Skulking Loafers vs Autolek

Today sees the visit of Autolek to New Park Road. We expect strong opposition and strong opposition was recieved. Throughout the season the Loafers have not been thrashed, whilst I was captain to be thrashed was a bitter pill to swallow, but to report on this match is a bitter pill to swallow as well, as the Loafers were thrashed. It all began quite innoculous with the genteel skills of Chas Hammerton dictating as he normally does but with little going on the Loafers were not unduly worried when he got out, but that was to unleash a torrent of runs for the Autolek and a third wicket partnership of over a hundred runs was something that had not beeen achieved all season at New Park Road, let alone it was for the third wicket it could have been for any wicket the Loafers were lost on the blistering attack of the Autolek batsmen. In reply the Loafers were not up for the task and only Alec Walsgrove stood his ground until he succumbed to the tantalising spin of Cambell and all was lost apart from the raffle in the Coach afterwards, which was not we had turned up to see on this midsummers eve. Twilight becomes so soon in this country why can we not adjust our clocks and become in line with the rest of Europe and enjoy our free time.It is the 7th of August and it is dark by nine pm ,whereas just over the water it is 10pm and we could go on playing cricket in the evening for another three or four weeks if we were to follow suit.Lobby your MP if you know his name.
