suddenly they had no hunt, and no hope.  Banning the spring bear hunt appealed to all who get their wildlife knowledge from Walt Disney. Bears are cute and cuddly.  The truth is very different. Bears eat anything they can find, including bear cubs. The spring bear hunt poured many thousands of dollars into the North, It kept the bear population manageable. There is no shortage of bears. Since the spring bear hunt ban, they have invaded every Northern town and city. In the past few days, three bears have been shot within city limits.  Will anyone do anything? Not likely. Dalton McGuinty has to get votes in suburbia. Howard Hampton dare not offend the blue collar vote in industrialized Ontario.  The North will have to solve its own bear problems. The North might be a lot healthier if it applied the same logic to many other problems, too.(The bear problem all over the north, and 'near north' is a real problem. In some towns, getting out of your car at a Tim Hortens, and 'slinking' past the bears surrounding the dumpster can be a
cautious exercise in trying not to be noticed. If your working in the woods, and your 'not' armed, your nuts! It's not 'likely' you will be attacked, but why take the chance? Stick the the rifle or shotgun in the ATV, and keep it handy. The spring bear hunt will resume when people start getting attacked a little more frequently. Last year bears were approaching children at school bus stops. Do we really have to wait until a 'child' is killed before the Disneyites back off ? Until that happens, residents 'must' do what's necessary, and shoot nuisance bears where ever they appear. Unfortunately, it's the 'only' culling option they have allowed)
Witness tells Stonechild inquiry he feared police
A witness testifying at the public inquiry looking into Neil Stonechild's death in Saskatchewan says the investigation that followed made him fear for his life.  Jason Roy testified on Tuesday that he saw Stonechild in the back seat of a police cruiser the night the 17-year-old Cree disappeared in November 1990.  Stonechild's frozen body was found several days later in a field on the outskirts of Saskatoon.  Testifying again on Wednesday, Roy said he saw Stonechild in the police car, his face bleeding and yelling, "They're going to kill me."  Roy didn't stay quiet. He went to police twice; once right after Stonechild died, then months later, he walked into police headquarters and asked to speak to a homicide detective.  "They took a couple of notes and they said they'll get back to me." Roy testified that that's when he got scared. He felt the police were following him. "I've been scared of cops for many years. I remain skeptical."  The priest Roy confided in thinks Roy's fears were justified. The priest told CBC News earlier this year that he moved Roy's family into a safe house in 2000 because he feared for their safety.  Shortly after that the RCMP moved Roy and his family out of Saskatoon as part of the witness protection program. (Isn't it a simply wonderful situation, when you have to be placed in a witness protection program for protection from the 'police' who might try to kill you! The chances are, if this fellow owned a firearm he might already be dead (or conveniently committed suicide). Killed while  'resisting arrest' during a "gun call" Raid! Too many cops think 'they' are the law, and the badge toting morons that push this image give all the good cops that are out there a bad name. Law abiding firearms owners are fully familiar with morons that give others a bad name, They are either criminals, or members of 'Wendy's Weirdo's". Of course we should trust the police! Except when they are trying to kill,  frame, or convict you for some bogus charge. Or, simply just harassing and persecuting you because your making waves! Other than that......)
Did a Secret Military Experiment Cause the 2003 Blackout?
The blame games that have gone on since the blackout have no hard evidence to back them up. Although it may sound like an episode of the X-files, the facts are clear; HAARP is an ionospheric warfare tool, it is capable of focusing it's electromagnetic energy at long distances, it was turned on right at the time the event began, and such a scenario would serve multiple national security interests simultaneously with minimal economic impact. So we must ask ourselves, is considering HAARP as a potential source of the blackout a ridiculous conspiracy theory, or is it the most reasonable explanation given the facts?(Nahh it was those damn aliens again. Just like the last time. )
The Big, Bad Border
Iraq might be ground zero for Bush’s terror war, but at home, one front line is our 5,000-mile border with Canada. Since 9/11, the U.S. has poured resources and manpower into “Mexicanizing” one of the world’s most peaceful—and porous—borders. But critics suggest that strategy won’t work, and it could even make things worse.(A very interesting story about the Cdn/US border, where even 'Wendy' says there is a huge problem with smuggled guns.. Keeping in mind, Allan Rock said 'registration' would eliminate that problem. A Billion and a half dollars later, and the problem is worse, and only 2% of all the security money grab is going to the front line. The rest? well it's been absorbed by the Liberal Bureaucracy. Feel Safer? I didn't think so!)
Firearms registry verifies 15,068 guns over phone
Program doesn't force owners to have guns checked in person
Mr. Breitkreuz said gun registry officials have no way of knowing whether the guns registered by phone -- all of which are non-restricted rifles and shotguns -- are the ones owners and sellers claim they are. "It's absurd," said Mr. Breitkreuz, who obtained the information under the Access to Information Act. "You cannot register a firearm unless it's in your hands and you can see the information on the firearm." A spokesman for the Canada Firearms Centre pointed out only non-restricted firearms -- sport and hunting rifles and shotguns -- can be verified over the phone, and all guns must match the details contained for the models in a firearms reference table. The table is a computerized listing of matching information for all gun types sold and distributed in the country. In the case of gun transfers, both the buyer and seller contact the registrar and, obviously, their descriptions must match before the transaction is approved.(Ahhh yes! The notorious FaRT Table. Every one who has ever tried to register one of the THOUSANDS of types of firearms that the Government FaRT Table does not contain, will tell you just how effective that is.. They will tell you the gun you are holding in your hands, passed down through the generations, does not exist because it's not in the Government FaRT Table.. At 'that' point, you should just say 'thanks' I own a gun that does not exist, therefore it does 'not' have to be registered. Over the phone transfers and verifications have no doubt resulted in hundreds of 30-30's registered with the Ser. number 1894 and .22's with the unique ser.# S.L.LR or some even some with the long number#bL01T0uTyErWAz00)
Suicide - 13th leading cause of death world over
About one million people committed suicide because of several social, medical and psychiatric problems world over last year, while in India about one lakh people, most of them in the range of 20-40 years, took the extreme step. An estimated 8,15,000 people died from suicide world over last year, making it the 13th leading cause of death all over the globe, says city-based NGO Prerna, quoting statistics released by World Health Organisation. Restricting access to the means of suicide has also helped in preventing such deaths. In some countries like Australia, Canada and US, which have put restrictions on ownership of fireams, there has been a decrease in their use for suicide.(Hey! their right! Between 1991 and 1999, the number of people shooting themselves in Canada decreased by 303! However, the number of people hanging themselves increased by 721.. But I guess that's ok eh! as long as their not 'offing' themselves with guns, its all ok! By the way, the real statistics for Canada can be found here Gun control efforts 'anyplace', have never caused a decrease in suicides, only a decrease in suicides by firearm. Is a suicide that much more 'acceptable' if the person slowly strangles themselves while dangling from a rope, as opposed to shooting themselves? The Liberals of the world say 'yes')
Big Brother Takes Grip on America
The US's response to 11 September has been an unprecedented clampdown on the rights of its own citizens
Jan Adams, a journalist on the anti-war San Francisco newspaper War Times , has also been stopped at airports, as has her colleague Rebecca Gordon. New York lawyer Barbara Olshansky, who is involved in several anti-Patriot Act suits, is stopped almost every time she flies. She is frequently subjected to strip and full body searches. She now fears to leave the US, despite being an American citizen, out of concern she will not be allowed back. It has made her angry. 'It is becoming an awful witch-hunt. At first I didn't believe it, but now it is just horrifying to me,' she said. But there is a growing movement to try to roll back the act. It is gathering support from across the political spectrum, including such notable Republicans as Idaho's Senator 'Butch' Otter, who has led an effort in Congress to curtail some of the act's powers. (In both countries you can now be arrested without charges, and held for 'any' reason, and they don't even have to tell you the reason. It's a Liberal utopia.. "Come the revolution, you'll do as your told!")
Idi and me
MEMOIR: I Growing up in Uganda, Andrew Struthers experienced at close range the bizarre and often terrifying phenomenon that was Idi Amin. Idi Amin, who when he seized power in 1971 declared himself 'His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular.' He also declared himself King of Scotland, because he loved kilts.(I can remember back in the 70's when Idi Amin said he would like to visit Canada, and would make arrangements to do so.. I can also remember a particular  thought that 'fleeted' through my head for the 'first' and 'only' time in my entire life: "Where could I possibly position myself for the best shot"? )
Will the next MPP have a Conway connection?
However, with Mr. Conway's exit, here is a riding with no real heir apparent, particularly given the results of the federal election in 2000, which shook Fortress Liberal. In one fell swoop, 65 years of federal Liberal rule were swept away with a victory by Canadian Alliance candidate Cheryl Gallant.  Anger over the national gun registry was a powerful factor in that upset and, eight years after the legislation was passed, hundreds are still showing up at pro-gun rallies.  "I don't think the Liberals stand a chance, not with the Canadian Alliance vote in this riding," says Roy McGuire, 66, a retired fire department captain in Pembroke and an Alliance supporter. "After 28 years, it's time for a change."(It's time for a federal change 'everywhere')
Guns not at ready before bear attack
IQALUIT, Nunavut - A misunderstanding about firearms legislation may have contributed to the severity of a polar bear attack near Kimmirut on Tuesday. The Inuit guide who was the victim of the brutal bear attack did not have a gun to defend himself. Kootoo Shaw says as far as he knew, he wasn't allowed to have a gun while he's working as a guide. "We Inuit are not supposed to have any guns when we guide people from down south, that's why we didn't have a gun," he says. However, that's not what the law says. While Nunavut's Wildlife Act says Inuit cannot use guns to hunt while they're guiding, they can carry guns for protection against bears. Shaw says that isn't how he understood the rules. (Noooo Canada's stupid gun laws are not confusing in the slightest! Why ANY gun control law would apply in the wilderness is beyond rational thinking anyway. Only a city dwelling Liberal would think that gun control in the wilderness (i.e were not talking anything just beyond the shopping mall here) is needed and necessary.. For example, I am looking at a land purchase of around a hundred acres in the haliburton area of Ontario. Nuisance bears are a BIG problem in that area, and while inspecting these land tracts (mostly abutting crown land) I will be tote'n my shotgun loaded with slugs. Not hunting mind you, but simply for self protection.  There is NO WAY I would be wandering around in the woods unarmed. Particularly since the cancellation of the spring bear hunt has resulted in THOUSANDS of more bears every year.. But mind you, I'm very glad their 'not' Polar bears!! Remember the rules: If the Bear is brown lie down(unless of course its a brown, black bear!!).. If the Bear is Black, fight back.. If the Bear is White, bend over as far as you can, place your head firmly between your knees, kiss your ass goodbye!)
International undercutting
These foreign NGOs, unlike those in the U.S. such as the NRA, are often generously financed by anti-firearms governments like Great Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Brazil, the European Union and others. And their message mimics that of their benefactor governments - civilian ownership of firearms is bad and only governments should be able to possess them. Through their well-funded and heavily publicized efforts to demonize private gun ownership and the freedom in America to possess firearms -- which these groups and their governments resent deeply -- the anti-gun agenda on the international stage is already being hyped as "policy." But this is "policy" simply because they keep saying so; "policy" simply because these nations and organizations draft and repeatedly adopt anti-gun position papers and statements; and "policy" simply because these groups and their governments refer to their self-generated and self-serving statements as a "consensus." (It would seem the the U.N. and its world domination / world government plans, 'require' citizens to be unarmed, and compliant. When 'forcing' the will of the minority on the lives of the majority, it's essential that you face none or very little, active resistance. This has been proven over and over again by governments and 'other' organizations  seeking the same ideals. Remember: Come the revolution, you will do as your told!)
And the "Culture of Safety" Continues
Six people were arrested late Tuesday night after an outburst of gunfire in a Mississauga neighbourhood terrified its residents. Peel Regional Police say it was fortunate no one was hurt when a vehicle parked on Ceremonial Dr., in the area of Mavis and Bristol Rds., was sprayed by as many as a half-dozen bullets. The shooting spree startled sleeping residents as far as three blocks away. Responding after a concerned neighbour dialed 911, Peel police chased a mini-van for a few blocks. Three women and three men in the getaway vehicle, including a trio of family members, were arrested. Police also recovered a 9-millimetre machine gun with ammunition, inside the vehicle. Investigating officers said an argument that erupted around 11:15 p.m. in front of a home, escalated when someone fired a gun. Facing numerous weapons charges are Jaswinder Atwal, 42, Quldeep Atwal, 45, Jaspreet Atwal, 19, all of Ceremonial Dr., Satpal Hundal, 28, Harjinder Dullat, 27, both of Brampton, and Amrik Athwal, 40, of California.(My guess is that Canada's 'importing' more criminals than it used to is only a myth eh!.. The Liberal Firearms Act: Obviously Making a difference in the safety of you and yours!)
Gardner to learn his fate Monday
Toronto Police board chair wants his job back: Gift of handgun sparked probe
Norm Gardner will learn Monday if he can resume his job as chair of the Toronto Police Services Board or face a public hearing over accepting a handgun as a gift from a Scarborough firearms manufacturer. Gardner, who has chaired the police services board since 1998, was forced to temporarily step down from the $91,000-a-year job after the board asked the Ontario Civilian Commission on Policing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a handgun given to him by one of the owners of Para-Ordnance.(Had Mr. Gardner been given a $1500 suit by a tailor, then paid for it as he did with the Tac-4, there would be no problem. The fact that Mr. Gardner was given as gasp 'gun' and therefore 'must' be inherently evil, the political mental midgets that surround him, have blown this all out of proportion. Can you imagine the furore if he had been given an 'American' gun instead of a 'Canadian' gun? Canadians should be damn proud that our country manufactures one of the best competition and defence handguns in the entire world.)
No guns: Hubby will protect you
Following two years of multi-million rand lawsuits about the issue, it is now almost impossible for a person to obtain a licence for a firearm. "It is as if the police have introduced a quota system," a legal expert, Martin Hood, said. And they are taking away the legal choice to own a firearm for self-protection, gun dealers say. They have examples of the Central Firearm Registry refusing to issue gun licences because the applicants "had not yet been attacked". One woman was refused a licence because she had a husband to protect her and others because the "police will protect them".(The South African System was implemented, and based on the 'highly successful' Canadian system.. In Canada, it's not considered politically correct to shoot your assailant,  but seems just fine to be raped, murdered, beaten, and robbed. Just as long as the bad guy does not get hurt in the process. This is the Great Liberal Experiment, that pits 'your' life against 'their' theory of  non aggression and passive acceptance to crime. Simply by dialling 911 so the police can come and chalk an outline around your body, or the bodies of your children, you are a good citizen and proof that 'everyone' does not have to be injured during the commission of a crime! In Canada, if you have "not yet been attacked" it is virtually impossible to obtain one of the illusory permits called an A.T.C.  (Authorization To Carry) as a matter of fact, it's impossible to obtain a A.T.C. even if you 'have' been attacked because the permit 'is' illusory, and as such, is just waiting to be struck down by the Supreme Court. Common sense would dictate" If you are in danger, 'carry'. If you 'are' licensed, the gun is registered, and the charge is 'concealed carry without a permit', the feds will never let it come to court anyway because the permit 'is' illusory.)
How to kill a burglar
One evening in the Kenyan capital late last year, my friend Sean Culligan endured an experience that, in several instructive ways, can be compared and contrasted with that of the Norfolk farmer Tony Martin. Sean is a mild-mannered man who, after retiring from the British military, settled in East Africa. He works for a medical charity that is held in high esteem. For a pastime he likes target shooting. He has a licensed pistol. ‘My military training tells me that if you have a gun, you should carry it,’ Sean tells me. ‘If you carry it, you should be prepared to use it.’ (Of course, the great liberal experiment say you should be passive, don't resist, be fodder,be raped, be murdered.  But 'don't' be violent... "Bull Shit" Fight Back using whatever method and means you have. To do anything less would be telling your attacker that 'his' life is worth more than your own or your children's? You should NOT own a firearm, unless you are prepared to use it if necessary. If you are not prepared to use it, it will be taken from you, and used against you. )
Prichett in his own words: Can a black man own a gun in Cook County?
Our local "Black Man With a Gun," Roderick Pritchett is about stand and face felony charges in Cook County. Roderick could have copped a plea to a lesser offense, but he believes in gun rights passionately and has refused to compromise. He is risking it all...a fully felony conviction...and as people of conscience we must not let Roderick face this trial alone. Details of Roderick's arrest follow in his own words and you will NOT believe how Roderick has been treated. As you read this, remember this could be you on the way home from the gun range....(This could happen in Canada as well. The only difference will be the colour of the lights following you. Blue lights in Canada, are beers or snowplows! Both of which by the way,  cause more Accidental deaths than firearms do!)
Pro-Gun Advocates Say Gun Control Group Proves Their Point
In 2001, the top 10 states from which criminals obtained guns they then used in other states were:Virginia - 2,489; Georgia - 2,428; California - 2,2228; Florida - 2,048; Texas - 1,851; Mississippi - 1,772; Ohio - 1,697; Indiana - 1,684; North Carolina - 1,454; and Alabama - 1,301. No citizen of the State of California may sell a firearm to another citizen of the state without both the seller and the purchaser going to a federally licensed gun dealer and undergoing a Brady Instant Background Check, which creates a de facto registry of the gun purchase. "There is no gun 'loophole' of any kind in California, and yet it appears that California still is at or near the top of this gun trafficking list," Waldron noted.(It would look as if the states that regulate firearms the most, are at the top of the list as far as suppliers of firearms to crime are concerned. If it were anything else, states such as Vermont, and Alaska which have NO 'real' gun control laws on the books, are not even on this list! If the gun control groups were right, those states should be at the very top of the list instead of missing entirely!)
The 'Liberal' Toronto Star Says:
Police rely on gun registry

Police forces in Ontario, including Toronto, routinely use the federal firearms registry as a tool in their investigations, despite claims from Public Safety Minister Bob Runciman that the registry is "meaningless" in fighting crime.Documents obtained by the Star show that the Toronto Police Service used the registry to obtain sworn affidavits on whether or not guns were legally registered 423 times in the first two years the program was partially up and running.(Hey ! no question about it.. The 'first two years' it was undergoing a test of it efficiency.. The results are in, ..IT'S VIRTUALLY USELESS.. for doing anything but confirming a particular  gun, is as the majority of guns are concerned, NOT in the system. No cop in his or her right mind would depend on it for confirming that a firearm is were it's supposed to be. Chief Fantino is absolutely correct in saying it's a waste of money and of little use. Unless of course, people like Wendy Cukier think they know more about policing than Toronto's Chief?)
N.B. to ignore gun law breaches
The New Brunswick government is the eighth province to shoot down the idea of prosecuting its citizens over the controversial federal gun registration law. Attorney General Brad Green announced yesterday that provincial prosecutors will turn a blind eye to offences under the Firearms Act or Criminal Code, except in very limited circumstances. "We don’t feel it is an effective use of the time of our Crown prosecutors," Green said yesterday. "It is clear there is a majority of provinces in Canada that feel this has been a failed experiment of the federal government," Lord said. "They should abandon this failed experiment and use the resources to better uses." The decision was announced as the Conservatives wrapped up their three-day caucus retreat in St. Andrews. The beleaguered gun registry program has come under constant fire, culminating with the federal auditor general claiming it has cost taxpayers more than $1 billion. "We don’t want to participate in perpetuating this waste of taxpayer dollars and we will allocate our taxpayer dollars to protecting the law-abiding citizens in the province of New Brunswick," the premier said..(Only P.E.I. and Quebec to go... 8 Provinces, and all the Territories are telling the Liberals to scrap this farce. Are the Liberals listening? Sure they are. Do they care? No! Why should 'they' care what the people think. History has shown, when Liberals have a majority government, 'party' policies and agenda are what counts. Not what the public wants.
